Robert Kirkman

the creator of the acclaimed series ‘The Walking Dead’ and Skybound has announced that this year at

Comic-Con

they will be preparing a zombie obstacle course to commemorate the 100th issue of ‘The Walking Dead’ series at Petco Park. Here’s what Kirkman has to say about

the event

;

“Our fans have been reading about it, watching it and now they get to live it with The Walking Dead Escape. We are literally transforming Petco Park into the early days of society’s collapse and San Diego is just the first city to fall.”

All the details of ‘The Walking Dead Escape’ has yet to be released but sources say that it will be an interactive experience with Walking Dead references throughout the location. Participants of the event can participle in one of three ways; be a survivor and race through a zombie infested evacuation zone, be a walker who joins the ranks of the undead, or a spectator who watches from the sidelines during an escape party. And after completing the course depending on the decisions you make in the interactive displays it will determine whether or not you’re infected as a zombie. This course looks to be one of the events to look out for at this years Comic-Con and would likely attract a large number of fans from both the TV and the comic book series.

San Diego Comic-Con 2012 will run though July 12-15.

Awww If only I lived in San Deigo or even just America. I would travel! That sounds very cool.

"Have you ever wondered how you'd fare in the zombie apocalypse? If you answered "no," you're a liar. If you're like the rest of us, you ponder your strategy probably more often than you should.Now, Robert Kirkman and Skybound/Image Comics are giving you the chance to put those strategies to the test with The Walking Dead Escape, a multi-day event that coincides with San Diego Comic-Con, held July 12-15. Taking place inside San Diego's Petco Park, Escape will put its participants into a zombie-themed obstacle course in which they can act as a Survivor who races through the infected zone, a Walker that embraces their destiny as the undead, or simply a Spectator that observes the madness."

"The official release says, "Survivors will climb, crawl and slide in an effort to avoid confrontation by hordes of Walkers, while achieving the ultimate adventure on The Walking Dead-themed obstacle course. The Walking Dead Escape is not a race, and Survivors are not timed, but the end is near, and they must move swiftly. If they’re lucky, Survivors will reach the decontamination zone at the end where it will be determined if they have been infected."

San Diego sounds very cool this year. I hope a specator captures the action from this course on video and posts it on youtube.

It sounds fun! I want to do it, but I don't want to spend the entire day in a line.

Petco Park is where the Padres play and is quite the ballpark in size. That would be VERY cool to attend; hopefully we get some film out of it to keep us entertained.

Are you going to do the obstacle, or go to the Comic Con?
