Ace Attorney 5 is coming to America in the fall and I know there HAS to be a handful of fans here on these forums. If I made a top 10 list of my favorite games, the AA franchise would be number 3. I know RickRhymes has played a few but I want to know how many people here have played one of the most underrated franchises ever made

Imagine a group of a hundred motorcycles driving down a freeway. Eventually, they hit a junction. One road goes northwest and the other goes northeast. So one guy, we'll call him S, says, "Let's go northwest!" A mile past the intersection, a semi careens into the group and kills ninety of them. Ten are wounded, but they survive and keep going. Eventually, they hit 10,000 miles. S suddenly has his consciousness thrown into his past body right before the junction. Now, he says, "Let's go northeast!" All 100 bikers survive. Happily ever after, right? But what about the ten, no nine, who went northwest and survived? What happens to the reality they were living? Does it just disappear now that S has changed the past? It's not like only bad things happened on that 10,000 mile journey. Maybe one of them fell in love with a gas station attendant and got her pregnant or maybe one adopted a homeless kid that joined the adventure. That 10,000 mile journey would be full of stories. Romances, farewells, friendships...the loss of those ninety lives is horrible and unfortunate, but what would rewriting their history mean? The nine who survived lived full lives and did the best they could with the hand they were dealt. How could it be right to just erase all that? Isn't that worth something? Is there a point to a world where everything is happy? Are people who struggle for a better life just idiots? Being human is about fighting even when it seems hopeless and finding happiness in a world that hates it. Are you saying that's worthless?

Yep. I've played the first and second DS games. I don't know if I'd call it an underrated series. As far as handheld game series go, I think it's pretty popular.

Ace Attorney vs. Professor Layton looks like it's going to be pretty cool. Hope it comes over to America soon.

It's underrated in that sense that not many people have played it but the people who have played it, love it.

And I'm more waiting for Ace Attorney Investigations 2

I was under the impression that anyone with a DS has played at least one Ace Attorney game, but judging by the replies and views this thread has gotten so far, you might be right that it's underrated.

I've never played Investigations. Is it much different from regular Ace Attorney games?

The Investigations are better and less monotonous and while the killers aren't as interesting besides one, the cases are so contrived and it's amazing putting the pieces together and it leaves a more satisfying feeling than any other Ace Attorney game.
Here's a link to the best track. Don't look at the comments or other tracks in case of spoilers

The cases are also all interconnected and it leaves a more satisfying feeling than the other games. Phoenix Wright isn't in it, but it's my favorite game because it has a better overarching story and more humor. Edgeworth is a genius so he isn't an underdog, and in contrast everybody seems stupid around him. Gumshoe is also a main character and he has a partner named Kay Faraday and a rival named Shi-Long Lang. The way all the characters play off of each other makes it worth it.

And one more thing. Since it's a spinoff, you only need to have played the first game to understand what's happening, but it takes place after the third game and before Apollo Justice

The part about better investigations definitely interests me. I felt like the crime scene investigations in the Phoenix Wright games were the weakest part of the games. The court room was where all of the fun was. I cut the games some slack though, because they were originally Gameboy Advance games.

Try to get it on an emulator like desmume

That's...illegal, isn't it? I would never do such a thing.

Good to know. I thought I might have to play Ace Attorney 3 and 4 to understand the plot of Investigations. Thanks for info. Investigations is sounding like it will be my re-introduction to Ace Attorney games.

Once you play Investigations, you'll curse Capcom for not localizing Ace Attorney Investigations 2

I'll curse Capcom anyway, but it's always nice to have one more reason to hate that company.

I can only give you a plus one, but it's a plus ten in my heart.

Which one's your favorite?
