Is it me or is there something about The Avengers that just doesn't seem as appealing as it should? Here ya' got what on paper should be a phenomenal action film and a comic fanboys dream come true, yet from what I've seen with the trailers and whatnot, my anticipation for it just isn't there.
Maybe it's the fact that it seems like just another hollywood "blockbuster" with great CG and pretty explosions or the fact that I'm not totally drawn into the characters given the actors they casted, I don't know. It's just that, I'm not particularly going batshit crazy in anticipation looking forward to it.
Not saying it won't be good - it very well could be the best action movie of the year and one of the best superhero movies of all time; I'm just not feeling it right now. Seems kind of overhyped.
Anyone else in the same boat?

I'm not a huge Avengers fan, personally. I'm having trouble mustering excitement over it, but will probably Netflix it when it's out of theaters. I saw both Iron Man movies on Blu-Ray and while I didn't hate them or anything, I was glad I didn't pay to see either in a movie theater.

I'm with you on this one. I'm not a fan of having all these superheroes in one movie. However those who have viewed the movie already have given it rave reviews. Like this one!! and this one!! so I will probably see it and if it sucks at least I'll get to see Thor

Ever since I saw Ang Lee's horrible take on "The Hulk" back in 2003, I don't pay to see a super hero movie.
Don't be scared. Come with me! It'll be fun. Promise!

Oh geez. I DID see that in the theater. I've sat through some disappointing movies, but it was the only one I've ever actually been angry that I paid for. It was horrid beyond description.

They should have propped the doors open and put some fans up to air out the stink when they played the thing.

After much careful consideration, 30 seconds at least which is the best attention span I can muster these days, I have made a decision about super hero movies. We must hope for the best but expect the worst. Hopefully the shot will fall somewhere in between.

I just excited about all the hot guys in it. Just kidding! (Well, not really.)
I do see your point though. It is very hyped. The trailer does look amazing, and you can't argue that. I'm just hoping that the movie isn't anything like Captain America, good lord.

When I first heard about The Avengers movie I had no intention of going to see it. I'm way more into the X-men comics/movies and although I had read comics based on The Avengers I had never really been that interested. Plus I had never seen the Captain America movie, Iron man or Thor so I thought I wouldn't understand The Avengers movie.
Butttt I have actually just got in from seeing The Avengers and it was great. You don't even need to watch the Captain America/Ironman/Thor films to know what is going on. I completeley knew who the characters were and what was happening, but I suppose that could have been because I read the comics
The only downside was having to queue up for a while because it was so busy. And then 3/4 of the way in the film the cinema screen went black for a while. You could hear everyone in the cinema moaning and a few weird people screaming
But other than that it was pretty awesome

Now I normally hate the idea of superhero movies (wasn't even all that buggered watching the reasonable Batman ones (The Tim Burton and Christopher Nolan ones)), but reading the reviews of Avengers (Assemble) and the fact it's helmed by Joss Whedon (who, when all's said and done did a fairly good job with Buffet(sic)), I actually mentioned to Mrs C the other day that I'd quite like to go and see it.
She shot me down in flames. I may catch it when it gets released for home viewing. Ah well, I can always rely on Mrs What's-suspension-of-disbelief-and-what-is-it-they're-doing-now?-How-is-that-supposed-to-happen?-What-did-he-say!?-Why-is-he-wearing-that-costume? Cade to keep me right.

Mrs. Cade and I would get along fine. We were watching a movie with some friends, the other night. After, my 15th comment about how that couldn't happen, the women said, "How 'bout we just enjoy the movie." I'm sure that was a nice way of saying "STFU".

The redoubtable Mrs C is very good with people Serenity. I say good with people, I mean people are scared of her... I couldn't in all good conscience wouldn't dare ask her to STFU...
