Pappa JayJay has been put to rest after he stopped eating and lost half his weight in a week. Xrays revealed a large lymphoma tumor in his belly. We stayed with him the whole time. They gave him a sedative that took about 15 mins to affect him and so he was zoned out pretty good for the second shot. He died so fast. I felt his heart stop. It was peaceful for him but so sad for us. I already miss him the house will never be the same.  :(

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die...

See you at the Rainbow Bridge, buddy.

My condolences. I can relate, having gone through very similar with my 17 year old lil' girl late last year.  These little guys become members of the family, and losing them is always rough.  It sounds like your little guy had a loving environment and people who cared about him, so I'm sure his days here were quite happy. :)

Bless you, the Cade Family Cat ™ is 18 now, and it's only a matter of time now for the old girl; we'll be devastated when it happens so I can really relate to how you're feeling right now.

So sorry for the loss of your friend. My husband and I have gone thru a similar experience and it was one of the most difficult things we've ever had to do. There's not much I can say to ease your pain, but please take comfort in knowing that I care.
It's all daft. Daft like buggery, innit?

Oh man, instantly I teared-up. I take the loss of pets really poorly and your kitty looks just like one of our current critters, which made it even more poignant.I'm sorry for your loss. Having pets is great, but damn does it hurt when they pass.

Thank you kindly. It sure does hurt. In fact it is downright devastating. I miss him terribly and things have not been easy. Allow me to indulge in another emotional sentiment, as it helps me to grieve.

The day Dan and I discovered the breed known as the Maine Coon cat at the local SPCA little did we know how our lives would change. It is still hard not to cry whenever I talk or think about JayJay. JayJay, later known as Pappa JayJay - who leapt onto Dans shoulder at the SPCA and in that second I knew he was ours. He came straight home with us and since that day we have experienced so much love together that I doubt he could even recall the owners’ face who gave him away at 3 years of age.

He was our very first Maine Coon - a gentle and very vocal giant. He was always there to greet me when I came home. Always there at 5pm on the dot to loudly announce it was supper time. Always let me know EXACTLY how he was feeling - from complaining cries to affectionate mews. He loved to give us head-butt love and kisses. He loved to lie on my chest at night and kneed on the sheet or rest above my head and drool all over me and step in my hair. He loved to sleep in the sink when it was hot. He followed me into the bathroom every morning and sat in the window whilst I showered. He would come running when he heard the bag of Greenies - AKA kitty-crack treats.

He hated going to the vet but still managed to be cute and friendly with a thermometer shoved into his butt. He was always there to greet our family and friends - and he became friend to all who had the pleasure to know him. A special cat that I will never forget and as I said before it will never be the same around our house without him. I still catch glimpses of him out of the corner of my eye. The sound of his voice is noticeably absent, he can no longer greet me at the door, his cat bed is empty, his brothers still search the house for him and all his toys are lonely. But he will live on in our hearts and memories forever and always. xxoo

I was so sorry to hear of the loss of your beautiful kitty. Sorry to just post this now but I've been away. I remember the fur babies that have come and gone in our lives and know what it's like to lose one. I hope you've taken comfort in that you've done the last kind thing for him.
I didn't come here to hurt you, but now I can't stop.
