Anyone even remotely following Simcity after it's disaster of a release knows the issues involved. Simcity released after a decade of nothing. Fans were excited and most were not deterred by the "always online" requirement. Personally, I didn't even know about that until I bought the game and went to install it. So an internet connection is required to play, update, and save the game. You access your game through Origin and EA and Maxis both say this makes for exciting and dynamic gameplay. They say that real cities are not alone, they work together with other cities. Well, real cities also don't require internet to function as well as exist on servers. Needless to say, I wasn't even able to play my game until a week after I bought it. I just wanted to hear from other Mayors about your trials, tribulations, and success with the game.

I still have that game as well as Simcity 4. I still play those when I don't want my city to not sync to servers afters hours of playing.

Jeeze. Yeah that whole online only is a litle discouraging. I bought Spore when it came out and people were pissed that it was online only... but theres no interaction with other users which is weird.

I've yet to play the newest Sim City game..and in all honesty I've only played the first game haha. And going totally off-topic.. DRM should not exist whatsoever and there is no excuse for developers to include it in their games and consider it to be beneficial for the game and the users. I can see more and more developers going down this road of requiring gamers to have a working internet connection to play their games and if the rumours are true, then Microsoft just may have shot themselves in the foot if the new XBOX console turns out to be DRM based too.

I agree with you that DRM does not make much sense. If we were allowed to save our games on our own hard drives and maybe the game can ping the servers just to keep updated or release data, then find. But saving my city on your servers doesn't make the city mine. So for $60 I'm not buying, I'm renting.
