I think I relate to comic Rick more than TV Rick, so I'll probably be pleased to see him drift a little in that direction personally.

I don't see this as being spoiler tag worthy so I'll just come out and say it: depending on what Rick does on screen, (as obviously what happens in the comics won't necessarily translate over to TV exactly the same) affects how many fans he loses, and yes, if the comics are any indication, and if the show follows them similarly in any sense, he will lose some. He'll have to do something really wild, however, to lose my respect. Yes he's made mistakes and done rash things, but so has everyone else in the group, and Rick does them with the best of intentions at heart and for what he feels is for the good of everyone as a whole. He's got the weight of the world on his shoulders trying to keep everyone alive (his wife and son most importantly, however), and with all that's going on around him lately, is starting to feel the pressure mount. Of course he's going to get a bit edgy... more so now than ever considering he's starting to realize what morals he once had "died beside the fire."

In my estimation though, Rick's progression towards a darker, grittier side will only intensify and personify not only his character, but the show that should basically be called The Walking Rick.

As far as Glenn goes, heck yeah, I'd love to see Glenn step up and challenge Rick at one point -- put him in his place even. Now that his and Maggie's relationship will only deepen, I can [unfortunately] start to see him mature and really "grow some juevos." Sadly though, we'll never see season 1 Glenn again and that's the Glenn I really like. But alas changes have to happen and who knows, it may be for the best.

I haven't read a comic book since the big bang (btw, my ears are still ringing) so how much are TWD comics?  Are they available online or just hard copy?

There are both.  They have a physical compendium that covers most of the early stuff and is the most economical way to "catch up" I would say.  I haven't seen the compendium in an online format, but there are definitely volumes that cover about 6 issues each online.  Most of the e-publishers have them.

Yeah I miss the "old" Glenn too.  Calling Rick a dumbass for getting in the tank, and basically leading him around for awhile is a far cry from the Glenn of now.  I'm hoping they deepen his character now that Maggie is around.  Hey wonder if he'll shave his head on TV?

For the record, personally I agree with most of you that I will like Rick being grittier.  I am just anxious to see how they portray it for TV.  I am a huge fan of the flawed hero.  So far they've been sort of soft shoe-ing Rick's character.  Man why can't it be October already??? lol.  Will they make Rick 'MAN UP' more or was that Ricktatorship speech just a flash in the pan?

"The Walking Rick."  Okay that just made me chuckle.  :P

You know, I have heard more than one person involved with the show discuss it as "Rick's journey" and his de-volution into badassery certainly serves that, but honestly, I think the most honest moment of character development came in the last episode of season 2 when he FINALLY told everyone off.  I really think that the direction of the show will be to whittle everything down to (and eliminate threats to - and this does include Lori and the baby) the relationship between Rick and Carl.

i could see if the show lasts for longer then 7-9 seasons rick becoming evil and carl becoming how rick was and them just having a big good vs evil battle were rick dies and carl carries on his good name.

like rick just snaps or somthing but all the good he had gets carried on with carl and carl become the groups leader.

idk though lol anythings possible with time.
