What about you guys?

Imagine a group of a hundred motorcycles driving down a freeway. Eventually, they hit a junction. One road goes northwest and the other goes northeast. So one guy, we'll call him S, says, "Let's go northwest!" A mile past the intersection, a semi careens into the group and kills ninety of them. Ten are wounded, but they survive and keep going. Eventually, they hit 10,000 miles. S suddenly has his consciousness thrown into his past body right before the junction. Now, he says, "Let's go northeast!" All 100 bikers survive. Happily ever after, right? But what about the ten, no nine, who went northwest and survived? What happens to the reality they were living? Does it just disappear now that S has changed the past? It's not like only bad things happened on that 10,000 mile journey. Maybe one of them fell in love with a gas station attendant and got her pregnant or maybe one adopted a homeless kid that joined the adventure. That 10,000 mile journey would be full of stories. Romances, farewells, friendships...the loss of those ninety lives is horrible and unfortunate, but what would rewriting their history mean? The nine who survived lived full lives and did the best they could with the hand they were dealt. How could it be right to just erase all that? Isn't that worth something? Is there a point to a world where everything is happy? Are people who struggle for a better life just idiots? Being human is about fighting even when it seems hopeless and finding happiness in a world that hates it. Are you saying that's worthless?

Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past, or the present, are certain to miss the future.

Most people have their lists full of pretty famous characters...

Mine is a little more obscure. And JesusMonroe, you lumped a whole bunch of Ace Attorney characters togethor.

Can't decide? Haha.

I have an actual best to worst AA character list haha. Here's top 25 if you're interested

Spoiler

And Naza, I think it's interesting that you put Junpei on your list. I was gonna put this in the "Currently playing..." thread but I've gotten through most of 999 in the past few days. I only have one ending left

I'm going to have to force myself to a one character per game series limit, or else my list is going to be way bigger than 10. Anyway, in no particular order:

Kenny (The Walking Dead)
Ellie (The Last of Us)
Steven Heck (Alpha Protocol)
Iorveth (The Witcher 2)
John Marston (Red Dead Redemption)
Yukari (Persona 3)
Mr. Torgue (Borderlands 2)
Loghain (Dragon Age: Origins)
Cass (Fallout: New Vegas)
The Boss: Female Voice 1 (Saints Row 3/4)

It is time (and I am grouping the MGS characters together), here is my list in no order:

Andrew Ryan (Bioshock)

SHODAN (System Shock)

John Marston (Red Dead Redemption)

Porky Minch (EarthBound, Mother 3)

Kefka Palazzo (FF6)

Albert Wesker (Resident Evil series)

Richard Grey (Fallout 1)

Jon Irenicus (Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn)

Joel/Ellie (TLoU)

Solid Snake/Big Boss/Liquid Ocelot/The Boss (Metal Gear Solid series)

Some are technically cheating, but it was a hard list.

Cool, nice!

Oh, and by the way, I was actually talking about Junpei from Persona 3... Sorry man, didn't mean to be misleading.

I haven't actually played 999. Tried to find it on ebay last year but couldn't. I might try again.

Damn. That really took the wind out of my sails. I didn't really think of the odds of there being two characters named Junpei

And if you can't get a brand new copy on ebay, I'd suggest just getting a rom. The game allows you to fastforward through text you've already seen, but a new playthrough can yield a very subtle bit of new text that you'll get from a new decision. If you get a used copy, since the previous owner has likely beaten the game, you'll probably plow through that text and miss out on clues

Would there be any way to erase the previous owner's save game?

Just to avoid all that. Sorry about the Junpei thing as well, haha. I knew there was a Junpei in 999 but I didn't think anyone here had played that game.
