    Chapter 19

    Returning Threat

I immedietly hit the floor pressing my back against the wall peering around listening to the engine of the truck get further and further away. I let out a slight sigh of relief, when the engine roared through the streets again. Why would they be coming back? I slowly poked my head up over the window sill to see the purple truck speeding by, two men in the bed of the truck with makeshift weapons hitting Walkers as they past letting out an uproar of laughter I could hear due to the window still being cracked. I watched as the purple truck pulled over into a driveway two buildings over, and the men quickly hopped out of the truck and began to club the remaining Walkers on the street near them.

After a moment, a familiar red haired man stepped out the vehicle. I recognized him as the man who entered the Wal Mart with Terrance, Blake. He had a much more serious tone about him, taking the time to lean against the bed of the truck and watch the others brutally take out Walker after Walker.

"You wanna club a few Blake?" Asked one of the men, he was dressed in a white T-shirt with blood stains all over it, he was very overweight and made me wonder how he had the stamina to take out as many Walkers as he did with just a club.

"Did you forget why we are here Vinny? You too stupid or something?" Blake responded giving the overweight man he called Vinny a slight shove before driving a knife into one of the Walkers roaming toward them, right inbetween the eyes causing the Walker to instantly going limp and Blake retracted his blade.

"Aw come on Blake! Don't be such a hardass. They couldn't have gotten far. Don't worry about it." Replied the other man, as he clubbed one of the last remaining Walkers sending it to the ground and drove another slam ontop of its dome cracking its head open. The man had a blue baseball cap on, and was dressed in a pair of green cargo jeans and a black puffy jacket. An odd choice of clothing.

"They killed Terrance! You know... Terrance. The guy who fed your ass for the past three weeks! And you tell me not to worry about it?!" Snapped Blake as he got in Vinny's face, forcing Vinny to immedietely back down from him.

I fell back to a sitting position and shook my head slowly in disbelief, I honestly didn't think we would ever run into this group ever again. I couldn't imagine how they found us, it couldn't have been coincidence. As I thought it over in stress, I could hear Blake still talking.

"Their car was on the highway Blake. Engine was still warm, they are on foot. Probably hauled up in a building somewhere." Explained the other man, as the three men crowded around the truck looking around as they talked to make sure no Walkers got too close.

"Yeah, a building... You know how many buildings are in a city Curtis? Jesus, its just like Terrance to leave me with a bunch of fuckin numb skulls! I'll tell you what... I'm gonna watch that old fuck that killed Terrance bleed out, every drop." Replied Blake, as he opened the door the truck and pulled the black rifle he had pointed at me when they attacked the Wal Mart out of the bed.

A scream tore through the hallway, I swung around to look down the hallway not being able to see anything in sight, swinging back to look outside to spot Blake staring up at the window I was in and I froze like a deer in headlights. A loud gunshot rang out behind me, and the three men began to sprint toward the building. I damn near fell over I was running so fast to get back to Sven, Molly, and Ben. I wasn't even worried about the scream, these men were dangerous much more dangerous than a couple Walkers.

I turned the corner into the room where I left everybody else, to see Sven knelt down next to Molly with a dead Walker at her side. Molly was once again in hysterics from the attack, but I hardly noticed. I quickly entered the room and slammed the door behind me pressing my back into the door as Sven began toward me with a confused look on his face.

"It was just a Walker. I took care..."

"Adam's group! They're outside. We... We uh... we need to get out of here. Right now!" I said frantically as I quickly rushed to the window in the room, but could only see the alley below which did me no good.

"What! Are you sure?!" Sven cried, as he made his way over to the door gripping onto a nearby trunk and pulling it infront of the door and beginning to pile chairs, tables anything in the room ontop of it.

"No! We can't barricade the door. They'll know we're in here!" I quickly said, as I approached Sven and began to put the items back to the place, yelling began to echo through the hallway, too muffled to make out what they were saying.

