Ironic that after the first fuck it shows Rick looking up at him like "I haven't heard that word since the apocalypse started".

I agree it does feel weird, but again, probably because it doesn't exist anywhere else in the show, which in itself is weird. Hmmm. Weird.

Is it just out of sync, or did JDM just
go back and redub over his own voice?
Lips and dialog arent matchin up.

Regardless, maybe its just me, but Im
feeling that the swearing somehow.....
declasses his performance. I think
I like it better as broadcast. Hmm,
which kinda surprises me a little.

There's definitely some differences in the scene. The inflections in his voice when he says "I'm not growing a garden" is much different. That line actually comes off better in the remake IMO. There are some other general differences. I noticed at times in the original where are focused on Negan, but in the remake it's showing one of our group or a more broad shot of the entire scene.

"I'm going to beat the wholly hell out of one of you" certainly tops "fuck fuckety fucking fuck" or whatever he said.

I liked it better the original as well. Given what we have seen for 6 years it just feels so out of place on the show.

I felt the cussing made the scene more intense.

I will never understand why they can show dead corpses all the time, but they cannot say the F word... it's ridiculous.

Thank you for posting!

They CAN say the f-word. AMC isn't bound to FCC regulations like NBC and ABC are. They CHOOSE not to say the f-word. Why? Who knows. Merle said the n-word, why can't he say the f-word?

It's because they are afraid of advertisers pulling their commercials.  It's all about the almighty dollar. They aren't the only basic cable channel with this policy. The majority follow the same procedure.

Although, I've noticed that some channels seem to be lightening up lately.

Breaking Bad and Saul have had bleeped f-words as did Mad Men. TWD doesn't even have that. I wonder if a specific TWD sponsor is strongly suggesting to AMC to not even do bleeps.

Thanks for posting, although to be honest I felt all the F’ing was too forced. Perhaps it was because it was so out of the normal (not in my house, thanks kids for pointing that out to me) in TWD world (TV). I do love JDM though, and think he was cast perfectly

Just speculating of course. There has to be SOME reason other AMC shows at least have bleeped f-words, but TWD has nothing.

All that said, I prefer nothing over bleeps. Whenever I hear a cuss word bleeped on TV I wanna roll my eyes. As unrealistic as it may be for Merle to never say the f-word, I'd rather he didn't than have to listen to bleeps.

One of the bigger reasons I couldnt continue watching
Hells Kitchen, Kombat. (tho there were many)
I found myself yelling at the screen,
"DAMMIT, I DONT SPEAK BLEEP!!"

And I was admittedly thankful AMC didnt just shoot
the cussing version and bleep the bleepin bleep
out of us when it aired. Although I'd wager good
dough that they at least thought about it.

And although in my household, the F word remains a
rather common.....means of self expression lol I
firmly feel his performance was far more menacing
without it. IMO this is a fundamentally different
Negan than in the comics--more eloquent, more
educated, much more controlled, and all around
classier (certainly more than Rick), which makes
him that much more effective....and dangerous.
