I missed this thread somehow...hmm, five things:
1) My medical pack, which is pretty damn nice if I do say so myself. Working in the trauma unit for years has definitely helped me build a fairly thorough med kit.
2) Water purification kit
3) Astronaut Food (very lightweight and compact)
4) Crowbar
5) Handgun
Man, I'm going to have to pilfer a lot of shit to survive, haha.

Does my F350 powerstroke count as one item?? Between me my wife and kids we could throw a bunch in the bed.
Assuming I drive off in it (or another vehicle)
1) My grab bad for serious social disorder (Rifle and bayo for it/shotgun/handgun/and ammo for all.
2) My medicine bag. Curse you hypertension and asthma
3) All the emergency bottled water I keep in the garage; usually 2-3 cases.
4) Our snack bag we keep for trips filled ususally with bars and trail mix
5) A coat

I was sitting there and rethinking my list a million times. It was like hmm, what would I have a hard time finding out in the "real world" and what would be fairly easy to scavenge up? My son has asthma as well, so I guess if our families stumble upon each other we'll be raiding a pharmacy together pretty quick, haha. Hope we've got some damn fine shooters in the group!Maybe I will run into Kid77 and we can pilfer together. Too much left off that list for me to fell decent.
Jon is fine, dammit.

So, limiting myself to things I actually own right now and can access:
My Jungle Master knife (9" blade with serrated back and bayonet mount - could make a decent spear out of it).
Water filter
Waterproof matches
Space blanket
Wrist Rocket and ammo (I'm gonna count that as 1 item)
Somehow, this leaves me unsatisfied.

5 things? oh I may run a bit longer here... o_o
- My fiance and my immediate family (so that's gonna have to include my mustang and my dad's van) (and my pets are included in the family part)
- Our weapons; My PK 380 + my fiance's .40 & his shotguns, with all the ammo we could store & then some... plus my katana, my sword, my dagger and our various knives
- My personalized emergency kit that I currently have assembled (you don't even know... lol) a lot of surprises in that one...
- As many filled gasoline tanks as we could manage
- Nutrition; An industrial water jug for each of us to withstand whatever conditions we come across... as many canned goods as we could take with us and and MRE's to make sure we keep our strength up while training everyone to hunt...
and I know this is "5 things"... but clothes have to be somewhere on that list because if anyone doesn't become uncomfortable when they see all the zombie blood splattered, covering someone's clothes, I dare you to speak up O__O
...What would be great is a steel covered farm/farm house, where you could raise, breed and harvest your livestock and crops without having to worry about being out in the open... and where you and your loved ones could live without having to worry about that whole being out in the open thing figure out how to create and use solar powered panels... then you would never have to worry about running out of food/water/shelter/safety.
But hey, if you watch Survivorman, then you know how to do a lot... including saving your pee and using heat to drain the water out of it *thumbs up*
