Wow. I'm surprised you got down voted so much

Yeah, I'm fine with people downvoting me because it just shows they disagree with me, but I would like an explanation or an "I disagree and here's why..." post. I'm perfectly open to criticism, but it doesn't help me if people don't explain it

*Shrugs*

Oh well.

how the eff did I not connect these dots??!!

I didn't either, I thought it was a different barrel of water. Patrick was still on the floor, and he fell down right next to the barrel he coughed in. So, the water that Karen got ws from a different barrel, I think.

That bothered me too about Karen, she hears a slight noise in the bathroom but lays down and poof, she's out like a light. Since she had investigated the noise, you would think that she still had adrenaline flowing.

I really think that it was more than just letting herself feel emotions for a baby. The way she reacted when Judith first started crying was if it had triggered a bad memory for her.

If anything, I got the impression it was the feel of the soft baby skin against her face that really pushed her over the edge. And that argues for her rememebring something she had and lost, and probably in the ZA, not before. My kids are older now, but I think if I picked up someone else's baby and put it against my face, all those emotions of having a child again could come rushing back.

Really enjoyed the episode, and watching last week's episode right before really did help with the continuity. A couple of things:

1) To deal with the walkers on the fence, why could they just have spread out along the fence and made noise to attract them away from the weak spot. Surely a full-size, warm-blooded human making noise and being close would be more of a stimulus than a few dead, cold rats on the ground. I thought that was pretty silly, and something you should easily have thought of in the heat of the moment (as opposed to standing under the fence that looks like it's about to come down on you). Heck, just pick up the rats and spread them out, if that's what they're really focusing on.

2) At least they gave us some indication that there are watches and guards on duty, perimeters being checked, etc.

3) Patrick walking through the cell block at night, breathing like a walker ... noshing noisily on innards for a couple of hours ... I understand the plot necessity, but again, it wasn't too believable.

4) Will Rick put his sheriff's shirt back on now?

That's enough for now. Oh, and I did I win the over/under for zombie kills? Need to find that thread again.

I know I complain about time jumps a lot and again, I’m not going to hold it against the episode because I promised I’d only hold it against the premiere, but they just form relationships during it and expect us to accept it. I can accept it, but because of the time jump, I don’t have to care about it. Why am I supposed to care that Cutty’s girlfriend, Woodbury Extra #5, might be dying? The only reason I’m supposed to believe they care about each other is because…the writers told us they do. It was Michonne and Andrea all over again

The ending was just very “whatever” to me. I want to feel bad that Tyreese’s girlfriend died but who the hell is she? Did anybody care about her? I sure didn’t. Am I supposed to care that Tyreese feels bad? How am I even supposed to know how much he cared about her?

There was not a lot of humor this week, and that was one of the few things I complimented the Walking Dead on last week. Like the AV Club mentioned, this show almost never has humor. A joke can be dropped here and there, but it feels inappropriate when it is, like somebody whistling at a wake

-A lot of supply wasting in this episode. Maggie shoots an impaled walker that wasn’t going to hurt anybody and Rick wastes a can of gasoline for burning something that didn’t need to be burnt

I agree with the above and I appreciate your reviews.

For me, the show would get extra credit if it built upon the episodes before. I don't mean the forced mysteries (who's feeding the walkers) but rather the day to day lessons.

ep02;
walkers are going to push the fence over.
people get bitten while they sleep

ep03:
let's park some cars along the outside of the fence so the walkers can only get two or three deep, not enough mass to push it over.
24/7 security duty, they have enough people to patrol (and NOT alone either)

Do you guys think the person who fed the rats is the same person who burnt the bodies? I'm definitely thinking two different people

My guess is that one of those little girls fed the rats (naming the walkers and such) or it was Bob Stookey and the body burner is the doctor

The body burner can also be Karen who faked her death, but that would be an absolutely ridiculous plot twist

Karen doing the fake death and going back for the Gov would be pretty cool, but it wouldn't make much sense since she was obviously a target of his craziness last season. She may have faked her death for another reason, though. That bracelet is like the perfect thing to leave behind on a burnt and unidentifiable corpse.

I speculated this on another thread but it could be because she wants to kill the other sick people but also wants to remain in the shadows while doing so

I kept saying during this episode that they should use the Woodbury buses to park along the fences. One thing they have in abundance is abandoned vehicles.

Well I've been thinking that maybe Carl had been feeding the walkers rats. The last episode of season 3 really showed Carl turning to a darker side. Because of the time leap we do not know how he got to normal and if he really has gotten back to normal. He might want the action and thrill of killing walkers. I mean how can you go from murdering another boy to not even carrying a gun. And he respects Rick so much more! When did this happen?!!! Everyone keeps thinking that it's Bob, but I feel like that is definitely to obvious for walking dead.

Sort of hoping that Lizzie and her sister are going to be like the twins from the comics!

Also hoping that Rick does not go crazy again from all this killing because he got that look on his face again! He kept touching his hand to his forehead like last season when he became crazy! We have to see what happens with that.
Overall great episode!

Stress headache! Manage a small family business, love the owners to bits but the guy is a (very handsome) loveable rogue - and the cause of my stress headaches more often than not, since he has no clue about business. I feel Ricks pain, withing 3 seconds of my boss having an idea, I look like Rick did in the back of that trailer...

Late to the party but I wanted to watch the episode again before commenting.

I liked this episode a lot. The first episode, which I also liked, felt like the set up for the next one and the next one paid off IMO. Lots of character building, lots of action. I figured that this unacknowledged two-parter would end with Rick strapping on his gun and giving Carl back his weapon.

