Unless he could get something from you he wouldn't care to keep you alive. The only people he showed any interest in protecting are Lori (for the loving) and Carl (because he's Lori's son). If you are not either of those two people you are expendable.

I don't recall Shane ever killing somebody just for the sake of killing them. He had a completely legit reason to kill Otis. He only began to lose it after Rick showed up, take Rick out of the equation and we have a great leader! I feel like a lot of people look at Shane like a monster because he was made out to be an antagonist. Sure, he was hot headed. But, if you were in his group... he kept you alive. Excluding his problems with Rick, Shane didn't wish harm on his group.

Randall... Come on. He was some random guy, on a rooftop trying to kill you. So, instead of taking out a VERY major threat... we'll save him and bring him back where we sleep. No Rick Grimes. You've gotta step out of cop mode, and enter zombie mode.

Shane would have been the groups leader and a good one at that. The only reason he turned into a guy who kills others to survive (Otis) was because of his hatred of Rick and need to win Lori back. If he had Lori then he would probably have been more level-headed. I mean he was smart enough to keep Merle and Daryl seperated on the supplies run when he knew T-Dog, Glenn, Morales and Jacqui were going. He also isn't one to play by the rules in a world without rules when it comes to people who threaten the safety of his group i.e Randall.

darryl theres more to surviving than just yelling at each other and grabbing for power. I think he'd teach people how to hunt, set traps, and be stealthy but when it came to actually deciding where are we gonna camp? itd be more of a group decision
you only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough
