The original Shane death was very powerful and it was a scene that I would love to change. Change in a way that we keep Shane alive, I am a huge Shane fan in the show (Comic wise he was in it for what 6 issues at best?) Scarface had that effect on me as well in that I didn't want him to die or better not die the way he did.

I guess when entertainment and a story grips you it can have that effect on you. So whilst I'm saying I would like to change it, I am also very very happy to keep it the way it is. I don't know it's a cycle in my mind. It could be done hundreds of ways and I'd still like to see them all! Love deleted scenes or Alternate endings on films for this reason.

Aww...Jon Bernthal seems like a really nice, "normal" guy. Great video.

I liked the way Jon played Shane because I think he really nailed how I veiwed the Rick/Shane relationship. I know that some people think that Shane always thought he was the better man, but I don't agree. I think even near the end of season 2 Jon played Shane as having a love/hate relationship with Rick. He was sickeningly jealous of Rick, but he still loved Rick. There were many times in season 2 where Shane really disagreed with Rick and yet he still supported him publicly. Seriously, their relationship was like man and wife! Ha ha(no I don't ship them..but I think they had the most intense and maybe "deep" relationship on the show thus far)

But I think Jon's desired ending would have made ultimately less sense. It kind of would have glorified Shane, and I don't think that would be a good thing. I like what Rick said about Shane more, about how he wouldn't be able to stand himself if he had killed Rick..THAT I think is true and is consistent with what we saw of Shane. His jealousy and rage was escalating to the point where he may have gone through with pulling the trigger, but allowing his rage to have full rein would have tore him up afterwords, and ultimately destroyed whatever was left of the old Shane.

So I'm happy with his demise(as unhappy I am with him being gone) the way it is. But I respect that Jon saw Shane in a less demonised light than most viewers see him. I don't - and Jon doesn't - really see him as this big villain that a lot of people label him as.
