Hello to all.........
I would like to tell you a story, first my name is Jack
Second I have a very good friend who has NEVER seen the walking dead tv show, nor has she ever read the comic or knows anything about the walking dead tv show.
She is being hounded by the producers of the show
she has been accused of downloading an episode of the walking dead, the thing is her internet DSL modem is passworded and at the time of the download she was at work, working a double shift. she lives alone, has had no one in her house. Yet the lawyers for the tv show are threatening her with a lawsuit if she does not pay $1000 dollars for the episode.
She met with the lawyers and showed them her time card proving she was working while the download was occurring and she even turned over her computer for which they thoroughly checked it out and found that the episode in question was never on her computer but they are still demanding that she pay or go to court.
Even more fascinating is that she did not even know what the tv show is about and has admitted to never seeing any episode, but they dont care they just want to threaten this poor girl with legal action.
She has since now seen a few episodes on german tv so she can try to understand what its all about.
She says the german translation leaves something to be desired but I just thought it would be an interesting news item about the show................

Most likely somebody was using a proxy with her modem IP address. $1000 for downloading 1 episode?
They just pull random numbers out their ass.

No no no no no right, I once downloaded a picture of Kevin Spacey in a rubber frogman-esque mini-skirt and I got a letter from German lawyers for the Walking Dead asking me to pay £2000 in order to release £20m from an account they've got somewhere in central Africa. Obviously, I didn't have £2000 so I sent them a cheque for £1250 and I'm just waiting for them to get back to me.

This is a fairly standard tactic used when the copyright Nazis want to make an example of someone. Most people just cave and pay off. If the case is as stated they don't have a leg to stand on. She just needs to stand up to them.
I have a degree in Network Engineering. When I want to spoof an I.P. address for some reason, I just make one up as Asceniiiic said.. I don't take the time to trace it. Generally I use an I.P. that would not commonly be assigned to an individual. Most people aren't worried about such niceties.

Yes, I'm sure the producers aren't busy doing anything else.
Maybe this is their way of making up the lost revenues from losing Dish Networks.

I don't think he means Gale Anne Hurd, Glenn Mazzara etc.. lol There are more departments in the producing role, executive producer, co -executive producer, consulting producer, associate producer etc..

I'm pretty sure the actual producers have nothing to do with such things. The bean counters and ambulance chasers however are another story. Sony used to be big on doing this. They eventually dropped it, because it's really hard to haul an I.P. address into court.

What I meant by that was that the lawyers would be contacting her, most likely not anyone with the show directly.

I don't know. . .he always seemed a little dictatorial to me. . .in a snide, sarcastic, New York-ish sort of way.
