Andrea...I think she is looking for a Daddy.

All the grief she gave Dale. I want her to woman up.

I'd say Michonne if I have to choose. People really overhyped her character due to the comics. So far her character is quite boring to me but I expect her to become more badass as the show continues so ill reserve my full judgment for now.

I've never read the comic, so I don't have preconceived ideas to ruin the charachters.

That being said, I really dislike Andrea. She seems really clueless about what is going on around her, and she is a horrible judge of character.

In relation to the comics, Axel, Andrea & Sophia. I loved all three of their characters in the GN and can't stand any of them on the show, save for Axel. I like him but feel he wasn't done right.

The Gov. So far just not living up to his hype. Mentioned this on another post, but I thought the walker arena was lame and threats are not the same as action. He is weird, creepy, and immoral, but psychopathic evil incarnate, haven't seen it yet.

Never read the comic, but I will comment anyway in terms of the characters television evolution. If I accept the personalities as the show portrays them, then I have to say Glenn. I know he became connected to Maggie, who is shining btw, but I still want Glenn to be the go to guy for small operations. I expect I will get that Glenn back in the next few episodes (if they let him live).

Thanks to the writers and the actor for accepting the challenge and bringing Glenn around!

*zipping flame suit*

I have to say, Michonne is falling short for me on the show. Of course, there is more to this season, but her surley stares and monosyllabic grunts really aren't living up to the hype.

Andrea would be a close second. How could they manage to screw up such a great comic character so badly?!?!

I've been hesitant to express a full-on opinion about her television version, because I wanted to give the story time to develop, but at this point, I'm not feeling the enthusiasm.

Although original Michonne had a fun, if dry, persona that I liked in that bad-ass-comic-book way, her character development left a lot to be desired. Still, that's a comic, this is television. There needs to be certain elements that give something extra to the character, aside from the sword. We need to give a damn. I had high hopes for her with the televsion series. The season opener, when they revealed her relationship with Andrea was good. I thought, okay, we have less of a machine Michonne and someone who we're going to learn a lot about and care for. I thought, now, here's a chance for them to flesh her out a bit more and (soften her) just a tad? Maybe? But it seems what I thought was impossible to do, they did. They've completed reverted the potential she had in the first episode, to a mute, emotionless and asexual machine. Her character development is worst on the show than in the comic and that's saying a lot.

I have ideas as to why this is. Television is a tighter rope to balance on when you're beholden to advertisers and the larger public. I think the writers (much like Kirkman with the comic) have no clue what to do with her, besides have her frown, give hard glares and cut off Walker heads with her katana. They may be writing scared--scared of backlash from comic fans, tv fans, groups that cry racism at the drop of a hat...the list goes on. Her faulty portrayl in the comic I believed was born of ignorance...on the show, I think it's fear, and thats got nothing to do with zombies.

So disappointed, yeah, but at least they totally bulked up Glenn's character! There's a Silver lining in every dark cloud.

It's not just that Michonne's backstory has been given no consideration yet, it's also Danai Gurira's performance. It's always on one level; same facial expressions, tone, macho behavior, etc. If she's truly a machine and all reality is lost on her then fine, it's a ZA, it's understandable that what she's dealt with and seen could have had a permanent affect on her behavior to such a degree. But it makes for boring television. I want to see that she is still a human, not just a walker who speaks, as someone here put it well. You know it's getting bad when you have to cross fingers to see a character change facial expression, or engage in normal conversation.

Michonne needs to break down. Hit an emotional wall of some kind. An act of ultimate kindness, or a truly sorrowful loss- some break point where the wall comes down and she cries and cries until she laughs or laughs until she cries.

No one can keep a wall like that up without it falling hard. Daryl had a wall that began to fall more slowly, allowing him to settle into a softer man. But Michonne is in danger of cracking at a time that kills people. She needs the wall to come down soon.

If it does, we may see whether the actress has the chops to deliver the buried Michonne we don't know yet.

That's what I want to see, anyway.

Totally agree with you. I guess only then can we tell whether both the character and the actress are up to scratch.

I somewhat agree

But then I was expecting Randall Flagg (minus the supernatural element) and he's just not cutting it for me. He has the charm, certainly, but just not enough seething malevolence and batshit to go with it.

Most disappointed in Andrea for just kind of bailing on the group.

Most impressed with Carol and way she's grown and can now stand up for herself
