Thoughts, y'all?  I was right about Maggie realizing that Marco's "THE DEAD ARE TALKING" phooey in Issue #130 was gonna happen.  Yup.

This issue dealt with a lot of what we knew it was going to deal with, ie : Carl and Sophia's stories matching up, and all the stuff with Gregory etc... But to be honest this was a pretty big disappointment for me... The amount of Fill in this Filler Filled me with... Fill?

 

The ending was pretty lame as well... The only thing that intrigued me was the part about Lydia being strong, she'll last... Gives me a sense of unease about her...

I agree with you on the issue's events as most of us would've HAD to see it coming, and the ending seemed OK to me.  I seem intrigued by the fact that there is Anna from the Alexandria Safe Zone who has an interest in Carl and it seems that Carl is interested in her by the dialogue in #127 by him and Negan but he also had some interest in Lydia which might cause some trouble I assume.

 

Needless to say, I would give the issue a 8.75 / 10

Gregory and the disgruntled parents discuss Maggie and say its to much to kill Maggie. Gregory argues that things were better when he was in charge.

Carl and Lydia talk between the cells and Lydia basically tells Carl how she has been surviving and that there has been a lot of bad people outside.

Rick eventually makes it back to the ASZ and suprises Andrea.

the whisperers watch this hilltop and discuss what to do about Lydia, they say she can handle herself.

Sophia wakes up and is afraid for her life and Maggie explains how they were almost beaten to death by Carl. Then Jesus is seen with the doctor and he kisses him. the boys that Carl almost killed have stabalized. Maggie discusses what happened with the boys to Sophia and she calls them monsters. she frees Carl, but says their must be punishment for his actions like a counseling.

The disgruntled parents discuss further and agree that Maggie should die, but Carl must die too.

Carl is seen talking to Lydia from behind the door and discuss

Carl is later freed by Maggie and is then talkes to Lydia from behind the door. he eventually opens the door and gives her his Hat. She is smiling....

great building issue on things brewing on the Hilltop and ASZ.

I think you're being extremely generous in giving it an 8.75... 

Dont get me wrong there was nothing terrible about the issue, but it just seemed to me like VERY little actually happened... 

And the whole Carl Grimes love life thing is also a bit meh for me...

This was a good building issue!   I really wish someone rubbed Gregory out a long time ago, but his time will come...  I think Carl is still a little green when it comes to trusting people in this world.  If Lydia goes running off I only hope that the Whisperers have good intentions but its anyones guess...

Also, Gregory is too much of a pansy to kill Maggie, much less Carl. That dudes totally gonna get fed to roamers. Also, I'm worried about Lydia. Thinking back to her creepy face reveal, I think she's putting on a show to Carl making him care about her and think she's scared and vulnerable. I think the face she makes after Carl gave her his hat reinforces that she's manipulating the fuck out of him and the fact that her skin suit friends said that she's "strong" and "will last" makes me think she's going to try to work on taking down the hilltop from the inside or at least weaken it. Also, back to ASZ finally. Good to see that Andrea and Magna are getting along. Maybe Rick can get in on some threesome action?! Haha…. I actually forgot Magna existed. $10 says the skin jobs are gonna crash the Fair.

I was thinking- Carl Poppa (cherry)'s Harem gets bigger. Carl is more Negan than Rick now. I think he was genuinely trying to turn Lydia- and it may be working-

Did Carl definitely open the door for Lydia? Maybe im just being really thick but I didn't read it like that at all. It looked to me like she already had Carls hat before that conversation like he threw it over the openings at the top. He was sat with his back against the door talking to her and he didn't have his hat with him.

Maybe I wasn't reading it with enough attention, il have to reread it.

You are correct Neganite- He did not open the door. He threw the hat over. Also did you notice the slick little retcon on Carl's Gunshot wound? I thought that was interesting- I had been wondering if they were going to toy with a head injury-impulse control angle with Carl's violent behavior...

Carl is being too trusting of Lydia. Interesting to see Rick made it back to Alexandria. I think he might have been followed though. Wonder how the Whisperers knew Lydia had been taken seeing as I doubt Paul kept anymore alive. Unless it was the one whose leg he snapped. I guess there could be a ton of them. We should keep count of how many are killed like the thread for Saviors deaths.

 

I enjoyed the issue. I don't care if it was filler or not. We got so many plot lines going on right now. It's fun to see all of them develop together.

I'm thinking the exact same thing about Lydia, something's off there. Sophia will probably take great joy in whipping her ass when she sees Carl's hat on top of that pretty blonde head, haha.

 

Did anyone else think Sophia looked like a thirty five year old woman in a couple of those panels? For a second there I didn't even know who Maggie was talking to, it was like how many beat-the-shit-out-of people do they have in the infirmary on a daily basis?

This issue felt like filler but I still liked it. And goooddddd Lydia creeps me out with the whole "scared" thing, don't like her having the Grimes hat, but nice to see Carl did keep it.

We keep checking in on Jesus' love life, but barely.....to the extent that we don't need to check in at all if it's not gonna be fleshed out at all.
We have zero reasons to care about who he's with or that he's with someone. Kirkman is literally wasting a couple pages just to go "yup, he's still gay" and then leaving it at that.
