Now sadly that season 2 of TWD os over what was your one stand out episode if you had to pick a favorite... I know its hard cause the show is great but which one would you pick...
After thinking and rewatching some episodes I'd have to pick episode 201 "What Lies Ahead"
The stop on te highway with all the cars and the dead in them was frightening enough but then...
The herd on the highway was tense, (I was holding my breath while they passed), first time the group encountered something like that.
Sophia running off and Rick chasing after, I thought that was a good "cliff hanger" for lack of better words for a st episode.
Andrea attacking the walker with thescrewdriver and her verbale tirade at Dale, I thought that sceen worked really well.
Daryl saving T-Dog using the walker he killled
Daryl and Rick ripping open a Walker, looking for "food" remains, gruesome but I liked watching
All in all a great season opener and if I have to choose 1, thatd be it.
(the fan girl in me was leaning towards Chupacabra, but that's only cause Daryl was featured so much) lol

I am inclined to say Beside the Dying Fire for pure badassness but to me the best episode was Judge, Jury, Executioner because of the passing of a beloved character and a shift of feeling in the whole group, etc.
Merle. Dixon. DOIN THE DAMN THING.

I actually really liked "Nebraska". The scenes in the bar were very well done and not too shabbily written. I kind of liked the mourning, gravedigging and burial scenes for some reason. Couldn't tell if Shane was genuinely feeling sorry for Carol or if he was being a manipulative bastard. Newly badass Andrea scored kill of that week and the next, and she and T-Dog got crap done. (And the arm scene was utterly hilarious.)
And, of course, Rick was a badass nailing those two Philly scumbags in the bar. That's the kind of Rick that I like to see. Closing off with "Clutch" by Regulator didn't hurt at all.
Of course, granted, we also got boring Beth, Maggie and Glenn scenes and Freakin' Lori crashing her car on a straight, empty road, but I'd say the things done right well outweighed the things done wrong.

"18 miles out"
besides the whole drama bs with the women on the farm, i think it was a pivitol point for both Rick AND Shane. We see our first glimpses of BA Rick and the first faults of our beloved shane.
The whole episode was an epitimy of the walking dead, the character conflict was good and it solidifed the fact that the walkers are not even the most problematic things in the world.... its the people still living.
The end was what did it for me, when rick hands shane the gun "Its time you came back now" and the look on shanes face.... you can see it that he is a lost man and now has nothing to lose. As they are driving off and they play that bone chilling song and Shane has that moment of connection with the lone walker.... obviously symbolyzing his isolation from the rest of the group. I think its one of the few moments the audiance can feel bad for shane and understand the way he is acting

Definitely Beside the Dying Fire. The whole episode was fast paced and kick ass. There was not one scene that I didn't thoroughly enjoy.
Honorable Mentions: Judge, Jury, Executioner ( I still cry when I see Dale dying) and Pretty Much Dead Already (Dale and Shane in the woods was awesome.. when Dale first pulled the gun on Shane, I thought he was gonna go all badass. And of course Barnageddon.)

It's all daft. Daft like buggery, innit?

My top 3:
Save the Last One
What Lies Ahead
Pretty Much Dead Already
Hmmmm. . . it seems I liked the first part of the season better than the second!

There are too many great episodes to choose from, and I can't narrow it down so i'll just say I have a 6 way tie
Pretty much dead Already, Better Angels, Beside the Dying Fire, Save the Last One, What Lies Ahead and Chupacabra were all awesome.

Definitely "What Lies Ahead". It was the first time I actually was freaked out by a television program in a LONG time. I put myself under one of those cars as the herd walked by and was struggling not to freak out. I mean I dunno how I'd handle it. I would keep imagining some part of me is sticking out for a zombie to see.
Runners up are Pretty Much Dead Already, & Besides The Dying Fire.
All other episodes had their moments which made for good viewing, just most IMO lacked the overall punch (yea even unto Dale's death) to make them stand out.
I cannot wait to see the 2nd season DVD set to come out! Must have, must have must have is my mantra.
Main reason is I can watch every episode with captions and actually completely understand everything that was said. Once that is done I might change my mind about best episode.
If on line viewing were captioned then I'd be loving it.

