Topics I've Started

  1. Could he be talking about the seasonal problem

    05 June 2012 - 12:02 AM

    Set manager Mike Riley

Q: What’s been the most challenging location to secure for The Walking Dead thus far?
  2. Annoying TV commercial

    12 May 2012 - 01:11 AM

That damn cell phone commercial with the mother and daughter crying is driving me insane. I may break an arm grabbing the remote to mute it.

I mean it was not cute the first time I saw it.

Does it bother anyone else? Do women see it in a different way? Are any men not irritated by it?
  3. Zombie Dreams

    20 April 2012 - 11:49 PM

I am a frequent dreamer. I dream nearly every time I sleep, but usually my dreams are mundane things like work, everyday business, etc. On very rare occasions I have the ever popular flying dream and occasionally the, you know, nice dreams we all enjoy from time to time. ;)

I almost never have nightmares and when I do, I am usually taking care of myself quite well. I have had one or two dreams of zombies, where I am surrounded but successfully dodging the buggers and easily escaping their grasp. For some reason I never have a weapon of any kind and all I can do is get out of their way.

Anyway, the original point of the post. Last night my wife watched the 1979 (or was it 78) version of DOTD. She woke me up from a sound sleep to tell me she had had a dream that she was a zombie and was biting the hell out of everyone in sight, no eating just biting.

Who in the heck has a dream where they are a zombie? I sure haven't and I can't imagine I ever would. Since we have no idea what is in a zombie's head, how could you dream a Z's thoughts, assuming they have any ?

I don't think she understands the zombies limited brain function.

And, what would Freud make of her need to bite?
  4. Fresh Interview with Mazzara on VRO

    19 April 2012 - 01:29 AM

    Mash for interview

Interesting, He seems to be a genuinely nice guy and I have never known a celebrity so available.

He follows R&L on twitter and would probably be available if you guys are interested in something special.

Who knows what the T in T-Dog stands for?
  5. Interesting Tweet from Mazzara

    18 April 2012 - 06:24 AM

Glen Mazzara @glenmazzara@ChristopherTrun: Do you think people are TOO focussed/obsessed with "the virus"? I do.” Agreed. We are a horror show, not sci fi

I completely disagree, TWD is a horror show wrapped in a scifi package. IMO, all apocalypse fiction is more part of the scifi genre than the horror genre. Zombies add a definite element of horror and broaden it's apeal beyond scifi, but nonetheless, it is scifi first to me.
This issue is apparently derived from Mazzara's inability to understand fan interest in the virus and how it all started.
Personally, I don't have a problem with the reluctance to talk about the virus and the science of zombies. I have read so many zombie novels and watched so many zombie flicks, I know how it started and I know all about zombie virus.I can fill in the blanks well enough to satisfy my mind. If this were 2-3 years ago I might be as curious as many others about the origins and causes of the mess they are in, and I would be asking some of the same questions..
Oddly, Mazarra says one of his favorite horror movies is Alien. I wonder if he thinks this film, taking place over a hundred years in the future and in interstellar space is a horror movie and not a scifi movie first?
I recognize that some fans of the show are horror fans and may not even care for scifi but I would bet that the majority of this community are scifi fans as well, and are therefore interested in the scientific aspects of zombie lore, to some degree.

Using a patio umbrella to smash zombies
Remember, when you're in a shopping mall that's overrun by zombies, an outdoor patio umbrella can save your life.
