I watched Bait last night. Not a bad shark movie from Australia. had some good gory moments, too. I have a rather strong fondness for shark movies - and creature movies in general. It was better then Shark Night and not as good as Deep Blue Sea and of course it doesnt hold a candle to JAWS as far as shark movies go, but I doubt any shark movie ever could.

I read all the time and yes. Steve Altens books. I have red Meg and The trench many years ago. I have not read the rest of the series but since you have reminded me, now I want to. =)

I have seen all the JAWS films a hundred zillion times over but of course JAWS is the best and I love the book, even if it did cause stupid idiots to hurt innocent sharks. *shakes head* People are so mind numbingly dumb sometimes.

Such a funny movie..."These kids just keep killing themselves!"
The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed...

I've been wondering is Tucker & Dale vs. Evil was worth watching. Might have to check it out now.

Not even a question sir.   It's a must.   Might even make it a prerequisite for admittance to the super dupper secret club

ive been gone for a while and a lot has happened.  im glad this thread is still open :) .  so i will try and post as much as possible.  in the meantime ill make up for lost time..

1)  Total Recall - i read the reviews and they were pretty negative.  that took me away from watching it in the theatres.  here in costa rica there is a huge market for burned DVDs.  i dont agree with the whole stealing copyrights, but i get movies like 6 months late here so i have to contribute.  the good thing is that quality is HD and each movie is about 2 bucks.

I bought Total Recall and I thought it was a great movie.  I thoroughly enjoyed myself throughout its entirety.  colin farrel isnt my favorite actor, but he does this role just right.  a couple of twists and turns and couple of moments where your not sure whats going to happen next and the action sequences are some of the best ive seen.  some parts reminded me of irobot and minority report.  very good overall, i would recommend.

2)  ted - thought it could have been funnier.  i found it dull at times.  if youre bored check it out, i dont think ur missing much if you never get to watch it.

3)  bourne legacy - im a huge fan of the bourne series, like huge.  this is probably my favorite movie series of all time and putting my admiration aside i have to say this supposedly heart pounding and fist throwing moving only gave me a soft bitch slap.  the action just wasnt there.  they try to tie in a lot of material from the other movies and i guess our character gets a little lost in the process.  not that many fight scenes which is probably why i love the series to begin with.  those tight shots of bourne beating the shit out of people.  there is only one really good fight scene, all the other ones i felt were half assed.  i was disappointed in the end, but since im a fan i will say if you have watched the rest you should definitely get through this one.  if you havent seen the other bourne movies, watch those and then watch this one.  i dont want you to be turned away from bourne because of one bad chapter.

4)  007 skyfall -  i wish my bourne movie woudlve been this good.  i think i usually watch the 007 movies like everyone else.  i just happen to catch it or there is nothing better to do.  i went to imax for this one because the girlfriend really wanted to see it.  thats why i love her for her little surprises.  this movie was fuckin awesome.  the fight scenes are bourne-like, good chases, good hand to hand, nice standoffs.  the 007 series definitely stepped it up.  our villain is quite remarkable as well.  not a nolan joker, but i would say he's in my top 5 best villains ever.  very good acting and the writing for him was excellent.  youll love his introduction, great cinematography, great scripting, and great acting.  the movie has a dark, solemn feel to it and it plays well throughout the movie.  i give it 2 thumbs way up and strongly urge to check it out if you enjoy action movies.

for now those are all the ones that are relevant and "blockbusterish".  hope this helps and hope you guys spend your money well and enjoy yourselves.

The finale Twilight movie (Breaking Dawn 2). *sigh*

I took my niece over the weekend as I had promised. It was actually the best of the lot - but that isnt saying very much.

yeah i watched the first 2 and didnt waste my time after.  apparently my friends went to see it opening night.  now these are 2 grown men, their excuse was that there were a lot of hot girls on opening night.  i personally challenged their manhood.  they did however say it was quite good.  though the sources are close im still not motivated a bit to ever see this.

Looper - thought it was awesome, doesn't try to be too big or anything or to convoluted with time travel theory.  It was good syfy in that it left me with several ideas or conculsions to draw from it.  Recommended.

Beasts of the Southern Wild - Was really good. Not the kind of movie many would probably appreciate and I don't think I enjoyed it (in a sense that I didn't enjoy Schindler's List yet thought it was excellent if you know what I mean), but it's not really for enjoying for me I decided. Some big things happening in that movie though.  I was impressed.

Beasts of the Southern Wild was amazing, but definitely not an upper.

Lincoln has Oscar written all over it.

As does Anna Karenina.

I really want to see Silver Linings Playbook (as I could watch Bradley Cooper read a shopping list for 2 hours and be perfectly happy), but it hasn't come here yet.

My favorite of the fall is still Argo, which was just incredible from beginning to end.

Last week at work I watched "The Artist" and "Sexy Beast", no sound on, just the subtitles.  I also watched "The flowers of war" with Christian Bale (watched with sound).  All 3 were superb movies.

I'll back Leon's opinion on all three. They are all good.  I liked Loopers too, really good science fiction without being a space opera.
Don't be scared. Come with me!  It'll be fun.  Promise!
