I got word of this from a friend on Facebook. Starting today Sony rolled out a new update for the PS3. Don't update to version 4.45! There have been many reports of the update locking the PS3 on the "boot up" ribbon screen. This doesn't happen to everyone but it has happen to a lot of people and with The Last of Us out, I know you don't want to lock your consoles. I believe they are aware of the problem and are investigating but better to not have the problem to begin with rather than trying to fix it afterwards. Just thought I'd give you a heads up. wooooow man, almost got a heart atack, Playstation Plus updated it automaticaly for me, luckily when I turned on my console today it worked fine, now I'm scared to turn it on again, oh well, nothing I can do about it now (fingers crossed)

Sony Customer Support says it's happening to ps3's with updated hard drives, so at least I don't have to worry, thanx for the worning GDM, good luck with your system

Yea...sadly I updated before I heard about the problem, but was still able to play for about an hour after I updated.

I was lucky. I moved my modem around and I never hooked the wifi back up to my PS3, so I didn't get an automatic update message. I think I'll just leave the internet disconnected for now at least.

since the update some of my games have sound when i load them and some do no not. Thank god the Last of Us works...but all my other games don't have sound when i load them.
