Ello all!

So, I went with my boyfriend, my sister, my brother and my sister in law to Halloween Horror Nights this past Sunday in Orlando, FL.... we also met up with a few friends when we got there, and let me tell you... it was freaking fantastic! we're all wanting to go back so badly...

Let me just note real quick that I told my brother exactly how I would react... none of the scare-actors outside the houses in the scare-zones would bother me at all and i'd have fun with that, but in the houses, I knew the screams coming from my lungs would be so naturally blood curdling that I myself couldn't keep from laughing afterwards... and I was correct in all of this. lol.

We had to get the express passes due to the ridiculously long lines, but it paid off... we ended up being able to do all the houses and scare zones, and boy was it worth it!

We got there around 8 PM and went through each house by location. First up was Silent Hill. The Silent Hill house was so terrifying for me that I don't even remember hearing the siren or the music playing... that was the only house that was so legitimately terrifying for me that I don't think I made a sound the entire time. It was really well done though. I love the movie, but Pyramid Head just scares the living daylights out of me... anyone who rips your clothes off, followed by your skin... not a favorite in my book. Needless to say I looked right over at him in the house swinging his effing arms around and didn't look the rest of the house. lol. But it was a really good house, genuinely creeped out our entire group lol.

Next up we got some drinks, took a quick bathroom break and took pictures in the "electric" chair... then we went into the next house; 'Gothic'. I underestimated this house, I figured it would just be a fun one filled with Gargoyles and it wouldn't be too scary... I was right, except for the last part... because the people in these houses KNOW who to target. lol. And out of no where to my left came a freaking gargoyle guy, and according to my boyfriend and my brother, I screamed so violently that I had to take a second breath to continue the scream... this is where the fun began. lol. I could hear my entire group cracking up in every house this happened in. And I kept going from cracking up to doing a blood curdling double-scream. It was completely natural and slightly embarrassing, but I wasn't embarrassed... I couldn't help but laugh every single time after lol.

Next up was Dead End... all I can say is, the blood-curdling double screams were happening every 5 seconds in this one. GREAT house!

After Dead End, was the Walking Dead house... by far my most favorite... all of us were screaming and at the same time pointing to everything in our nerded out excitement... it was awesome. And it led right out into the scarezone with the zombies... oh that was so much fun lol.

I'm a small person... only 5'2, standing next to my 6'3 boyfriend... so I seem like an easy target for these people. All of the scare-actors we came across tried, but I thought the scare-actors in each section were fun, they never scared me lol. This one freaky lookin 30 Days of Night type Vampire tried really hard to get me and I just looked at him and went "hello, friend"... lol.

The first zombie that came up to me ran right up to my face 'eating a leg'... I looked at her and went "om nom nom" (this was my natural reaction). This is how it went with all the scare-actors... including the chainsaw people. First (and only) Chainsaw person that tried to scare me... I just stood there and asked if I could use the chainsaw... lol.

After we all stood there and played with the Zombie scare-actors for quite a while, we went on to the next house... which was House of Horrors... again, I underestimated it; for the sole fact that I went into nerd mode. This house paid tribute to all the classic horror films, and for most of the house, that's what it did. Only a few scare-actors... which should have made me realize we were going to be traumatized at any moment. Turns out none of us anticipated every.single.old.villian come out at the end... in a small room, from every side, ALL at once... the amount of screaming and running that ensued between all of us was hilarious. It was a terrifyingly great surprise that made me feel like I was about to die lol. It was an awesome house.

Next up was Pen and Teller's 3D thing which was OK... my 3D glasses kept falling off so I just took them off, as I had one hand in my sister in law's hand and the other in my boyfriend's hand... wasn't gonna detach my hands to fix those effing glasses lol. But it was a pretty cool house. It was just kind of sillyish, and a little disorienting at one point because there's a room filled with like... multicolored christmas lights... and people dressed in these lights moving around as well... so I was like "are there people in light suits also? what's happening?" it confused me more than it freaked me out lol. But it was an interesting house.

Alice Cooper; the last house... that... was an interesting house lol. The most frightening part for me was the very end, I saw 2 scare-actors waiting to jump out at me... and I was like "oh screw this" and closed my eyes lol. Next thing I know, literally right in my ear I hear a random guy (scare-actor to my right) making smooching noises, i meana less than an inch from my ear... and alas, my blood curdling double scream, added with "MAKE IT STOP" followed. lmao. I was freaked out by that one for a few minutes afterwards...

