Would it be possible for someone to collate each separate thread for the same story and merge them into the original thread?

About the editing, I think some people were abusing that privilege because it wasn't always like that. However, that was changed before I was a mod, so I'm just guessing.

Yes, Im afraid its exactly like that. Without creating special groups for people there is no way to set it up for some to have an infinate amount of time for edits and not others. In the end its my decision and it stays as it is. Some forums you may not edit at all and most in an allowed time frame, which we do allow.
So within a set time frame you may edit - and 30 mins is more then enough time to proof-read and realise you've made a typo and edit the mistake and this stops less mature people from causing drama because they can not go back and change offensive/etc posts.

And it really wasn't too much work, mainly copy and paste. I used Notepad++ to do it and just copied it from that into the thread.

I'm sort of out of commission, right now, so hopefully, any major work on my part can wait a couple days.

One of the things I tried to do is to re-read my chapter before posting it. Often times I catch a lot more mistakes than I would think. Yes, there are still quite a few per chapter that I've posted but most of them are either technical or grammatical that I didn't realize were erroneous to begin with. (probably like that last sentence).
Proof read your writing... before clicking "Add Reply"... write your chapters on whatever word processor you're using MS Word or Open Office (what I use) and proof read it then... use every aid that the WP uses (spell-check and whatever else... even that stupid paper-clip... you don't have to agree with it and as annoying as it may be... umm it was (supposedly) written by folks who were english experts).
If necessary send it along to someone to proof-read it for you and they can catch what you missed. My gf has been doing that for me, no, she's not perfect engrish either but better than I am.
Hope these friendly suggestions help.
