Alexander Davidson was Douglas's best friend and helped form Alexandria. Then he was kicked out but Douglas implied that he was pretty evil.

But I have never thought about Negan being Davidson. I kind of like it.

In my head I've been pronouncing Negan like "Knee-Gan" I wonder though if it pronounced like Megan.. only with an N. Haha.

As far as the Davidson theory, it's interesting, but why change your name so dramatically? I guess we saw that with Brian/PhilipBlake/The Governor... but I dunno for some reason I see Negan as being entirely new. Maybe Davidson is with his group though?

Did you come across any more etymology for Negan? I'm a dork, I headed that way too, looking for historical characters, etc., but turned up nothing.

Essentially, it's Latinate root is 'Nego', meaning to refuse or deny. That's ominous.

There's no way Negan is Davidson. If he was, then he and the Saviors would have taken revenge against Douglas and what he knows to be a very defenseless, Alexandria, a long time ago (he doesn't know about Rick and crew and he would still be under he impression that Douglas is alive).

So no, not the same person.
