It may seem like there's a lot of dislike for the show floating around here, but there's actually more love if you really look.

I agree. And sometimes, a complaint is merely showing a person's passion for the show.
It's all daft. Daft like buggery, innit?

I Love This Show. I have yet to watch a boring episode. This is my first successful attempt at watching a zombie oriented show/movie. Since I can sometimes still be zombie squeamish, I don't need to see a new zombie every 5 seconds. I stay nervous from the beginning that they might possibly show one at any moment; what if it's a really scary one? (sounds stupid coming from someone in their mid-30's, I know).

I love the character driven story as well. I find that I actually care what happens to them. Even the ones I don't really like. I don't want to see anyone die, even Lori.

I let myself get so wrapped up in the story, they are great stories, that I really don't notice the inconsistencies that everyone else does. I have no complaints. (Kill Daryl and I'll have a big complaint)

I love the comics as well. It does not bother me that there are a lot of differences. It will not bother me if Season 3 does not follow the Prison Arc closely. (Just don't kill Daryl)

I really enjoy the show and particuarly loved the first half of season 2. Sure, I don't love all of the characters and I have a few minor gripes, but overall TWD is one of my favourite shows on TV at the moment.

I think that people come here to discuss aspects of the show and it's characters shows how much they enjoy it. I watch a number of other TV shows that I don't bother to go online and talk about because I simply don't care enough about them to bother.

Besides, we have about eight months to fill in now between seasons. I'll talk about the colour of Rick's socks if it helps pass the time!

Whoever told you the comic books are "more killing slaughter deal" clearly has no comprehension of what the comics are about. Both the TV series and the comic books are stories of survival.

I enjoy them both equally and I'm not trying to make an argument for one over the other, but it just really bugs me when people truly believe and then go about telling people that "The Walking Dead" is just a hack-n-slce shoot-em-up zombie slaughter story. It is more sophisticated than that, if it wasn't then the comics would never have been given a shot by Frank Darabont to be a TV series on AMC.

I don't have anything to say that hasn't already been well said, but I'll add my own "I love the show."

In January, I started watching Season 1 on Netflix with my husband and fell in love. We recorded the first half of Season 2 in February right before the new shows started up.

I don't necessarily think the show is perfect, but I love it. There hasn't been a major plot element that I would change.

I don't even hate Lori. I think her character adds so much to the show. And I have been really impressed when I have seen interviews with Sarah Wayne Callies. I like her insight on the character.

Beware, I am emoticon-impaired.

I love The Walking Dead and stuff but come on, some episodes were written very poorly. There's no denying it. Maybe it was the fact that they lost some money cause of AMC or maybe it was just sloppy writing but I don't think that justifies some episodes being crappyish. I think I could have even wrote better episodes than some that aired LoL. By the way, I'm talking about some episodes from the first half of season 2

I am not trying to challenge or argue you, but in all sincerity what would you have changed? What did you feel didn't live up to the standards that you expect of "The Walking Dead", or simply just decent story-telling in general?

This is all about opinions. I personally was satisfied with what "The Walking Dead" has done so far.

From my point of view some episodes in the first half of season 2 were just kinda boring. Nothing interesting happened in them and I wasn't engaged at all. I understand that you can't have action and walkers all the time. You need time for character development. But when there was no action, there was also no character development to me. Most of us know character development has been a problem so when there is no action and it is dialouge most the time I would like to see the story moving on or some character development taking place. That would justify there being no walkers or action.

I can't really remember what the "Boring" episodes were like because it has been ages since I watched them but I remember one in particular that was not a good one. I think it was the one where Glenn and Maggie went to the pharmacy with the terrible cgi walker.

Maybe I'm expecting too much, but when I watch a TV show I expect that to be interested and engaged in whats happening. Don't get me wrong, most episodes have been good but a small few have been rather disappointing. Its like I would watch one and be like "Is that it?" when it ended

I still find it quite hysterical that there are people who don't like the show veering away frm the comic. Like they want a board for board, word for word transition from artwork to screen work. One of the most shocking moments for me personally, being a huge zombie/walking dead comic fan was the death of a certain male character who lived to issue 50+. Fans like myself will know who I mean without me trying a hide it in a spoiler box, as soon as this character was taken from us in the TV show - it became something unpredictable, something very twisted, such as Shane sacrificing another character that lived to see the gates of the prison. And with the introduction of the governor (who is apparently like the comic book governor), this show is going to get dark, nasty and very, very entertaining.
Personally, I love the fact they veer away from the comic story. It's a fresh world for Kirkman to destroy

I don't have many issues with the show at all but there are a couple.

Like others have said, when there's no tension or atmosphere of danger and no development of character, the sets, any metaphorical references or well written dialogue in general, it just feels that the show is sub-par at the moments.

When you bring in moments like the scene after the bar shooting in season 2, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I had no idea what would happen, the tension was crazy yet fantastic to watch. But when you have no tension/action or presence of threat and nothing but poorly written dialogue and development for a whole episode, the show really feels inferior to other shows like Breaking Bad.

In my opinion, each episode needs to have that presence of danger, it needs to keep you on edge, or at the least have scenes of safety and then scenes of danger like how a lot of S2 plays out.

As for goofs like the swamp walker super-strength or using a knife to bleed the hand then stab walkers with the same knife, nobody can give honest explanations and it shouldn't be taken as criticism. It's fiction, nobody knows how this world works, how the virus spreads, how strong walkers can be or what they can do.

All my friends said that once you read the comics you wont wanna watch the show anymore. Now ive read the comics and im glad to say ill be still around for season 3. I just love everything zombie! And I dont think the start of season 2 was boring. I mean when Rick went to get hershel, and then that guy fell off the roof and impailed his leg on a fence!? that was in the beginning of season 2 right? Someone bring me up to speed on what happened.

I think the show is great. I have read the comic too up to date and love it even more but show does make justice to it i think. There are ofcourse atleast one thing that didnt go like it was in comic because sensor. That was Rick killing Shane when it was actually
Spoiler
.

I also think that there is great character development even when people say there isnt. Rick is cold blooded survivalist already, that didnt happen at this point in comics. Andrea has grown too, so has Carl. Hershel has woken up from he's dream world and almost everyone else has picked the pace. Except Lori. :D

Show also goes little like comic in matter of "calm before storm" Like first half of season 2. People are getting relaxed and calm and then BANG! Half of the cast is dead. This same thing happens in comic few times. Remember that if every episode is splatter, then every episode is mediocre too. So the idea that "danger is not present" in every episode is actually a good thing. Ending would have been so much lamer if they had being doing that all the time. Also it belongs to the plot. I mean they are trying to find safe place. Safe place doesn't mean they need to massacre dozen walkers everyday basis. I dont mind to watch talking episodes since i like to watch how they develope characters in show. Ofcourse it's little more intresting when i have read the comic but i dont think it's neccessary.

The changes surrounding Shane's death had nothing to do with censorship, IMO, and everything to do with the story. It felt right to have Rick kill Shane in the TV series because S2 has really been about the evolution of Rick's character - how he is changing from the 'we don't kill the living' Rick from S1 into this 'this isn't a democracy anymore' Rick at the end of the S2 finale. I think any other resolution to the Rick/Shane arc would have felt wrong.
