She better be dead because if not, that means the prison only lost 2 people, one of them being a redshirt and that'd be just bullshit ridiculous

Sorry, Charlie.

I think Judith survived. Like someone mentioned earlier, they're making a play on the comic storyline. They want us to think she's dead, but she's not. I personally think she made it to the bus with Beth but I wouldn't be surprised if Lilly grabbed her.

We saw Beth run off with Superman Daryl. Beth didn't make it on the bus.

That baby is alive. I've no doubt. The whole scene strongly suggests it. Someone removed her. Walking or running with a carrier sucks. It doesn't allow for natural movement. Had walkers eaten her, there'd have been a far more disgusting scene. It certainly has people talking though, huh?

Oops must have missed that part. I still think she's alive though.

I wouldn't be surprised if we learn that one of the kids covered Judith with some "walker blood and guts" to help her avoid detection?

Surely Carol taught the kids on ways to avoid walkers.

She's not dead. As others have mentioned in this thread, TTD show did not mention her "in memoriam" and Kirkman skated around the subject for the most part.

He also mentions that the greater the character, the worse their death has to be. Since her character -although non-speaking- symbolizes everything still "good" in the ZA, her only fitting death would be horrible.

I'm hoping that The Hunters get her... but I predict that she'll make it all the way to the end of the show.

She's probably dead, there was blood in the seat. AMC couldn't get away with killing a baby on screen, though the gov's girl Meghan got bitten and we saw Sophia as a zombie.

If she is dead then it's the children's fault for leaving her unsupervised

God, Lori and Shane made a really cute baby.

I think that she looks like she is Rick's baby but she is a cute little girl.

I guess it's possible that someone scooped her up, but I tend to believe she's dead. It would feel kinda cheap and formulaic if there is a big reunion with Rick and Carl down the road.

Crap, now I'm on the Judith is alive bandwagon.

I wouldn't have been surprised if Tyreese did indeed get shot considering he was pretty exposed, out in the open when Alisha and random soldier were shooting at him. And it's a possibility that Judith was injured via a piece of shrapnel or shell round when the tank started blowing holes in the prison.

Yeah, I began to wonder about that tonight, whether she was possibly injured. In fact, in that case she could still be dead, dieing of her injuries during the mid-season break.

I wouldn't be surprised if we learn that one of the kids covered Judith with some "walker blood and guts" to help her avoid detection?

Surely Carol taught the kids on ways to avoid walkers.

Nice thought.

And, the Tyreese GIF? Isn't that the bridge where Rick and Lori had their last tender moment together? That would be an interesting juxtaposition, although if Judith isn't dead, then I'm not sure quite what the point would be.

Boo. I really wish she had died. I've been waiting for so long to see baby walker crawling around trying to kill people.

I think the obvious answer is that AMC/Writers/Gimple/Kirkman....don't know yet if Judith is alive or dead. They left it JUST ambiguous enough to cause conversation and guage public reaction to the death of the baby. When the time comes they will decide to either have the characters confirm she's dead through a line of dialog....or magically have a character walk up and say "She's not dead. I had her the whole time! lol silly guise!"

You do know that filming for the season is complete, right? I find it very hard to believe that the writers and producers have no idea what happened to her.

I think Judith is alive, though I acknowledge that's partly wishful thinking. I hate all the deaths. But...

After Andrew, I will never again believe that anyone on TWD is dead unless we see them die on screen. Like Hershel.

If Judith was devoured, there should have been at least some scraps of clothing left, though I agree they wouldn't show baby bits.

The opened straps of the car seat, Lizzie and Mika taking off after saving Tyreese with definite purpose, the gif of Tyreese carrying something.

Kirkman's hedging on TTD.

This way they get the immediate angst for Carl and Rick and it's impact on their characters and then a joyful reunion later on.

After rewatching the episode, I'm 80% certain she's alive and with the "other two" kids. There were four kids plus Judith when Lizzie gave her speech about helping. In the end scene with Tyrese there are just the sisters. The other two are missing. And the give away is when they turn to run back into the prison and Tyrese yells that they're going the wrong way. The inference, to me, is that the other two kids plus Judith are probably hiding in a cell inside the prison. Lizzie and her sister are going back to get them.

