I thought it was going to end with Andrea seeing Rick, Michonne and co. at the wall. I would have loved that.

Same, I expected her to come out and decide to do a little patrolling of the wall before bedtime. I really wanted her to climb up and spot Rick and Co. Then Rick to give that intense look into camera like he always does.

Glenn is a G in my demographics vernacular, can't wait to see what this character Shuppert is all about. Dixon reunion seems inevitable, Oscar becoming a new favorite.. and I really hope Andrea and Michonne have a confrontation. I forget, can anyone please clue me in on how long the wait is after the mid season ep?

It's February IIRC; not sure of the exact date.

That scene with the hermit didn't make any sense to me. How could he possibly have no idea what was going on? Or did he? He didn't seem to. And why is he living in a cabin with his decomposing dog? Yuck. I liked this part, though:

Hermit: "I'll call the cops!"
Rick: "I AM a cop!"

Yeah I thought that was a poor choice for the writing. If you were alone for that long surviving would you turn down going with four heavily armed bad asses? I know I wouldn't.

This was honestly one of my favorite episodes of the series, I think. Some of my thoughts:

- I really liked the whole pre-intro sequence, with Maggie's reactions to what she was hearing in the next room.

- Loved the scene where everyone was reunited with Carol and also when she realized that Lori had died.

- The scene with Governor & Maggie were really intense!

- I liked Rick's talk with Carl and that the baby finally got a name.

- All of the parts with the group on their way to Woodbury were great. Felt bad for the crazy guy.

- I felt bad for Milton. Never cared about his character too much until now.

- I almost yelled out "No!" when Maggie spilled the beans about the prison.

- I really like both Axel and Oscar, hope they last for awhile though I doubt it.

- Andrea getting dressed at the beginning of the episode

-The music was perfect, Bear McCreary is still fantastic.

I can't wait for next week, but I'm gonna be mad at the same time because I know I'll have to wait until February to see the show again.

Glad the rape didn't happen but I like how they had us on the edge of our seats! I was thinking that maybe the walker Merle threw in was one of the toothless ones, just to scare Glenn but after his convo with the Governor I guess I was wrong. After being quiet so far this season, I'm glad Glenn got the chance to prove how valuable he really is!

Amazing episode; I liked it so much more than last weeks episode.

I knew Maggie would be the one to crack but it aggravated me so much that she did. I understand that she realized the Governor wasn't going to let up and after how he terrorized her, I really don't blame her. She did what most people would and blabbed to save their lives. But in the long run, it's going to have the opposite effect and many of the group will die because of it.

Love that Glenn had some time to shine. He took down that walker in a way I've never really seen a character do before. He's not just the errand boy, he's toughened up over the past few months and I like that he's such an invaluable part of the group.

Also really glad the rape didn't happen...I wasn't looking forward to that, but even without it, the Governor still managed to get the effect he wanted on them both....

The more I think on it the more it think they should have took Merle to the prison. Hell it couldn't have been any worse and at least they'd have home field advantage.

I've kind of been thinking the same thing..But there's no way they would be able to ever let him leave otherwise he would likely go back to the Governor and run his mouth. And I can't see Daryl willfully allowing anyone in the group to harm his brother even if it's to protect them all. If Daryl wasn't there, I'd think it a better idea to lead him back and lock him up and then do with Merle what they wish so long as he has no way to get back to Woodbury.

Why was it poor writing?

The guy was cut off from the world, surviving and hiding from the walkers and suddenly a group of 4 heavily armed people are in your cabin.

It was such an ambiguous, surreal scene that I found it to be a work of pure brilliance. Good writing IMHO.

Dude was just crazy. Heck, he kept his dead dog! As bad as it sounds, he served his purpose, though!

The scene with the old man and his dog was kind of weird. How was he completely unaware that the whole world was dead? Or that his dog had been dead...
My guess is he just went full-blown insane.

The heartbeat-like pulsating in the last few minutes was awesome. I noticed it started when Merle and the Governor were discussing Daryl, the brother loyalty/"blood is blood" and continued through the part where Andrea nestled her head in the Governor's bosom (presumably hearing his own heartbeat in the process). Thumbs up, Bear!

The scenes w/ the Gov and Maggie, I just kept saying please don't let him hurt her, I was so tense!! I was excited at the end b/c I thought it was gonna end w/ the Dixon brothers seeing each other. IDK, I think Merle might still have a bit of good left in him when it comes to helping out the old crew.

Yeah, it was an odd scene, but he may have gone insane, this is what I thought. Cabin fever.

Exactly, lock him up and pump him for info. If he was reunited with Daryl and still wanted to leave it would be a HUGE red flag that something is wrong.

That or they should have shot him and never told Daryl but Glen and Maggie don't have that in them...........but that what Rick would have done.

Oh, and just as we thought. Carol is surrogate baby momma to Judith (Not a fan of the name)

Judith is what the baby is called in the comics, though. I'm not a fan, either, FWIW; but it's nice they're giving a hat-tip to the source matl. (for once). :P

Was just discussing this with my 13-year-old son, who remarked he liked "Ass-Kicker" better than Judith. I pointed out that if they keep Ass-kicker as her middle name, she'd be Judith Ass-kicker Grimes. Initials?? J.A.G. ;)

Also forgot to mention that the scene between Carol and Rick is one of the most touching/heartbreaking of the series.

