I'm sure we'll have a much better idea of what is to come in Issue 100 after Issue 99 comes out.

(none of this is shown) The saviours, after fleeing, get in their vehicles and drive to the hilltop. Using their guns, they blackmail Jesus into getting them inside the community, because Rick trusts him.
(the rest is shown) Rick tells Andrea he's not going to allow the events that occurred at the prison to repeat themselves. He holds a meeting and tells everyone to prepare for a fight, and that none may leave the community for the time being. He opens the armoury and distributes jobs. Cars are driven up against the walls and round-the-clock watch is set up.
Inside their house, Rick tells Carl that he needs to keep his gun on him at all times and Rick is shocked when Carl tells him that for once, he is scared. Rick is called out of his house by Glenn, who points out that Jesus is at the gate. Rick orders that they open the gate for Jesus, and they do. On the penultimate page Jesus approaches Rick, and Rick notices he has tears in his eyes. On the last page it is a full page shot of Jesus, and the saviours right on the other side of the open gate, all armed. Jesus says; "I'm Sorry."

After Jesus says "I'm Sorry." Rick dives behind the nearest house as the saviours open fire, instantly killing Glenn and Aaron who opened the gate. They stream into the community shooting everyone they see. Rick runs to his house to get Carl, but he is not there. Outside Eric sees that Aaron has been killed and charges at the Saviours, firing blindly. He shoots a few of the saviours, until Dwight fires a bolt through his skull. Rick leaves his house and runs to Maggie's house, where he finds Maggie and Sophia hiding under the kitchen table. He asks for Carl but they say they haven't seen him. Upstairs in the same house is Andrea, who is picking off Saviours with her rifle. Rick tells her he's lost Carl, tears in his eyes. Andrea tells him she'll cover him from the house while he looks for Carl. Rick leaves and Andrea snipes the Saviours who get in his way. Dwight sees that most of the saviours are being sniped from Maggies' house. He and another saviour set it alight. Maggie grabs Sophia and runs out of the front door, where Dwight shoots them. Andrea Notices the house is on fire and runs to the stairs, but the lower floor is completely ablaze. Outside, Dwight laughs, before a sword is shoved through his stomach from behind. It is Michonne, who is with Carl. Withdrawing her sword from Dwight she beheads him, and Carl shoots the other saviour. Rick approaches the church and enters, inside is Gabriel, Holly, Spencer, Eugene and Rosita. He asks again for Carl, who is absent. At that moment a small group of four saviours bursts in. They are armed only with hand weapons eg. baseball bats. Ricks group opens fire on them, killing all but one. Rick approaches him, and asks if he's seen his son (gives a description). He snarls and tells Rick he killed him. Rick slowly mutilates him in front of everyone. Carl and Michonne appear at the entrance to the church. Carl sees what his father has done, and believes he has reached a point of no return. He then shoots Rick in the head.

Yeah the last part isn't very realistic it was more for shock value, its very unlikely Rick will die. I wouldn't be surprised if Carl or Michonne dies though.

I cant imagine that a slaughter, the likes of which we saw at the Prison, would be the big reveal.
Been there done that!
Yeah, ITS GOT TO BE THE IMMUNITY methinks!

How would that be a dark moment in Rick's life though?

So Rick realizes Carl is "something to fear" as he is a younger more emotionless version of himself. In his "darkest moment" Rick realizes he has to kill Carl in order to save others.
Perhaps he even sees it as a mercy killing in the context of their situation. The world took Carls innocence and made Carl cold and ruthless.

This. I thought the same thing, but I'm honestly not sure. It would be surprising, for sure. People think he's smiling during the preview, but I didn't interpret it that way when I read it. We'll have to see.
And nice job.. I never even thought of Carl as "Something to Fear". That would be really messed up!

Rather than specifically Carl being something to fear, I think it could be more that the younger generation as a whole are something to fear. In a sense they won't have any memories of society, civilisation e.t.c. and could, and probably will, grow to be more savage. The fact that they aren't being exposed to morals and socials norms means that when the current generation dies - those that lived their lives in the pre-zombie world - society and civilisation as it was once known will be forever lost?

Interesting take.

My prediction is based on the following clues that recently have come up;
My best interpretation of these and prediction;
I honestly I hope I am completely wrong and this reach of a post feels stupid on July 12th. But I want this theory on record in case it happens.
All I know is Rick, Carl and Andrea need to have an immunity necklace. And I will hunt you down Kirkman.

[spoiler]Winter is Here? I don't think this makes much sense in terms of a normal winter, I don't feel a full year has passed since the no way out arc, when it was snowing as the Zombies came in. This is what leads me to this off the wall prediction; Perhaps Nuclear Winter?
Lucile is Coming? I honestly want this to be a evil Women Antagonist that lasts for a while, giving us the first true villain since the Governor but uniquely different. But does this not sound like a name 1950's armed forces would paint on a bomb, maybe a nuclear bomb?
Prediction; Issue 99 is bunch of setup leading into a large scale battle between the saviors and Team Grimes. A bloody battle wages at the start of Issue #100, with the Saviors suffering heavy losses and maybe the death of major character (Michone? It might be her time, give her a heroes death please). Saviors retreat, but soon after somebody appears outside the gate with Carl, during the battle somebody climbed over the wall in another part and captured him. They demand that Rick comes with them, he does.
After a very long ride, they get to an open field, Negan (Finally revealed) talks to Rick about the trouble he has caused and that the Saviors need to remain feared by the rest of the remaining communities. He reveals the Battle was just a diversion, they used it to take Carl and plant a bomb near the wall of the community, they call it Lucille, that Rick must now chose between his child's life and his community. Rick chooses Carl (Darkest moment of Rick's Life) and we see a Mushroom Cloud in the air to end the issue.
What we don't see and won't for a few issues is that the rest of Alexandria found the Bomb shortly after the battle and most were able to evacuate in time.
It's the only way I have been able to put all this information together that satisfies all the conditions. It's a huge stretch but the "Winter is Here" can only be explained so many ways as it was just recently winter.
Rick has lost everything he built, their safe zone, have a new enemy to fear, many new trials now await, which this comic needs since they have become the BA's of the ZA after No Way Out with no worthy opposition. We also have been in Alexandria for a long time and Kirkman may by looking for an event to force the characters to a new exciting location that doesn't stink Prison Massacre Redux. Our heroes struggling against all odds makes for good reading, and Kirkman may be looking for a button to beat his own creations back down from their recent pedestal..
Ehhh, I don't buy into most the Alexandria citizens escaping. Kirkman said that this would easily be the most bloody and gruesome yet (even outdoing the Prison assault), so I'm expecting only like one or two of them to get away scot-free.
