Sorry to word that like a high school drop out, but I couldn't help myself. Carl (in the TV show) looks like a sheltered whimp and quite frankly I'm worried that if he tries to act as boldly as comic book Carl it would come off as unconvincing and a little humorous. I realize some actors who are really into their craft (Tom Hardy) would go as far to put on some weight and bulk up to look the part, but we're talking a TV show on AMC that pays their actors no where near what an actor of Tom Hardy's calibre would see. Not to mention the kid who plays Carl in the TV show is pretty young, so the hopes of seeing him try to "toughen up" are pretty far gone.

How do you guys feel about this? Carl, in some ways, is my favorite character. But he really disappoints on television.

The kid who plays Carl on the TV show is older than comic book Carl; age has nothing to do with it.

He has been pretty annoying on the show thus far, but with a mom like Lori it's hard to be surprised. I'm hoping Carl grows up & becomes more tolerable in S3. I don't think the TV character is ruined just yet.

Near the end of Season 2 he got Pretty annoying. But Then again, yeah theyre making Lori into psycho bitch.  I think I saw a meme somewhere in here " only person driving, still crashes ", she's just too overdramatic sometimes

Definitely agree they wont show an infant being killed on screen. I have no qualms with the actual age of Carl in the comic versus the actual age of Carl in the TV show, but I just feel the people writing the show have yet to explore the dynamic of Carl's hardened persona that becomes prevalent in the comics.

Well they had to put in him in his childhood form before the shit really starts hitting the fan. So that they can have something to build from. I think him causing dales death and all the other dumb shit he's done is a part of him hardening and growing up.  Wait for some more people close to him to bite it, and for him to get zombie attacked . He'll start turning into the comic character everyone loves

Good call, some times I forget how much slower the TV show progresses in terms of plot and character development.

Yeah seriously, sometimes it gets annoying. But I've heard that they're going to be jumping time a lot faster. And since they're going to stick with the same actors, we may see a teenaged Carl.

I'm content with the actor playing Carl's performance, the kid does a great job. So hopefully the writers will find a way to ease him into the transition of becoming a bad ass.

I'm pretty sure you're right in that they'll tone it down, but I don't know how much. In regards to AMC, I've seen some pretty brutal things on Breaking Bad, so I think they may be willing to push it for TWD.

a mother and her new born baby being exploded by a shotgun will never happen on AMC maybe on HBO never on normal cable. It will never happen like in the comics besides whos to say lori wont be around for a long time just like shane was dragged out.
IF she dies during the prison arc on the TV show it will be shown off screen or something different all together. The stuff that has come out about the prison so far really dont match up to the comics already like Andrea and michonne meeting the Gov first wasnt it rick and glen , michonne in the comics. What about the scene they show with Rick talking to the Gov at the prison gate telling him its there prison that ever happend in the comics either.

PT that was just good editing. Look at the pants closer, they are blue like the prison jumpsuits they're using.  I doubt it's some sort of west side story showdown in front of the prison .

Not saying it won't be edited. I'm also perfectly aware of the fact that the show won't follow the prison arc to a T. Just saying that AMC has shown some pretty brutal things on WD and their other programs (many scenes involving kids, too), so we don't know how graphic they're willing to get.

Im not a huge fan of the show just not that good in my opinion , now dont get me wrong i still watch every week and enjoy it but its never going to be as good as the comic in my opinion. So i have not been keeping up on all the news for the show to much or the editing of the trailer so i will not comment on things i dont know much about anymore...
But Carl from the comic would kick the shit out of that bitch on TV lol
