Horror author and fan of The Walking Dead, Stephen King talks about favorite opening lines for his novels and how important they can be to make or break a book.
Read article here.

“There are all sorts of theories and ideas about what constitutes a good opening line,” he said. “It’s tricky thing, and tough to talk about because I don’t think conceptually while I work on a first draft—I just write. To get scientific about it is a little like trying to catch moonbeams in a jar.” ~ Stephen King

Clearly my favorite opening line is from The Gunslinger. When I started the book, I honestly had no idea what the story was even about, only a friend who shook his head and told me he couldn't explain it if he tried, but it was worth the journey to figure it out on my own. I read the first line and my curiosity was instantly peaked by such a small sentence...it really does make all the difference sometimes.

Well that is pretty much the best opening line of any book, any where. Followed by the first line of my book. :P
