Hi

My name is Lilja and I'm a huge fan of The Walking Dead, both the comic and the TV series. I even try to run a site dedicated to it; The Walking Dead News  (http://twdnews.wordpress.com/) check it out if you like.

I'm also very interested in Stephen King and have a site about him as well; Lilja's Library - The World of Stephen King () even if he has nothing to do with The Walking Dead :-)

I hope to have time to be active here on the forum since I love reading all your comments about the series...and I hope to join in.

Welcome, Lilja!

Nice site.

I'm currently re-reading a couple of SK's books.

Well, I was in the mood for short stories and wanted to re-read The Mist, so I'm reading, Skeleton Crew. I also couldn't remember if I had read, Just after Sunset, so I got that one from the library, as well.

What of King's work do you like Lilja? I like all of his short stories. My opinion is his best work is when he keeps it shorter. Salem's Lot is good example, "From a Buick Eight," 'Misery," "Delores Claiborne," and 'Bag of Bones" also.

Not that his longer pieces are bad. "The Stand" is a masterpiece. "It" is great, though I really didn't care for the ending.

I always felt King's great gift is the ability to make you feel as if you actually know the characters. It is almost as if you aren't reading, but are actually there.

He certainly has a feel for the human condition.

Tell me your thoughts. What are your ideas.

By the way, how do you feel about Dean Koontz?

My all time favorit is The Long Walk which is a shorter work but I love his longer works as well. The Dark Tower series is great, The Stand, IT. There are many great books.

I like his shorter works as well, he has a new shortstory coming out soon that he wrote with his son Joe Hill that you might want to check out: http://www.liljas-li...cle.php?id=3141

When it comest to Koontz I haven't read that much of his and the once I did read never really got a hold on me.

Felt the same way about Koontz. Never knew what to expect. The only book I really liked was "Watchers."

I read a book from Koontz that was so bad, I purged it from my memory. I haven't picked up another one of his since.

Is The Long Walk the one where the kids had to walk at a certain pace for a certain amount of time or be mowed down by gunfire? I can't remember what the payoff for winning was in that story. I remember it was pretty chilling, though. Regardless, I'm still not talking to Stephen King after he wrote himself into the DT series. Hated that.

Welcome. :)

:-) Thanks!

There are a lot of fans that didn't like that he wrote himself in the story but please forgive him for it and read the books. It's your loss if you don't :-)

And yes, The Long Walk is about the kids walking.
