This was a good filler issue, I think there will be some intensity building up to Issue 150.
I have to admit they are really building up to something here and think we will have some major deaths pretty soon.
Pretty good issue for a filler one. Lots of dialogue and development between Rick & Michonne which was nice. Also good to hear Rick talking about the loss of Lori & Judith and how he dealt with it and how he's closer to Andrea than anyone else. Queue Lydia pulling a gun on Andrea as she's trying to take her to safety at Hilltop. Sure it's out of fear, but I hope she doesn't kill Andrea. That'd be a cheap way to go, and based on the way Rick was talking about Andrea to Michonne makes me think some bad shit could happen, hoping it's just a troll. I'm sure if anything did happen to Andrea, Carl would probably just put a bullet in Lydia's head... or maybe not... who knows. I'm guessing in the next few issues, especially with the cover of 150, Rick is going to be betrayed, probably by the Euge, and he's going to have to kill him. Or maybe the communities just rebel against Rick's leadership altogether causing him and anyone loyal to him to be kicked out, which will subsequently get the communities destroyed by Alpha and the Whisperers.

I am with you and think the community's are going to betray Rick start a war and destroy everything they have worked to achieve.
"Yeah, let's fuck this dog."
I'm most not certainly trusting anyone at this point. I was very much thinking that Andrea could be setting up Lydia with the full intention of leading her to her death (being ironic with how Rick just confessed to Michonne how happy he is with, and how much he trusts, Andrea).
I'm also absolutely certain that Michonne came into Rick's house to kill Lydia herself, and I'm kind of disappointed that Rick's conversation with her didn't end up him questioning her intentions more sternly. She was about to pull her katana out when Rick caught her -- that's not something you do when you're just escorting someone.
I loved Rick's heart-to-heart with Michonne, though. It was great to hear his long-term perception of how Lori and Shane's affair came to be, how he continued to be with Lori afterwards, and how he coped with the losses of Lori and Judith. It was like learning something about a close friend after all this time.
I'm wondering if Michonne may begin to immediately pursue someone?
Nice call-back to Rick lashing out at Benjamin some issues back.
Alternatively, you could also just call me Soiled_Panties, on account of how pissy I can be.
Anyone but me catch this panel ?
We have seen deaths foreshadowed like this before(blacked out faces) in the comic just saying...............
Rick also keeps talking about how much happier he is now a sure sign of death.
Oh, man. You're way more observant than I am. Who else was blacked out before their death?
Somewhat of an illogical, foreshadowing issue.
With both Rick and Andrea it seems like one will be a goner sooner rather than later. Carl is realizing 'these great people' in his community aren't so great after all. I wouldn't be suprised if something happens to Rick while Carl is away and it drives Carl against his own people.
So the people of Alexandria want Lydia dead and that likely puts Carl in danger. The solution? Send them both to Hilltop where the angry redneck family already wanted to kill Carl as it is for beating their sons asses with a shovel. I get that Rick doesn't know, but the reader does and I don't see how that turns out well for anyone.
Eugene is pissed, which is a bad thing considering he is the most intelligent person they have. His entire plan revolves around using Lydia as bait. I'd expect that from the town morons but not from Eugene. The motherfucker knows how to make ammunition, herd a huge pack of zombies, and fix cb radios...and his best solution for the Whisperers is use Lydia as bait? Michonne wasn't kidding when she said tomorrow is going to be nasty.
Two issues from now Rick will be talking with Negan again, and it's looking like the conversation will be Negan telling Rick exactly how to re-assert his dominance as a leader. It's looking more and more like Rick's own people are going to do their own thing and attack the Whsperers anyway.
Overall, a rather tame issue that is necessary to set the stage for the retaliatory response...but these people are clearly not the same people that overcame Negan and his Saviors. Rick's people have become soft and stupid.
XBOX One Gamertag: ROFbaggingU. Blackops 3 Zombies mode: easter egg hunter.
I highly doubt Andrea would go against Rick in any manner.
The Euge has his head in the right place, but he really doesn't understand the situation with Alpha. He doesn't fully understand the Whisperers and how they operate - their animal mentality, the rape, all that weird shit is how they live. They embrace that lifestyle. I still don't fully trust Lydia - but I think that she is the key on how to fight the Whisperers - after all who knows Alpha the best? Right now, they still lack crucial information on the Whisperers.
It was a great scene between Rick and Michonne... I do question whether Michonne was there to "protect" Lydia or had some other agenda.
The blackout on Rick's face was odd - way more noticeable then Glenn... but maybe they are just doing that to fuck with us. Speaking of troll covers as we so love them - I did notice that this cover was pretty accurate. Definitely feels like the calm before the storm
Just came to discuss Rick's blacked-out face. It made no sense at all darken his face that way for that panel, considering the conversation they were having. It was abrupt, and maybe it was meant to, I dunno, symbolize his silence to Eugene, but...for what? Most times, a stern, 'I'm dead serious right now' Rick-face would have been used, and the speech bubble with the dots (I know it has a name - can't recall it right now) shouldn't have been there at all.
SO...wuzza blackened face for? Surely nothing as mundane as "the inker (do they still use those?) fucked the whole thing up, and decided to just wing it - check it out, though, he left his ear visible!" Perhaps it's a none-too-subtle foreshadowing technique, as has been suggested already? That...is cheap as hell. Lazy, even.
Re-read it yourself, see if what I'm saying makes sense. Remember, comics that are fairly well-crafted (as TWD has been a time or two) don't do anything by accident. In what way (from a "reading comics as its own unique art-form" sense) did Rick's face being blackened FOR THAT PANEL add to the story? If it ends up foreshadowing his upcoming demise, that's seriously weak as shit. At any rate, they could have used a different panel, where the effect wouldn't have seemed so abrupt and out-of-place.
Here's a GIF, for no reason at all:
Here's a panel from Issue #147 featuring Andrea! Sorry if the colors are shitty. I'm starting to use GIMP a lot more now and I hope this doesn't make y'all cringe! I snipped the panel from Splash Page Art to color this. I think I used threshold (Which can darken the B&W image) a little TOO much. I really do hope all of you like it! I'm like, what, 13? Almost 14 though!

Here is a variant version I made by actually using the panel from the ISSUE, and not just the ORIGINAL ARTWORK.

Rick is not going to die anytime soon. How many times do I need to tell you people. LOL
Rick is the walking dead and what makes Kirkman all his money. He would be a fool to kill Rick now.
He still has Rick on the TV show and that Rick is the real money maker.
Also i still cannot get over the fact ANY time people start to talk about how happy they are they DIE in this book.
all that "I am more happy now" talk from Rick sure has me worried he is going to go and I do think it would be a great time for Rick to go.

he has plenty of money now must be made for life.
I wonder if the comics are going to end sooner rather than later
I mean after this Whisper war what next without repeating itself?
Also I IMAGINE that there is BIG pressure from TPTB to wrap up source material so they can plot an end and an arc to Tv show
within a reasonable time frame 9-10 seasons TV shows got to end
I know there a talk about the comics going to 300 but thats nuts.
I predict comics will end by 175,
