Hey there, my zombie loving posters.

Now, I would like to start off that I think that I'm probably the youngest one here(possibly). Just finished my first year of high school, so yeah. (I swear this is relevant).

The Walking Dead has an astounding amount of die-hard fans. No one can argue that. But it's the people who "claim" they are fans, when they don't even know what the hell they are talking about.

Since Season 2 aired when I was in school, every Monday I'd hear some person talking about last nights episode. Nothing wrong with that, right? I don't ever talk about TWD other than with my brother, because we both watch the crap out of it. (Of course, I discuss it with you guys as well.) This is why.

Some kid comes strolling into a class, and is all- "Who saw TWD's episode last night?!"
Trippy- "I did! It was great! I'm a huge fan of it."
Idiot- "Me too! The cop guys is awesome, but his friend is better. Do you know what happened to his hair?"

And I'm just like... -_-;

People who say they are a huge fan of something, should at least know the character's name. One incident, I had to literally argue that "Carl" was not named "Carson", and that argument was with someone who had claimed to have seeing every single episode. I'd get it if you just started watching or something, but really?

Yes, to answer your question that you're probably thinking by now, I am a nerd/freak for this show.

ANOTHER THING, it kills me every time someone complains and is like, "Omg guise, liek whur all da zombays?!?!?!"

*sigh* I just, it just makes me frustrated. You guys can discuss.

That's the problem when something popular like this goes from print media to something mass like television or film. Look at other comics like the X-Men that turned to television, movies, etc.

You have self-proclaimed "fans" "experts" that only know the movie trilogy or watched the 90s cartoon and they think they have a clue when in fact they have just a slim portion of it.

But yeah, I know what you mean. Some people should simply say that they like the show rather than stating that they're obsessed when they hardly know anything about it.. There's always going to be people like that though so  I tend to ignore them.

However, then we have the other end when the person who is obsessed expects everyone else to be obsessed. I have a friend who's like that; if I don't know something about the walking dead, he'll have a go at me for not knowing and say that ''I'm not a real fan'' -.- There'll always be people at both ends of the stick; so far to the end that they actually fall off it.

That picture made my day. How does one get "Carson" from "Carl"?

I have a friend, and I'm being generous by saying "friend", that is like that as well. A big know-it-all, and if you don't know something, you're beneath them.

Trippy, there are fans and then there are "FANS."  We here at R&L are what could be called the lunatic fringe of fans. All of your life you will meet people who are insincere, shallow, condescending blowhards. There are also those who are just plain stupid. There are so many of these people that they aren't really worth the time and effort to argue with. Most of them can't be convinced anyway. So just don't bother with them. There are bigger problems in life than these jacka##es. Considering you're age I probably shouldn't post this, but I imagine this isn't the first time you've seen the word.

Robert Downey Jr. voiced the principle I've operated on for the last five decades.

You really don't need to worry about cussing, or any other material that is deemed inappropriate for a younger audience. My family has raised me well, or so I believe, and they've always told me what's actually out there in the real, bad world.

I actually am quite fond of Robert Downy, Jr., and that quote made me respect him even more.

And yes, I do understand what you're saying. It's just hard when you're trying to have a civil conversation with someone, and you can't even continue because their opinion and mindset is too stubborn.

I can understand your rant, Trippy. I know of only one other person IRL who has watched TWD, and he said it was "boring."

Depending on your circle of friends or family, I would say that you really can't hold a lengthy, serious talk about TWD in the real world. It's only on dedicated forums like this in which you can expand on the show and usually expect an intelligent response.

Okay this made me laugh so hard my whole family just looked at me like I was mental.

Trippy  I understand where you're coming from, its frustrating when you are a fan of something then someone who claims to be just as fanatic comes along with all their info only to have no idea what they're on about. But also this person may be becoming a fan and getting things wrong as a mistake. I know when I first started I kept getting mixed up between Daryl and Dale  I figured it out soon enough but I would have looked like an idiot discussing those characters with someone who was a big fan.

lmao that almost killed me. I laughed out loud.

But yeah, people like that piss me off... even after years of dealing with these people in the music scene, I never get used to them. Fakes are a pet peeve of mine.

Take one of my favorite bands (Avenged Sevenfold) for instance... I began listening to them when their second CD came out on Hopeless Records... no one knew who they were, yadda yadda yadda... and then all of a sudden, Bat Country comes out and suddenly, there are millions of "i'm your biggest fan!11!!! lyk sign mah bewbiez!!"

Then you try to converse with these people and the amount of fails is just too much... you ask their favorite song and they name off the most RANDOM song that they've never even listened to, which causes an automatic face palm. And of course, you leaving the conversation.

It's just a huge pet peeve of mine... so I understand perfectly. It's cool if you like the show without being nutso over it, but if that's the case then don't act like you're nutso over it!! who are you trying to impress!?

I always feel like I HAVE to explain to people that "hey, my boyfriend and I have been watching since day 1... we became obsessed immediately", otherwise they judge you. True story.

I understand Trippy. It's no fun talking to those lukewarm fans. If I hear a conversation like you described, I walk away if possible. If I am trapped I just nod and grunt.

We do owe a debt of gratitude to those fans. They are the majority and they keep the ratings up by watching. TV history is littered with shows that fans alone tried and failed to save. Firefly and Space Above And Beyond are two that come to mine.

Sooo...when we see those types encourage them to watch and tell them about the comic books if they are the kind that might like them. Noting will hook you on the TV series like reading the GN.
For a reasonable fee, I will quell minor outbreaks, enforce quarantines, and dispatch infected relatives.

I have to say that talking to die hard fans about TWD is a lot easier than talking to people who just "watch". My brother and his wife watch TWD but neither of them are as "fanatical" about it as me. My brother made the mistake of calling me once right after the episode where Lori whispers in Rick's ear about Shane... needless to say I was a raving lunatic! Now when I bring up The Walking Dead around my brother, he looks nervous and changes the subject. LOL
It's all daft. Daft like buggery, innit?

We could create an underground network of Jon Bernthal lovers and ship him back and forth between club members after we are thru with him. I don't mind sharing. Posted Image

Hi Babs you probably saw this but I thought it was cool, this is all I could add

An alternate ending for Shane
Posted on May 29, 2012 by carlRecently, Jon Bernthal (Shane, if you didn’t know already) attended Phoenix’s Comic-Con and told an interesting story about the death of his character. Apparently Andrew Lincoln (Rick) and Jon came up with an alternate ending for Shane’s character. Watch the video below and try not to get chills as he retells it.

Well, I think that sorta disproves the whole suicide by cop theory that did the rounds a while ago - at least in terms of canon. I bet Bernthal believes it, though...

I saw that Sweet Sis. It actually wasn't a bad idea. I think the thing with Bernthal is, that he liked his character and didn't want him to "go nuts" or be all bad. But the writers, showrunner and creator wanted the show to go in the same direction as the comics.

I know what you mean. I have two friends that watch the show but thats it, they just watch it. They still don't even know all the caracters names. They would start talking to me about it and call Andrea "The annoying blonde lady", Beth "The hot suicidal girl" and my fave name they have use instead of Lori "The bag of whore" :D  I brought one of my volumes into school once to lend to this girl who is a hardcore fan, and my friends didn't even know the show was also acomic.
To be fair I had never heard of The Walking Dead when I watched the first ep but I was looking on the internet and collected the comics straight after that episode.
Now, after 2 whole seasons I find it shocking that people who watch the show don't know its based on a comic. My friends should hang there heads in shame
