Irony, the Alano is small but yet it's legend is huge.

Sorry, Texas pride is larger than than the state.

Agreed

I am from west Texas more specifically El Paso Tx.  I left when I was seven and lived in Louisiana for 5 yrs then back to El Paso until I was 22 and I have been in the burbs of Atlanta ever since.

But my home town is a flat desert type place has beautiful sunsets. And love the summer nights where the temp was in the high 80s and not a cloud in the sky.  And you could see every star.

The summers are extremely hot like hellish hot that we call it hellpaso. And football is king on Friday nights. We were just a hop skip and jump away from Mexico which was cool in college to party.

I have framed poster in my office of the Alamo that reads " for Texas for Freedom".

We are a proud lot.

Sunderland, North East England.

Was ok 5 years ago, never been great. It's a ghostown and a shithole now.

Now, now can't have you being so down on your home town. There's surely something nice there. That glass museum is okay, isn't it?

The Town Centre is utter guff though, half the shops are shut  No Jobs

Yes, our river did catch on fire, and our sports teams usually suck, but we do have the Rock Hall and a few other gems, like the best fucking amusement park an hour or so away: Cedar Point.

We don't get hurricanes, typhoons, or tornado's, but we do get some suck ass snow storms and pretty frigid temperatures.

All-in-all a nice place to live. The people are generally friendly. There's a local bar or pub on practically every street corner, and some pretty decent restaurants to choose from.

On a side note, just a shout out to the Texans! I was stationed for 4 years at Fort Hood, right between Austin and Dallas/Fort Worth. Nice place to live, but damn it got hot in late summer!

Leicester, East Midlands, England

Like every other city, it has it's nice parts and it's shit areas. Some would say there is absolutely nothing to do here, the city is boring, no main attractions unlike other big cities in the UK ( London, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle).

The size of Leicester is relatively small, but has a population of around 300,000 - 1,000,000 within the Leicestershire area. It is, if not the most multicultural city in the UK, almost to the point where the majority of people are from Hindu/Muslim background.
The weather is rather shite, especially at the moment as it has been raining almost everyday since April, though it tends to get hotter around June/July and then back to rain for the rest of the summer, which is a regular thing for most British cities.

Despite this, I still think Leicester is a great place to live, considering I was born, raised and continue to live here, I guess it is a biased opinion, but it really does have everything you need, a huge shopping centre which was opened in 2008, more theatres are being built to host top music gigs, famous comedy festivals and theatre plays, sports stadiums for our local Football team Leicester City and Rugby team Leicester Tigers.

I guess the only downside to the city is the continuous influx of migrants and immigrants who come to look for work, only to find there's nothing here, then they create a mess, making the city look more of shit hole and increase the crime rate.

Pics, because why not?

I once met Zeljko Kalac, the Leicester City goalkeeper, in the bar of the Holiday Inn in Leicester. It's all I can really remember from that visit unfortunately. He wasn't a very nice chap if I recall and was a little off with the staff.

I know Whataburger's have spread into Louisiana, Oklahoma, New Mexico (I think), and maybe other bordering states, but it doesn't sound like they've reached Georgia... yet.

How could you not want one of these?

Hmm...my hometown; a loud, busy and sometimes smelly place where you're more likely to call the cops on your neighbors than invite them over for coffee; the shopping is a couple steps down from the best; the pizza is great and the river turns green on St. Patty's day. Home sweet home!

I grew up in a one stop light town in Florida, but now live in the capitol of the confederacy... ugh... can't wait to move.  I've never been one of those "the south will rise again" types.

@Kat, your beaches are beautiful.

Even though we only live 30 miles from the beach, we don't go enough. It has become one of those things were you go only when you have company visit. Sometimes, during season, it can take an hour or two to get over the bridge, because of traffic. One of the islands is known at the best shelling beach in North America.
