I posted this in another thread but I figured it deserved a thread of its own.
For the last 2 days, I have been seeing

Oops! Google Chrome could not find www.roamersandlurkers.com

Additional suggestions:
  • Access a cached copy of www.roamersandlurkers.com
Also got similar message on IE and Fox. No other sites were affected. This has happened for shorter periods before but never more than a couple of hours.I know that some sites go down for maintenance occasionally but it seems that the problem does not affect everyone. Just curious what the problem might be?

For a reasonable fee, I will quell minor outbreaks, enforce quarantines, and dispatch infected relatives.

Major Tom, no problem here was on Friday, Sat. and today. I'm coming from Md. using Comcast, and have had no interruptions to the site at all. Maybe ISP related??
Don't think i posted anything but was reading posts? Also i am using IE and Mozilla Firefox for browsers.

I use to experience the same problem on occasions (not with R&L), usually the problem is due to the DNS server which I changed and the problem was solved. Of course there are other things that could be causing the issue but that's what caused mine.

I am fairly sure this is also my problem. I have researched it some and I see how it might be fixed but with this site being the only one affected, I'll probably let well enough alone. So far it always comes back sooner or later and I'll survive in the mean time. I was mainly just curious to know if it was just me and it apparently is.

I actually ran into a similar problem using Chrome with another site. Uninstalled and reinstalled and it was cool.
Where's the blacksmith??!!!!

That would be an easy fix but for the fact that I tried other browsers and got the same problem. I suppose it is possible Chrome could be screwing up the DNS for all browsers. If it happens again I will try that

How did you fix this? It\'s been happening to me for a day or two (I can only view the site through a free proxy server). It does it on my laptop and on my computer, which I never even accessed the site on before and on different browsers, too. :(

I tend to have obscure issues with google chrome, so it wouldnt surprise me at all if it is infact the chrome browser scewing something up.

I've been having issues for the past few days on Firefox....it will give me the message it can't locate R&L and to check if I'm using ww.com or www.com.....and if I just hit refresh or try again usually I can get back in on the 2nd or 3rd try ...yesterday I had to try about 4 times before it let me back in.....

If the traffic is heavy (and it has been) that might have something to do with those sorts of errors.

I doubt it is the Chrome browser doing it. I use Internet Explorer and Chrome as a backup and it is doing the same thing on both of them. :( The only way I am able to access the site is to go to http://www.freeproxyserver.net and go to the site from there. I am so mad, I miss being able to use the website normally (even though I just joined last week :P)

I really have no idea, I am sorry. I checked the IP adresses and they are not banned or flagged.  Its only a few people having this issue so I cant think its the forum itself. Maybe Rumblepup will be able to have a better idea of what the issue might be. Also, you should avoid proxy sites as they  you can end up with viruses and malware, etc.

I've been getting the odd, Oops- Google Chrome could not connect to www.roamersandlurkers.com, but a quick browser reset usually fixes the issue. Strange that it's acting up for some people using multiple browsers, it could be something to do with the sites server/database screwing up, but then that would affect the majority of people. Maybe try clearing your cache/delete cookies, reset router, see if that works? :o Also worth a read http://www.ghacks.ne...nect-to-errors/

but I can't find it.

I have not been able to access this site for 2 days. I have tried 3 browsers, adjusted settings and this still happens on my desktop and laptop computer intermittently about once or twice a month. This is the only site affected.

It's not a huge deal but it is annoying and annoyingly puzzling. It has to be something about the R&L server.
