I agree completely.
Yes, this thread had made it quite clear that a lot of the hatred of Carol comes from people who hate that Daryl has human feelings and failings and has formed a friendship with a woman of roughly his own age with whom he has something in common. Maybe Daryl has learned (as Shane did), that having someone and something for which to live makes it a lot easier to keep going. Daryl’s remark to Hershel on the night the farm was overrun about “Tonight is as good a night as any” indicated to me that Daryl is fatalistic and does not expect to survive indefinitely. Stoic and heroic as he is, Daryl knows that he is only human.
IMO, the whole point of the character of Daryl (and Shane to some degree), is that these big muscley gun-totin’ characters are human beings like everyone else, with feelings, weaknesses and emotional baggage. Only a sociopath or a completely one-dimensional character is completely badass. But TWD is supposed to be a drama attempting to depict human characters.
Besides which, I haven’t seen a romantic relationship yet. Maybe it will happen but it hasn’t yet.
So Rick and Daryl should wash their own clothes and scrub pots? Or not. But that way leads to health sapping lice and other vermin, fungi, bad food and outright disease.
IMO it is only a few fans who rant and rave about how useless Carol is. On air, the only one who has ever indicated that she was a burden was Carol herself. The group regards itself as a group, a kind of family and every member is valued. I bet that Hershel’s family would not be the only ones mourning Jimmy and Patricia.
The plan to defend the farm was never going to work, because this was not just herd of walkers but a multitude, which the survivors had never experienced. That plan, such as it was, more-or-less fell to pieces almost immediately. Lori delayed as long trying to move Hershel as she did looking for Carl once the walkers had arrived. By the time the women fled, the walkers were all around and the women scattered. IMO opinion, the editing of the scene indicates that Carol screamed a warning as soon as she saw the walker behind Andrea.
BWR, you are joking, right? Because the only things with which I’ve ever seen you savage anybody is your reasoning and wit.
