Carl was 8 at the start. That's what Rick tells Morgan (possible Carl was 7 during the very opening with the police shootout?)
Carl can be 8 and 13 now with Rick being 29 and 33 now if Rick has JUST turned 29 and Carl was shy of being nine years old
Imagine a group of a hundred motorcycles driving down a freeway. Eventually, they hit a junction. One road goes northwest and the other goes northeast. So one guy, we'll call him S, says, "Let's go northwest!" A mile past the intersection, a semi careens into the group and kills ninety of them. Ten are wounded, but they survive and keep going. Eventually, they hit 10,000 miles. S suddenly has his consciousness thrown into his past body right before the junction. Now, he says, "Let's go northeast!" All 100 bikers survive. Happily ever after, right? But what about the ten, no nine, who went northwest and survived? What happens to the reality they were living? Does it just disappear now that S has changed the past? It's not like only bad things happened on that 10,000 mile journey. Maybe one of them fell in love with a gas station attendant and got her pregnant or maybe one adopted a homeless kid that joined the adventure. That 10,000 mile journey would be full of stories. Romances, farewells, friendships...the loss of those ninety lives is horrible and unfortunate, but what would rewriting their history mean? The nine who survived lived full lives and did the best they could with the hand they were dealt. How could it be right to just erase all that? Isn't that worth something? Is there a point to a world where everything is happy? Are people who struggle for a better life just idiots? Being human is about fighting even when it seems hopeless and finding happiness in a world that hates it. Are you saying that's worthless?
Gregory is really one dumb shit. Even if Jesus hadn't seen him, what would Gregory do? Tell everyone that Maggie had a heart attack? Would ANYONE buy that?
I thought it was possible Gregory would break Lydia out and then kill Maggie, framing Lydia for it. I really don't know what he was trying to accomplish. He's definitely dead as shit now
I also don't think Maggie is dead. Idk. I feel like if she did die, Kirkman would let her get a few scratches in on Gregory or maim him or put up a better fight before she went. It's a little too clean
i seem to remember somewhere kirkman stating that he feels realistic deaths are more fun, and i would not put it past him at all to let maggie go out with a whimper like that, though i do agree that jesus in that frame more than likely will be her saving grace, or at the very least give her a few days with a death sentence. the 140 cover is either a troll or her still dying.
I was under the assumption that Jesus still lived at the hilltop with his gay lover.....
first thing, they broke up last i checked, and even so, the beginning of the post jump arcs seemed to have jesus checking in at asz and only going to the hilltop when or shortly after rick did. maybe he's got a jack of all trades things going on and like michonne is the only person 100% safe out in the open.
or the first scene of next issue is someone walking in on them....
it's going to be sophia, after carl's promises to her and hug with her, there's no way it's anyone else.
I'm still torn between Lydia actually being into Carl and it being a ruse...if anything, he'll walk away from this short one V-Card and possibly plus one fetish.
I also wonder if this is going to turn into some post apocalyptic Romeo and Juliet type situation.
that would be really cool to see, we really don't see enough classic literature homages for such a well written long term story
I'll go 8/10...
First and foremost, I hope Jesus disembowels that fat fuck Gregory.
Second, maybe Lydia is honey potting Carl? I was like 75% against that idea last issue but now? Whatever the case, good for Carl. Negan will be so very proud.
Third, thought the eye socket licking scene was disturbing but not gross. It and everything that followed really took Lydia to whole new level of creepiness. I also thought Carl's reactions to the whole situation were great. I could really feel his awkwardness and unease.
Fourth...I think it's safe to say that Carl has taken over for his father as the primary protagonist of the story. Rick's basically been a nonentity since the end of AOW.
Also, the Carson's are brothers! Fantastic!
P.S., I don't think Maggie bites it from the poison. Or at least I hope. I also kind of like the idea of there being some sort of trial involving Gregory, with Rick presiding as judge. It would be something we haven't seen before...
i'm intrigued by the idea of witnessing a trial.. i'd love to see how the few people incarcerated who weren't negan came to be so
Kirkman, I know that the whole time skip advanced the characters' ages a bit, but I think you forgot that Carl is still 12 FRICKING YEARS OLD WTF MAN WTF!!!!!!!!!
Lydia, you ARE NOT 12. I know she is young but you can see in comparison to Sophia, that is is borderline raping a 12 year old year old!!!! Kirkman there has to be a line, right??!?!?!?!
not post-apocolypse [source: that panel where the marauder is removing [maybe] 9 year old carl's underwear.]

it was stated on-panel that carl's birthday was in april [making him an aries, a natural leader, the coolest foreshadowing in the book if you ask me], and with the za hitting during the summer, i'd say he JUST turned 8. where rick's birthday has never been specified, i can't relate his age to carl's and actually can't recall his age ever being stated. i count years in the book by winters, and after the first one near atlanta and the second one well after they reached asz, i assumed carl was 10 around the time of aow, 2 year time jump [as originally stated but later denied] would make him 12, where a 4 year time jump [more likely if only just to cover asses] seems way more likely to me and would make him 13 at the youngest, 14 bout to turn 15 at the oldest.
For clarification purposes: Carl is 13, Lydia is 16
But... but... he was 7 at the beginning and then this is 4 years later...
7 + 4 = 13?
Fuck...
This is like 9 + 10 all over again...

Okay, so...
Carl was 7 during the first 5 TPBs, because those went around September/October to April (Carl's 8th birthday) and then from TPBs 6-18, it's April (Rick, Glenn and Michonne are still at Woodbury) to April again, so Carl's 9 and since it went TWO YEARS later, he's 11 and won't be for a possible 6 months or so (Winter hasn't started yet).
This make sense?

Lydia is probably only 14 or 15. Carl is a mature 12 or 13. It's not a huge age difference. We also won't know for sure just how far they went til next issue. Sure it's implied that they had sex but Kirkman loves to troll us so it doesn't necessarily have to go that way.
Yet Carl is still 12 years old, even without a gap. 12! And I saw Lydia as like 16. She's just so ridiculusly weird and catatonic acting that she seems younger.
I mean,a pparently she knows how it's done, so she's been around a bit!
Regarding Carl's age, I think Kirkman once said in a Letter Hacks that he intended not to explicitly say how much time had passed during the time skip and to leave it ambiguous, but Sean muddied the water by saying it was two years.
I'll just accept he's 13, like I've accepted that Spider-Man has been 17-19 for the last 53 years.
Carl's age is kind mysterious. Maybe it's from growing up in the apocalypse. You can't stay a kid for long anymore.

Im just glad to see a sex scene that caters to my fetish for licking empty eye sockets, cant tell you how specialist that is to find!
Carls so going to end up with an STD on his first go poor guy, I can also imagine a scene where Carl goes running in too see Negan and tell him he lost his virginity.
Negan: 'No motherfucking way that's great, your a fucking man now Carl, go forth and fuck every fucking pussy you fucking see, the world of pussy is your cock sucking oyster!'

That's because Spider-Man doesn't go in really time.
