Is it possible that an Admin or Mod could have a little tidy of the Fan fiction? I enjoy reading them but its hard to keep track of which one is which as it seems alot of people deemed it necessary to create a whole new thread for each update. I think it is a massive shame that people have worked hard to create and write a story, only for it to be lost in the depths of a messy subsection.

Would it be possible for someone to collate each separate thread for the same story and merge them into the original thread?

I agree TW.  I also have another general question.  Why can't I edit in that forum.  I started a story, and have gone back through it and realized I made some typos.  I'd like to be able to shore up my writing, just to make it cleaner, etc.  Is there a specific reason why we can't edit or is just a box not checked in the settings?

There is another thread on this subject. I said that I would be more than willing to pin the first chapter of the story and either link, or merge the other chapters, if the author wanted me to. Only two people have contacted me.

About the editing, I think some people were abusing that privilege because it wasn't always like that. However, that was changed before I was a mod, so I'm just guessing.

yes editing has been abused and you may not edit after a given amount of time. That will not change.

As for tidying this up Im all for it.

So, its the old everybody gets punished for the faults of a few.  Got it.  Don't really agree with it, but got it.  I personally like the punish the ones who abuse it, let everybody else edit their typos mentality.

Yes, Im afraid its exactly like that. Without creating special groups for people there is no way to set it up for some to have an infinate amount of time for edits and not others. In the end its my decision and it stays as it is. Some forums you may not edit at all and most in an allowed time frame, which we do allow.

So within a set time frame you may edit - and 30 mins is more then enough time to proof-read and realise you've made a typo and edit the mistake and this stops less mature people from causing drama because they can not go back and change offensive/etc posts.

But see, if it was 30 minutes that'd be one thing, but its not, its like 5 minutes, at least that is the way it seems.

Okay, I got a bunch of it done.  I think the rest is fairly simple, just a few more stories but not a whole bunch of chapters.  I think I'll let the mods take it from here.

And it really wasn't too much work, mainly copy and paste.  I used Notepad++ to do it and just copied it from that into the thread.

I'm up for whatever, as long as the Admins are fine with it. I pinned Sapper's thread. Let's keep all comments out of that thread to keep it all nice and tidy. I will lock it when he is finished, and make any needed edits as I am notified. :)

I'm sort of out of commission, right now, so hopefully, any major work on my part can wait a couple days.

Friendly suggestion to all the writers... esp. those desiring to edit after posting.
One of the things I tried to do is to re-read my chapter before posting it. Often times I catch a lot more mistakes than I would think. Yes, there are still quite a few per chapter that I've posted but most of them are either technical or grammatical that I didn't realize were erroneous to begin with. (probably like that last sentence).
Proof read your writing... before clicking "Add Reply"... write your chapters on whatever word processor you're using MS Word or Open Office (what I use) and proof read it then... use every aid that the WP uses (spell-check and whatever else... even that stupid paper-clip... you don't have to agree with it and as annoying as it may be... umm it was (supposedly) written by folks who were english experts).
If necessary send it along to someone to proof-read it for you and they can catch what you missed. My gf has been doing that for me, no, she's not perfect engrish either but better than I am.

Hope these friendly suggestions help.

Thank you Sapper for cataloguing the stories but Gracie had already pinned my thread. The main reason I decided to link off-site in the first place was because of  formatting glitches when I tried to copy and paste my document from Word to here. The third thing after spelling and grammar that makes it hard for a story to be readable is screwed up formatting. Not to sound redundant but it's difficult to transfer text from WP into forum systems and keep the structure and style, especially when you're doing a multi-chapter story. I guess the writer's here have to pick what works best for them, as long as it doesn't break any of the rules.
