In the deleted scene from episode 306, Rick (played by Andrew Lincoln) and his band of survivors have successfully holed up in the abandoned prison as they plot their next move. But Rick's mental state is in question (let's just keep it spoiler-free and say that he went off the deep end due to a succession of mounting traumatic events) and the gang tries to remain optimistic that he'll pull through.

Thanks for posting.

Should we put all the deleted scenes in one thread?

Imagine a group of a hundred motorcycles driving down a freeway. Eventually, they hit a junction. One road goes northwest and the other goes northeast. So one guy, we'll call him S, says, "Let's go northwest!" A mile past the intersection, a semi careens into the group and kills ninety of them. Ten are wounded, but they survive and keep going. Eventually, they hit 10,000 miles. S suddenly has his consciousness thrown into his past body right before the junction. Now, he says, "Let's go northeast!" All 100 bikers survive. Happily ever after, right? But what about the ten, no nine, who went northwest and survived? What happens to the reality they were living? Does it just disappear now that S has changed the past? It's not like only bad things happened on that 10,000 mile journey. Maybe one of them fell in love with a gas station attendant and got her pregnant or maybe one adopted a homeless kid that joined the adventure. That 10,000 mile journey would be full of stories. Romances, farewells, friendships...the loss of those ninety lives is horrible and unfortunate, but what would rewriting their history mean? The nine who survived lived full lives and did the best they could with the hand they were dealt. How could it be right to just erase all that? Isn't that worth something? Is there a point to a world where everything is happy? Are people who struggle for a better life just idiots? Being human is about fighting even when it seems hopeless and finding happiness in a world that hates it. Are you saying that's worthless?

Here is an "ET Exclusive" deleted scene:

In the deleted scene from episode 306, Rick (played by Andrew Lincoln) and his band of survivors have successfully holed up in the abandoned prison as they plot their next move. But Rick's mental state is in question (let's just keep it spoiler-free and say that he went off the deep end due to a succession of mounting traumatic events) and the gang tries to remain optimistic that he'll pull through.

It's basically a extended version of the one we got.

There were only 6 deleted scenes on the DVD totalling about 12 minutes. I was under the impression there would be a lot more.

In addition to Zombie Lori, Rick ignoring the baby, Merle and Carol, and Rick and Morgan in Clear we got a nice scene between Carl and Beth lamenting Lori and wondering if she's in heaven, and from Walk With Me we got a scene of Crowley threatening Michonne.

Overall much better than season 2, but not as much!

Only 12 minutes of cut scenes? Sheesh, that's a little disappointing, I was also under the impression they had quite a bit of cut content. I am not as in as big of a rush to pick up the DVD now. Thanks for the info.

I was a lot disappointed by what they offered as extra and/or deleted content. It was all pretty blah except for the Carol/Merle bit. Season 2 offered some unique insights, not this one at all.

I'd really like for those deleted scenes on the web AND the DVD's to be subtitled or captioned... soft spoken scenes like between Rick and Carl at the table (basically that whole scene) ... I heard NONE of it! .... volume full blast too... yeah I'm THAT hard of hearing.

Sigh.

We know there's more than those deleted scenes, it just seems the production team doesn't want us to see the others. I mean, we know the original ending with MIlton and Andrea was filmed, so why not put that on the set as an alternate ending?

We never got to see Carl's reaction after shooting his Mom, so I think this scene should have been left in.

I'm usually torn when Chandler Riggs has an emotional scene. Most of the time he is too wooden, but it worked for this scene, IMO.

Agreed. Great interaction scene for Beth, Carl and Judith. Great dialogue.

I really think this scene should have been left. It is true, we hardly heard much speak from him of Lori's death and it was nice to see Beth comforting him in this horrible situation.I like how Carl mentions he has no idea how Lori could be in peace in heaven, given the rest of her families circumstances back at the prison. Also questioning how can someone go to heaven if they are a walker.

They should have kept this scene, and the little chat between Daryl /Maggie concerning Lori/Carol missing. As opposed to the possum hunting they did at the day care center.

Quite liked it. Makes you understand Michonne's initial concerns a little more.
