If I was a professional writer for TV , I would have the responsibility to inform my viewers  ... The first episode of season 2 Rick tries contacting Morgan ... In the Chuppacabbra episode , Merle appears ( in his brother's semi-conscious hallusination ) ... So good writing would be to make those caracters show up before the start of season 3 ...

Merle could well be with that other gang

Morgan can be held hostage in some way by that same gang

Im sure we will see both of them or at least one of the two in these remaining 2 last episodes ....

I don't think we will nor should see Morgan for quite some time; it just wouldn't make sense right now. Perhaps once they flee the farm they happen to stumble upon him on their way to the prison, but otherwise no.

a comic change with Duane still being alive and being with Morgan. That way, Carl has another kid around his age to interact with, plus, Duane could follow the same storyline Ben or Billy did when one went crazy and killed one or the other. Carl would then progress through his evolution to a darker side by killing Duane himself. Just a thought...

Merle, on the other hand, should be showing up any time now.

Merle and Morgan will definitely show up again eventually.  Good writing, as you put it, is an example of the very scenes you quoted - they were inserted specifically to keep the characters in the audience's memory. When they reappear (maybe in season 3) it won't be seen as a wtf moment, but as continuation of an already established plot.

I feel like we wont see Morgan until season 3, perhaps that's how it will start. Showing Morgan being trapped somewhere in the city after he tried looking for Rick.
I think Merle will most likely show up during the next 2 episodes just to throw a cliffhanger at us.

At the begging, when Rick met Morgan they had a bond that can't be broken. I have heard some theories that Morgan's kid (i forgot his name) opened the door for his zombie mother, and got both of them infected. I would like to think not. Plus, Rick told himself that he would tell Lori, if he ever finds her, about Morgan and his kid, but he never did! I am not really sure about Merle, i think that if he were to come back, Rick would be all over him, and keep him tied up in the barn forever, which would just create more tension with Daryl. I think the only reason they would bring him back, would be to get rid of one of the current charcters.(ex: Merle comes back, kills Andrea and gets himself killed) PLEASE I WANT YOUR THOUGHTS>

but never ever Merle. I like his character but it would just be too cheesy and cheap to see him back other than in Daryls mind IMHO

But Merle can stay dead. I don't think the writers would have written him in Daryl's vision if they wanted to keep him alive. Although I would be interested to see Daryl struggle with mental stability by having Merle chime in on current happenings at times.

Rick did tell Lori,  it was when he first got back to the camp from Atlanta when he said he was going back to get the bag of guns, he mentions he owes his life to a man named Morgan who took him in and he would be dead without him, the radio to comunicate with him is also in the bag. It was another big reason for him to go back into the city and retrieve the bag as Morgan said he would make his way to Atlanta once he'd tought Dwayne to shoot and he wasn't so rusty, they'd be walking right into that mess and rick wanted to warn him.
