Andrea and Shane were comrades, he complained  her about Rick, and hlped her to learn defensive skills. They had a bond without being in love.Carol and Daryl have a bond, they both lost an abusive prison in their lives, they bonded about over Sopha, and they both are bright but not well educated. You can have a bond without romantic love.  I really don't see Daryl and Carol bonding with someone else. Rick  and Daryl might be warriors together, but Rick is too busy with his own issues right now to do much els

...which is pretty much what they have now, right?

Again, no one is saying that they don't have some kind of bond. We're saying the bond is toxic and boring, and that sweet fancy Moses, there needs to never, ever, ever, never be any sort of even remotely romantic tinge to their relationship.

Tell us how you really feel!
And while I respect your opinion I must admit that I am just as hopeful that they ultimately have a more than remotely romantic tinge to their relationship. But, I think that all the romance (with every couple) should be subtle and far in the background. The group fights to survive every minute of every day, they don't have time to hold hands and make plans.

LOL, hey, I'm just voicing my opinion, same as you. ;-)

As has been said, we really could go back and forth about this all day long. We will just have to agree to disagree, I suppose (although I am with you that any romance should definitely be subtle and in the background).

BTW, can I just say that, the thing I like about this board is that we can all have a debate about this topic without, I think, it getting insane and carried away (*coughcoughTumblrcoughcough*)?

Everybody can't be a hero. For every soldier at the front there's twenty more in the rear doing support work. It's nice to have hot chow and a shower when you come back from a long hump.

I'll give you a quote from Napoleon. Remember him, French guy, knew a few things about command and motivating people. Anyway Napoleon said "They also serve who only stand and wait."

Someone should share that with Andrea who feels the cooking and cleaning to be inferior work. I think both Lori and Carol as mothers know their roles and limits, and knowing your role is different than knowing your place. I think in the back of both their minds is "who is going to take care of my kid if something happens to me."

Which makes me wonder if that is part of what Daryl finds attractive about Carol. Carol obviously loved her daughter. Everyone saw how she ached for her. A mother's or parent's love may be foreign to him and he cares for Carol for being a better parent than he has known.

As for Daryl searching for Sophia, he may have identified with Sophia's abuse and wanted to save her though no one saved him.

(BTW, Tyreese is spelled with three E's, two before the S and one after.)

Very perceptive post.  I think it has been established that Daryl 'went missing' for a while when he was young, and that nobody came looking for him.  Your comment about him caring for Carol for being a better parent than he has known clicked with me.... It makes a lot of sense.

And it also makes the thought of a 'romantic' relationship between Carol and Daryl even more icky.... <grin>

I think theyve both bonded with each other but not in a romantic way. theyre both outcasts and he was determind to find Sophia when everyone else was standing about arguing about it . He also didnt rest much and went out himself to search for her and he was the one who found her doll so he made the most progress in the search
