Wouldn't decapitation leave a biting soccer ball on the ground?  If the question is what would you use to kill the undead, I would go with carrying a few ice picks.  Or even scratch alls or ground down screwdrivers.  They are cheap, plentiful, don't make noise.  The pointed edge, applied with force would do a good job scrambling the brains.  A nice 8" screwdriver.  Or a cold chisel with the hand grip on it, so your hand doesn't dlip down the shank.

Ice pick is a great idea.

Ka-Bar is an excellent choice but in terms of portability, utility, and cost, I must say I enjoy keeping several inexpensive, nylon-wrapped carbon steel knives around.  You can find them at most outdoor outfitters and they often come with a Swedish firesteel-style starter.  Makes a great backup knife and is not too expensive, so they can also be lent or given to other survivors in need of a knife and the ability to start a fire.

I think I'd rather have some sort of skull crusher over a knife.

I really love the titanium spring-folding knife I've been using for the last few years.  It's extremely sharp and easy to open and fold with one hand.  I've been using it to cut through rope and stuff without it ever dulling.  I use it for everything, eating, cutting, cleaning my nails lol.. it always comes in handy and never rusts or dulls because it's ti.  I would not leave it at home when going camping.

Throwing knives could be very handy too, for a little more distance, and possibility of retrieval.

Gerber Mark II

http://www.gerber-to...ii-22-01874.htm

I have a Gurka Kukri, but I feel it would be more effective on the living. I have a K-bar as well, but I'd prefer a narrow double edged blade. The Mark II is meant for only one thing. Skeeeet, yer dead.

Well that is not bad.  The disadvantage is no point.  I would say if it was available some kind of double edged short sword.  It has to be heavy enough to cut through the spine but not so heavy that you can't swing it fast enough.  Lets face it most of our sword skills are a bit "rusty" shall we say.  The nice sharp point would do good when they are down but not out.

Daryl uses a Busses team Gemini. They're available from Busse right now. I have a steelheart and that sucker could penetrate zombie skulls all day long. Your not breaking a Busse.

Yes, for a large chopping knife it is suppose to be the best; however for
Ka-Bar KB1248 - Cutlass Machete, Leather & Cordura Sheath

$40 online 1085 carbon steel blade
You can buy 7 of these of the price of Busses team Gemini
A diamond blade sharpener and some steel wool and your in business.
Basically either blade will last a life time if you take care of them. the more expensive blade is just more resistant to chipping, but you can still dent it. i dented my cutlass once (i was chopping a tree down and I accidentally hit a rock) and it was pretty easy to fix. Granted its not really made for cutting down trees but It worked really good on a small palm tree.

I agree and also own many knives that don't cost a weeks pay! Lol There are alot of great knives out there between $50 and $100 bucks that are exceptional quality. In this day and age we probably have more quality bladeware than any generation has ever had.

PS:  I have a smaller fixed blade by Gerber that's made from S30V less than $100, and  my tactical folder is a Benchmade constructed out of 154cm $140. All are excellent quality. Long story short shop around and do your research and you can get a good deal on a quality blade.
PPS:I would not go with any stainless less than 440C.

I've got a cold steel recon tanto, it's made for one purpose, and that is basically and blatantly, to kill people/things. It also make a great hunting knife, survival knife, throwing knife. It's pretty all purpose, and it stays sharp, unless your like me and chop down 2 trees with it (yes two actual trees), and it'll still go right through someone even after that. I do need to sharpen it though.

the recon tanto is one of cold steels best selling knives, along with the srk. I guess there a reason for that!