So in short, the trip was a MAJOR success... all of us want to try and get the funds to go back before Halloween. My favorite houses were, in order; The Walking Dead, Dead End, Gothic, House of Horrors, and Silent Hill... though if we go back i'm not quite sure i'll go back into Silent Hill. lol. But it was a great house, genuinely frightening even without people jumping at you.

Here's a few pics from the night;

Ps, not sure why this photo came out so blurry! My sister in law kept trying and it kept coming out blurry, same happened when I took a picture of her and my brother near it

And lastly, this was taken the next morning... I call this picture, 'Success'. lol me sporting the shirt I bought before leaving the park....

This! Screw you USA for having all the fun stuff, I just missed out on Halloween horror nights when I went on holiday to Orlando back in 2010

Sounds and looks like you had a heinously good time, the TWD shirt looks sweeeet.

on a sidenote, your brother kind of looks like James Van der Beek in this photo

Thanks for sharing your experience, MM! It sounds like a fantastic time.

We were seriously thinking of going. Now, my BF is going out of town for 3 weeks. I could still go with my neighbors but if I am home alone for 3 weeks, I don't think I could handle going home to a empty house.
What can I say, I'm a wus!

I saw the shirt... and i'd been reeeeally good with my budget.... (only thing I bought that night besides it was an "IV pack"... which was quite a yummy IV of a jello shot. :P) and when I saw the shirt, I looked at my boyfriend, looked at the shirt and said "yeah, I don't have a choice". lol. I love it! They had a few other Zombie shirts with silly sayings, like "Zombie bait"... but I saw this one and was like "^___^" lol.

LOL oh my! i'll have to tell him that!

You're welcome! :D I was sitting here smiling like a nerd while reliving it. haha.

Aww, I don't blame you lol. I was perfectly fine the night we went, no trouble sleeping... no freaked out feeling at all. Then the next night when we got back, for whatever reason I got REALLY freaked out with anything revolving around Silent Hill... lol. and I love the movie (never played the game - been trying to get the courage to for years) but it freaked me out so bad I had a slight panic attack. It was so strange. I'm fine now, I was actually driving around the other night blasting the song they play during the movie lol. That night though I couldn't even think of it or I started shaking. Made no sense!

Don't worry, you're not a wus... if you'd seen me in those houses, you'd feel MUCH better :P lmao. there were points where they just had chains hanging down and one hit my sister in law, and then me, and i remember just screaming and losing it like someone was stabbing me. lmao. houses ALWAYS get me... I used to hate and avoid them as a kid. Now i'm just weird and enjoy the feeling of how much they terrify me lol

This thread reminded me of a video I was once shown at school where Ellen sent her writer Amy into a haunted house and she just screams at anything. Even if nothing is there :D

lmfao I just lost it. The double scream! that's what kept coming out of my lungs when something got me really good... it was usually followed by "OH MY GOD" or "GOD HELP ME" really loudly ... lmao. That video just made my day. I love Ellen lol

When Amy's mom sneaks up behind her, and Amy keeps on screaming, even after she recognizes her, is me exactly. I haven't been to a haunted house since I was 12. It would probably be hilariously funny, but I'd rather be the one scaring people.

lmao that's what had me most panicked! When I was little I didn't go anywhere NEEEEAR haunted houses... so when I went to Horror Nights for the first time ever with my sister a few years back, I was both terrified and excited... 'cause that would be my first haunted house experience. and BOY it was fun. It worked out well though, because it wasn't TOO much for the first time... we got there late and couldn't afford express passes so we did only a few houses, but we still had an amazing time and I got kind of mildly introduced into to the haunted house and horror nights world but subtly... and when we went, they had safe zones. So that was a great first experience for me. I could stand on the side walk and not have to worry about scareactors coming after me.

This year, there were NO safe zones... we got express passes and did everything, made sure to get there early enough... and thank GOD I had been before because I don't know how this would've ended if it were my first time! lol. Thankfully, now, I love it! This stuff to me is like... how Roller Coasters are to some people... for some reason now I love getting the life scared out of me. lmao. I get an extreme adrenaline rush