I put the captions on when I watch too. I want to know exactly every word that is said. Plus too many years of loud music = shitty hearing.

I think I'd have to go with the opener of S2.
When Rick annihilated those two d-bags at the bar, he metamorphed into a total badass, that I did not even know he had in him.
His progression culminated at the end of the Finale where he adopted the good attributes Shane had, but is also sticking to who is was before.

Secrets.
Lori admits she's pregnant.
Admits she um... "Shane and I..."
Oh, and Andrea sees how well Shane can shoot. Take that however you want.

I'm not discussing the Shane/Otis thing...I'd have done the same thing, and that's that. Also, death to Lori! And the sooner, the better...

Chupacabra. Besides having a whole lot of Daryl, it was my first. You don't forget that.
My mother-in-law told me it was a good show and I should watch it. No! Absolutely Not! It' s a zombie show I can not watch those, they scare the he>> out of me, worse than clowns and ventrilloquist(sp?) dummies. Almost feel like curling up in fetatl position at the thought.
Nothing on TV, force myself to try to watch it. Pretty hot guy on a horse looking for something...Pause, wait a few minutes, FF through (nothing happens; alright RW and watch. Please don't let a zombie get the horse. Finds a doll. Must be looking for a little girl. Same thing with pausing, FF and RW. Feeling to creepy so change the channel, turn it back. Man lying in creek with a zombie chewing on foot. Oh my god a zombie got the horse. Turn TV.
A while later I found out that both horse and rider were fine. I realized the show wasn't that scary and I only saw the one zombie. Nothing to fear right. I decided to watch the finale, and it only took me about 2 hrs and 45 min to finish it. To me it was amazing, although quite a few more zombies than I though my nerves could stand.
By that next weekend I had watched the first season many times over. Couldn't wait for season 2 to replay so that I could watch Chupacabra in full. After season 1, I was very intrigues as to why Daryl of all people would care enough to look for that little girl.
Chupacabra made me want to see more of the series, which is in the top two list of my favorites shows on television.

Asking what episode was my fav is like asking which spoonful of a Dairy Queen hot fudge sundae I liked best. I just can't say.

Pretty Much Dead Already- I'm not sentimental person when watching TV or Movies but that second Sophia came out the barn i had goosebumps, all i had in my mind was my kiddo who happens to be around that age, i felt so sad and watched that part probably 10-12 times one after the other and each time i saw it it just messed my mind,
honorific mention Nebraska - you don't like Nebraska? to bad because this is my town bam bam and just in case bam in the head(because we all infected ,for peeing on the floor you nasty pig and because you to fat to be zombie)
btw no offense to overweight people i'm pretty much like that actor whatever his name is

Season 1 is the gold standard of tv, to me. (Granted I don't watch much of anything else lately) But the only episodes I think had that feel of season 1 was episode 201, VERY much so, and also the two episodes where Shane and Otis go to the high school/fema site.
I give ep 201 an A+++. It was a like a perfect sequel to a perfect movie. The theme of a small but false glimmer of hope turning into disaster and then into complete havoc is what i loved about season one... Rick riding into Atlanta right into a horde (almost has to kill himself!), Rick bravely heading back into danger to save Merle but he's gone and Glen gets kidnapped, the group settling into the cdc but barely escape alive and now are more hopeless than ever... these were so well done and episode 201 faithfully followed that formula.
The episodes with Shane and Otis also had that feeling of "Can this get ANY worse??? Oh yes it CAN!!!" LOL... So I really liked those too. Perfect mix of drama, action and suspense, all at the right times.
And after a few episodes of not much going on, the episode where Rick takes out the two guys in the bar was a great shot in the arm. If budget cuts were the reason behind the slow, zombie-less episodes this was a perfect example of how to still create a tense, dangerous and desperate situation for the viewers, that got resolved with swift and decisive action.
