the recon tanto is one of cold steels best selling knives, along with the srk. I guess there a reason for that!

There definently is, and I got mine brand new for half price.

Some usefull primitive knives I made.

Top one is I made from a broken Legitimus Collins machete No.128 - Was $5 at a gun show.
Middle is one I made from a old wrench - 3/16th thick beater for chiseling/splitting/prying.
Bottom one is a heavyweight throwing/GP knife - made it from a broken chipping hammer bit.

Ordered some kydex to make sheaths.

Dude those are the kind of primitive skills that would be essential in a ZACK!! I am pretty good at making primitive bows and arrows and I've been studying medicinal and edible wild plants. We're the kind of people prepared for the worst!

Agreed, got one beside my bed with my tomahawk right now.  The only problem I might have is enclosed spaces. Hallways, etc.  For those areas, and of course the ever popular thrust through a chain link fence, might I recommend something from Cold Steel's Tanto line.  That chisel point is just the thing for punching skulls.

By the way, where does U.K. law stand on pointy things?

UK law states pointy things are naughty but we have to prepare for Z day they must understand I am ready...

If it comes down to zombie killers I would have to say a WW1 trench knife. They weren't so much knives as the were hardened steel spikes made for punching through steel helmets with a blad and a pommel guard, I would say that's perfect.