"Well then, what the hell do you suggest?!" Sven snapped, keeping his tone low but adding enough force to let me know he was annoyed with me.

"We hide! Who knows how many of them are out there, and I don't really feel like dealing with the Walkers that are led here by a gun fight!" I snapped back at Sven, as the yelling got clearer from down the hall. Somebody was on the same floor.

"Aw no... Okay. We have to hide Ben now!" Sven said as he made his way over to Ben and leaned his limp body up attempting to pull him up, when footsteps suddenly ceased on the other side of the door.

"No time!" I whispered, grabbing onto Molly and pulling her into the closet with me and shutting the door just enough to leave a crack so I could see out into the room. I covered Molly's mouth to muffle her cries, staring intently through the crack, refusing to blink.

I watched Sven hit the floor and roll under the bed, leaving Ben laying in the bed on his stomache sprawled out. The door slowly creaked open, and I saw the man from before Blake called Curtis step into the room, a double barreled shotgun in hand. He stopped in the entrance for a moment, before approaching the bed and gripping onto Ben's sleeve to lift his arm up and then drop it to the bed limply. He didn't look as though he recognized Ben, giving me a sense of relief.

"Dead nigger." Curtis said before giving Ben a light tap on the head and turning his back to him. Suddenly he stopped, and turned his head back to Ben. I tensed as he reached over to him again and placed a hand on his cheek.

"Hah! Guy is still alive! Well then..." Curtis said, as he cocked the shotgun and pointed it down at Ben.

I didn't even have time to react, I watched Sven shoot from under the bed and drive a knife into Curtis's stomache causing him to drop his shotgun and stagger backwards screaming in pain. Sven quickly silenced him by withdrawing the knife and driving the blade into him once again, this time in the throat gurgling his screams with blood. Curtis took a few steps back, as Sven stood there staring at him leaving the knife in his neck as he fell to his knees and went limp, dead. I slowly pushed open the door to the closet, staring at Sven from the doorway in disbelief.

"You killed him..." I said, staring at Curtis's corpse with a waterfall of blood pouring down the sides of his neck to the wooden floor below him. Sven slowly sauntered over to me, and got so close to my face, staring me in the eye.

"You were just going to let Ben be killed? Ben saved your life..." Sven said, I stared back at Sven with a stern look on my face. Molly quickly scurried out of the closet and squeezed between me and Sven pushing us apart. Sven's eyes were burning in rage, and my blood was pumping.

An uproar echoed through the hallway and Sven rushed past myself and Molly and closed the door as lightly as he could keeping it cracked a bit so he could peer out. I took Sven's side and peered out the crack next to him the hostility and rage we had experienced seconds before melting away, aligning against a common enemy. A man stepped into view dressed in a black zip up sweatshirt with the sleeves ripped off, the hood was draped over his face. I reached for my 10mm hidden in my belt, and pulled it out to my side only to have Sven grab my wrist and slowly shake his head. I prepared myself to argue, but was distracted by the large man Blake called "Vinny" step into view, a pump-action shotgun over his chest equipped with an old style bayonet attached with nothing more than duct tape.

"Curtis! Hey Curtis!" Called out Vinny as he began to wander further into the hallway, dissapearing out of our line of sight. I wasn't breathing, the tension was creeping all around us. The pistol in my hand was quivering violently.

"He has to be here." Commented the man in the hooded sweatshirt as he began toward Vinny, and approached the door next to him. A loud bang echoed through the hallway, as a door next to the one across from us swung open with force. Both men dissapeared into the room, offering occasional comments to eachother.

"On the count of three... We're gonna rush the room across from us. I'll kick the door open... You grab Ben." Sven suddenly whispered, taking a few feet back to Ben to lean him up to a sitting position for me to grab him.

"Are you crazy? They're gonna hear us!" I growled at Sven, making my way over to him and grabbing onto Ben to keep him in a sitting position before tossing his arm over my shoulder to keep him upright. Ben's skin was covered in sweat and he was looking worse by the minute.

"Better than sitting here and waiting for them to find us! Its now or never!" Sven announced, before turning his back on me as if to say he wasn't going to argue anymore. I glanced to Molly, who was shaking in the corner but she slowly nodded her head to let Sven know she understood the plan.

"One... two..." As Sven counted, I could see through the crack in the door Vinny and the hooded man step into view in the hallway, my eyes widened and mouth opened to warn Sven but it was too late.

    "Three!"
  2. Marijuana

    18 June 2012 - 04:09 PM

I debated starting this thread due to thinking that it was a bit too "real" for the R&L community and thinking it would break the rules. However, with Marijuana becoming rapidly decriminalized in the U.S. and having surveys passed around in college asking me specifically "How often do you smoke Marijuana?" I figured that posting it on R&L wouldn't be all that bad. Of course, if the admins think that this topic is too much and should be closed then I won't complain. It is pushing it a bit, considering Marijuana is illegal.

Onto the topic at hand, Marijuana. Personally, I don't see why it is even illegal. Although Marijuana is a drug, and does get you high considering the facts it really does not make sense why it is still illegal. Alcohol is a much bigger problem in the U.S. for police than Marijuana. Marijuana doesn't make you angry and clouds your judgement to the extent of you don't know what your doing. I've been "too" high off of Marijuana on four different occasions and it completely zones me out and makes me feel sick if I take it in bulk. However, I have had many occasions while drinking alcohol that I have become a very cruel person to friends and strangers alike. I understand that marijuana is bad for you, but so are cigarettes. If people want to choose to smoke cigarettes, why can't they choose to smoke weed? The rules would be similar to alcohol with a "no driving under the influence" rule, although people are much safer drivers while being under the influence of marijuana than they are under the influence of alcohol in my experience.

I am what some people would consider a stoner. When I got to college, I began to smoke very often until I became very good friends with the person who distributed it around campus, and it began to become an everyday thing. Perhaps my judgement is clouded because I do it but, I do not see any reason why Marijuana is still illegal.

    Thoughts?
  3. Misfits

    16 June 2012 - 07:26 PM

Discovered this show when I got out of school out of boredum on Hulu, in case you were wondering... This UK show tells the story of five "young offenders" forced to do community service when a storm hits and they are granted unique superpowers along with a handful of other people in the city. The story consists of them finishing their community service, while trying to hide murders and are confronted by other people with powers. Sounds pretty generic, but its actually very unique. There is a lot of comedy and the powers are simplistic like "Super strength" they are more along the lines of "Lactokenisis" which is the control of all dairy products. Very funny, with a compelling story. I highly recommend it. Anybody else heard of this show?

  4. Reluctantly Saved

    15 June 2012 - 11:02 PM

I've thought about this quite a bit. When thinking of the people I would allow to join my group in the case of ZA, the most obvious would be my family and my girlfriend. But, then I began to think about the other people I wouldn't have a choice to save. For example... My girlfriend in high school, we dated for 4 and a half years before breaking up due to her cheating on me and not telling me until four months after the fact. We are on extremely bad terms.

Now, if I saw her being attacked by zombies and was about to die, I wouldn't be able to just sit back and watch her die. No matter how much resentment I have towards her, I couldn't just let her die. A couple other people fall under this category in my life as well.

So, who would you reluctantly save?
  5. Forum Description False

    15 June 2012 - 09:34 PM

So..."Only one Rule, No religion or Politics" this is a lie. I posted "Getting Laid" earlier today, thinking that it would spark and interesting conversation topic, and SUPRISE... It got deleted. I demand the description of this forum be changed if I'm not allowed to talk about sex, drugs and living free!

EDIT: For that matter... Why did THIS topic get closed? Click here. I think the Admins just like to close my controversial topics... Cause, everyone knows sex is a sin. ;)

Using a patio umbrella to smash zombies
Remember, when you're in a shopping mall that's overrun by zombies, an outdoor patio umbrella can save your life.