It was subtle but brilliant. The fact that there were no words exchanged, just emotions, shows how great of actors Melissa McBride and Andrew Lincoln are.

I loved the ambiguity of that scene, pure brilliance! Scenes like that just fire up my imagination. Hope there's a webisode with just that guy surviving on his own with just his dog.

I suppose it does keep us guessing. I'm one of those who read spoilers, though--I want to know!!! LOL

One of the best episodes this season, but it was sort of ruined by the old man in the cabin, just so random and out of place. And no one was really phased that they just killed and fed this man to a zombie except Oscar. It kind of contradicts the whole part in the episode guts when Rick tries to honor an already dead man. Even the shock value of it didn’t seem to work just seemed too wrong I thought maybe they would knock him out leave him. And my theory for his actions is hes been living in the woods alone, he could be senile or have mental problems.(he did have a dead dog in his cabin.) His cabin was boarded up so he knew about the zombies at least to an extent. It is confusing that he said he would call the cops but people living out in the middle of nowhere isolated(kind of like the prisoners) may not know the extent of things. The man definitely seemed off I wouldn’t think of his behaviors as rational or coherent.(does he even have a phone?)

I just don't see anyone acting like that crazy or not. Walkers are at your door and your just going to walk out to them? I don't buy it...........but I'm a chump so I would have been begging to come with them too.

I would also like to say this is the only time anything about the show has ever bugged me. I'm not a complainer, that one scene just rang false to me.

Not my favorite episode, especially compared to the last one but it definitely had its highlights.

Here's what I think:

-Glenn has fight and I love it! It's consistent with what we've seen so far what with Maggie constantly relying emotionally on Glenn that he would be the one to hold out the longest. They haven't even gotten to her yet and she's a wreck. Glenn's one fault is he talks too much, he let it slip that Andrea was still with them which Merle obviously knows is a lie so that discredits him a bit. But I ultimately figured it would be Maggie who would give them up.

-Michonne always has consistently flawless entrances. Even if she gives out she goes down, she's fighting til the end. I'm not even annoyed by her super hero behavior yet, shes just such an awesome character.

-Really touching moment with Carol returning and embracing Rick. I actually haven't teared up once with this show but that scene made me come close. Some great acting on Carol's part, I felt her emotions on that one.

-What I wasn't expecting is how aggressive Rick was initially to Michonne. I know its a far cry from the investigation style Merle took with Glenn but still the most aggressive we've seen Rick be so far. He grabbed at her injured thigh even. Although he did back down once he realized he couldn't intimidate Michonne and that she actually wanted to cooperate with them. But he threatened first, before backing off. I hope people will finally realize from this that this confirms although the Gov's tactics are more extreme to be sure, being super guarded about people and where they came from to the point of threats and acting on them is a norm in ZA. I will say Michonne did look extra suspicious though since she did have formula.

-Carol looks so cute holding the baby. I'm sure shes going to watch it like a hawk. I'm glad she made it and I actually hope the baby makes it too after seeing them. They look adorable together.

-Glenn fighting the walker while tied to the chair gave me a mini heart attack of feels. But I'm so glad that he is being featured and showing arguably more tenacity then we've seen from anyone all season save for Michonne.

-So creepy what Milton is doing, I didn't understand it at first at all but once I saw how he questioned Andrea about it I realized that his concern was for trying to rehabilitate Penny.

-"There people may come for them" line from the Gov confirms that he does realize the risk of bringing individuals back from Woodbury which has been contrary to what some people have mentioned.

-So, so, so glad that they decided to humiliate and scare Maggie rather than actually go through with the rape. When the Gov told her to undress I initally thought they were going to go through with it which admitidly threw me wayyy off. Until I realized he wasn't going to go through with it.

-Loved Michonne shutting shit down once again by stopping the guy in the cabin and the scene with all the red hands in the innards. Something really surreal about how that was shot.

-Andrea taking care of business, stabbing the walker with Milton was also a good scene.

-Biggest think though, I KNEW they knew about the prison! Super duper big told you so to all the naysayers. I figured they just thought the place was overrun. Even Michonne mentioned she thought the place was overrun.

-I also knew Merle's loyalities would be called into question. I'm thinking the Govs down fall might be trusting Merle. Although, as clever as he is he probably doesn't have much faith at all in him.

I rated this episode fair, because while I did like a lot of things about this episode, this is the first time I had a real issue with the transitions and the editing of the prison to Woodbury scenes. Way too choppy imho.

Amazing.
I have never spent an entire episode with my stomach churning like that. When they were reunited with Carol, it was so emotional. Her reaction to Lori's death was so sad.
Definitely sitting on the edge of my seat for all of the Glenn and Maggie scenes. I almost had to hide my eyes when that walker was unleashed on Glenn. Merle is a POS. Poor Maggie. That whole scene was degrading enough.
Why didn't Michonne tell them about Merle? She knew that there was a connection. She is definitely showing a pattern of withholding info. I do understand that there is not trust yet on both sides.
The scene with Andrea and Milton seemed like filler. I didn't understand the point when we knew where it was going.
The build up to the tension at the ending was awesome.