The walker attack scene was great, with nobody understanding what was going on and panic everywhere. I know that it was ridiculous that Patrick was able to march through the dead silent cell block and kill his first victim without anyone hearing him but it was still a great scene. I don’t understand why there were so many walkers. Did more than Patrick and the sleepwalker die of the virus and turn overnight, or were Patrick and his first victim able to silently kill others who also turned by morning? There was a baby killed, right? – a small covered body is carried out into the yard by a woman after the attack.

The scene in which that guy stood up and his guts fell out was a bit much for me but it was well done. I gather from TWD that it was a homage to Romero.

We saw that Carl has really come back from being a child soldier, a murderer, and has bonded again with his father and maybe even taken in some of the values that Rick was trying to impart. There was always a lot of love there under the anger, so it doesn’t surprise me any more than it did to see that Carl still loved his mother in Killer Within.

It surprised me a bit that Carl ratted on Carol but it demonstrated his good relationship with his father. It was interesting to see that Rick agreed to keep it quiet. After what happened with Patrick, maybe he has come to realize that even kids need to be able to defend themselves. There’s got to be something between helplessness and the damaged and dangerous child soldier that Carl was becoming.

I liked how we thought that Karen would be Patrick’s first victim, then it seemed that she might die of the new virus, but she ended up being a murder victim (assuming she had not yet died when whatever happened happened).

The pig scene was horrible to watch because I hate even fictional animal cruelty scenes. Maybe it was necessary but it sure took a toll on Rick himself. I think that the burning of the shirt represented Rick’s realization that his farming days are over. Presumably someone else will continue with that; it’s vital.

I didn’t really like Carol telling Lizzie she is weak, but think that maybe she is doing her best to make sure none of the kids die like Sophia did. Theoretically she’s wrong to go behind the parent’s backs but she knows some don’t get it. It looks like Carol doesn’t get how deep Lizzie’s problems run and I think it’s a bad idea for her to have a knife. She’s another very damaged child, somewhat delusional it seems. You guys have convinced me that it’s probably her feeding the rats.

The ruling council is Daryl, Carol, Glenn, Sasha and Hershel is it not? I wonder how they will feel about Rick now. Will they trust him, or at least his judgment? Will he join the council?

I loved the scenes with Michonne, first that she had to be rescued and resented it and then the scene with the baby. A beautiful scene of loss and pain, beautifully acted. The baby did a good job too.

I definitely think it's two different people and the events are unrelated. The body burning was because of the victims' illness and the feeding of the rats to the walkers was to either compromise the safety of the prison or just to feed the walkers out of compassion for them.

I agree that Karen being the body burner would be quite ridiculous. I think the bracelet on her arm was just to help us, the audience, identify her. The illness works way too quickly that she wouldn't even have enough time to come up with a plan like that. My theory is that it is Carol based on her reactions about the sickness at the council meeting and her ability to go rogue to do what she feels is right.

I think the rat feeding is an act of malicious intent to weaken the integrity of the fences, for whatever reason. I think if it was somebody feeding them rats out of compassion, I don't see why they would just feed them a head at a time and leave the bodies. Obviously, whoever is doing it does have some mental problems, so logic may not come into play here. I suspect Bob might be a plant and is the one doing it, though the big problem I have with that theory is that it's hard to think of what possible motive the Governor could have given Bob to try and kill the decent people at the prison, which includes children and people that saved his life. I don't really think it's Lizzie as I see her having problems capturing the rats and sneaking out between the fences with a flashlight, and the culprit was dangling the rat from above so they seemed to be of equal height.

How about this?

Carol hands Lizzie the knife, Mica says's she messed up etc..

Lizzie goes for a walk, see's Karen and Dave looking sick & coughing etc.. thinks they were bit, goes crazy and stabs them.

Carol stumbles upon Lizzie and the dead body's and protects her by dragging the body's outside and burning them.

I mean, it makes sense right?

I know there are a lot of flaws to what I'm going to suggest but I'm going to suggest it anyway for the sake of conversation.

There is way more man-power at the prison since the Woodbury crew showed up. I'm assuming there was some point in time when the walkers weren't herding like they are now so my thoughts are; why didn't they dig a moat around the prison? I know that probably sounds a little silly like building a castle but in all seriousness that would prevent walkers from threatening the fences in any way. With the amount of people they have there now I feel like they should have been able to have one crew who fended off walkers while the other crew dug the trench and just do little by little if need be. They're very efficient at killing walkers at this point so you'd think they could defend the diggers without much problem as long as the walkers were spread out. Even if they only did it on just the most dangerous side of the prison and not the whole way around it would be effective. Or they could dig trenches on the inside of the prison as a backup plan in case the walkers finally broke in. Anyone have any thoughts about this?

Ok for the people who want to know, why if it is the girl/s feeding the walker why not the whole rat? It is so the walkers won't leave that spot. They stand and watch them. No back half of a rat laying there, no more walkers staying there. Simple.

Except that the walkers show no interest in the other half of the rat bodies. We never see a walker trying to get at one. So, I sincerely doubt that. The feeding time moment might be bringing more to that section of fence, but I think what is keeping them there is all the readily noticeable food just walking around the inside of the fence. I mean, seriously, a few tarps would handle most of the walker pile-up problem.

We never see them interested in the other half because as you said there's always people there when we see them. Then when the people leave the walkers have completely forgotetten about them. At night however maybe they are there trying to get at the other part.
