Help me out people.

Was Shane the guy Lori was schlepping before the fallout? Or was there a different guy?

I dont know for sure if Lori was sleeping with Officer Shane (or anyone) before the outbreak. If it happened in the comic that does not mean it will hold true for the TV series, either.

heh... "schlepping"...

Yeah, Lori and Shane were getting it on until Rick returned from the dead.  Apparently Shane had told her that Rick was dead...

I thought he was asking if they were shagging BEFORE the outbreak started? But, perhaps I read his question wrongly. =)

hurm... it appears that you could be right.  Or I could.  Kinda can go either way...

I don't believe there's ever been anything that suggests they were carrying on before the outbreak, was there?

I didn’t think there was anything to really indicate that. When I first saw Lori and Rick I felt the tension between them, and I wondered if there had been something secret going on previously. But after viewing epi 3, I am pretty sure there was nothing going on prior to the outbreak.

I rated this episode GOOD, because there could have been a bit more action. Now I realize that there is a need for character developement because if all there was was zombie blasting it would eventually get boring.
I agree with Blake in the theme. AMC does not want this to be a mindless zombie shoot, but a story. Remember the motto: Story Matters Here. (Gory too!). Keep up the good work AMC. I am hooked.

In E3, Rick asks Lori about the "the person they left behind"...to which Lori replies with "are you seriously asking me this"....or something to that affect. Also, in the opening sequence of E1 Shane and Rick are BS'ing in their car and I was sure Rick says he thinks Lori is having an affair to which Shane said nothing and did a raised eyebrow gesture. Maybe I experimented to much in highschool but that is what I remember. Leading me to believe that Lori was messing around before the fallout. Guess I will be rewatching some epi's tonight (o:

Ok seriously, am I the only one who is upset about the differences between the comic and the show? Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the show. I'm right there every sunday waiting for the show to start. However, who the fuck is T-Dogg?? Is he a Tyreese replacement? And Merle and Dylan Dixson? Where are all these other characters coming from? I guess a fair assumption would be to say that the show is VERY LOOSELY based off the comic.

I have not read them but a few bits so far and apparently it was changed up so that comic book fans would not be bored by knowing the plot. So they made changes to keep everyone interested.

I didn't need to hear about Maytay or vibrator or put up with wife beater trash talk. They better be shooting and ass kicking before I move on and I am probably the biggest zombie fan in here.

If you want zombie mayhem every episode, I can tell you now you're not going to enjoy the series. And you sound like a jerk calling yourself the biggest fan of anything.

Never happened.

Yeah, it's all very loose what with Rick Grimes, Georgia police officer, waking up from a gunshot wound in the zombie apocalypse where he meets up with a man named Morgan and his son Duane, who point him in the direction of Atlanta. There Rick comes into contact with Glenn, who leads them back to the camp where Rick's wife and son are alive and well. Things are complicated with Rick's former partner Shane having been involved with the apparent widow Lori...

i've read the comics, but i like the series as well. i think more characters in the beginning (+the helicopter) should focus faster on the main topics of the story: so the series deals from the start with topics like racism (merle and his brother, btw: anyone seen the "boondock saints"? :P) , staying a human and how far would you go to save the people you love.

kirkman said in an interview, that he likes the idea of starting the story again and having the chance to change things he disliked later.

I may have to rewatch it, but I don't recall talk of leaving someone behind.  And, I know Rick didn't say anything about an affair... he said they were having problems, and they'd had a rough night, but not an affair...

The affair has been blown up a bit for the series. Zombies will only get you so far with Mr. and Mrs. America. While I could watch zombie slaughter for quite some time some of the more normal (use the term loosely) folks like a bit of sexual tension/intrigue. Makes it more entertaining for the masses. Better ratings. Which = more shows for me!

Don't worry. The zombies will be back with a vengeance. But even in the comic they served as the reason behind the apocalypse but it's the humans that are the true stars of the show.

Agreed. They do absolutely nothing for the story and add no individual interest, something the characters in the comic never struggled with

Well it seems like you're implying that the love triangle and everything else is just thrown in because execs think they need more than just zombies.

The love triangle and everything else is thrown in because that's what TWD is.

I said the affair was blown up for the show. And it was. If that somehow implied that everything else other than zombies has been thrown in because studio execs said so I do apologize for the confusion.

I think it has... this is probably their way of trying to broaded the audience...

No it isn't. Kirkman has said several times that things will be different (and improved). There will be new characters, and Shane will be around longer than he was in the comics.

So based on that, which is more likely: the changes to the love triangle are the result of a desire to add more nuance and depth to the existing story structure

or

'Women like soap operas. Let's make the show more like that so that we can tap into the 'Days of Our Lives' demographic'?

Sorry to rehash an old post but I rewatched "...frogs" and he clearly asks Lori about "the man we left behind"....Till proven wrong I figure its gotta be Shane......maybe its a metaphor regarding himself but I highly doubt it by Lori's reaction.