And that's a great pick up about the walker guts trick. Lizzie is deranged enough to use that on Judith in order to camouflage her. That could explain the blood. And it fits with her fileting of animals, etc. Lizzie's whole story line (aside from being a budding psychopath) is her trying to find a helpful role in the group. That wouldn't entail leaving an infant to be eaten. It just wouldn't be consistent with her character development.

I'm going to buy into the theory that Ty is carrying Judith as he runs through that clip.

When asked about Judith, Kirkman replied, "That was a lot of blood." Which brings me back to the blood. In the screen cap provided by slimymeteor, it shows what seems to be a gelatinous glob on the head rest about half the size of a baby's head. Now...whoever lifted her out of there would have been bleeding profusely. I thought Ty was shot in the leg - which unless spurting, would be running down his leg. If it's Judith's blood, it's too much loss for an infant to survive and the glob suggests a head wound. Bob was wounded in the upper body and would have bled downward and into the carrier if he was bent over it. Was anyone else in the group wounded?

Would they be so devious as to have a wounded WB person lift her out and take her to the bus? I suppose we're meant to debate this issue until February, which is why we have a mid-season cliffhanger. Can't wait! Ooh, my head is hurting.

Hi everybody,

Just wanna throw my 2 piece on this subject; I think Judith is still alive but I kinda hope that she passed away (is that bad??).. My theory that she is alive is completely based on the lack of blood in the seat. In S2Ep1 T-dog finds a child seat covered in blood (one of the most disturbing things I have seen on a television programme (well since the whole “make way for the king of the north” scene in Got) (a bracket within a bracket its like inception)) … if she did pass away at the battle royal at the prison I think it would bring the ricks/carl story along so much better, all hope is gone, there relationship as father and son etc..

Also on the slight chance that the makers of the walking dead read this website I just wanna congratulate them on season 4, in my opinion there hasn’t been one bad episode this season. Scott Gimple has done a fantastic job

My gut reaction was she was dead. It would be unacceptable to show gore in the death scene of an infant. It would be in poor taste to show a walker eating the baby or have the remains of Judith in the car seat. You might be able to have shot from a long distance in which a walker was on his knees with his head in the car seat however. Any reaction from Rick that didn’t include killing that walker and crying over the body of his dead daughter would seem contrived. So all in all even the distance shot wouldn’t work. The only way to kill Judith was to “Lori” her.

Having said all that reading some of your comments I am coming around to the idea she may still be alive. As for all the blood in the car seat; I am alright with the Idea that the person who scooped her up had hands covered in blood. If the person’s hands were covered in blood (and I mean covered in blood) there would be blood on the sides of the seat where you reach in to grab her and then when you shift your hands to the back of her head and bum to pick her up you would smear even more blood.

And yes I said bum. Maggie has an ass, Judith has a bum. :)

....You do know which show you're watching don't you? There is more evidence of them NOT knowing where they're going than evidence to support any other conclusion.

What evidence?

The constant meandering around without direction in season 2. Killing Carol, then deciding to have her locked in a cell for Daryl to find, more meandering in Woodberry, the inability to decide whether to make the Governor a villain or a misunderstood character worthy of sympathy, Letting the Governor survive the first assault on the prison just to have him piddle around directionless for 2 episodes in the next season waiting to fail again. Killing Andrea....or not killing Andrea...Or...Killing Andrea in a different way whatever ended up happening there. Firing and hiring 3 show runners in 4 seasons?

I think she's dead (that the blood in the carrier was the tv's watered down baby death to avoid controversy) but I'm super hoping that the next episode(s) will reveal that somebody managed to get her.

Until we know 100%, I'm open to any idea on the matter but after the way Lori's body was handled, I'm not sure what to expect. I guess it depends on who's call it was back then to make a Walker eat her entire body lol

The lack of direction mirrors the mindset of survivors who have no "safe" place to go. Every time someone loses someone close to them, they are filled with doubts/regret/mourning. I think that the WD shows a little bit of the apathy or loss of reason that some characters would have. Rick after his wife dies. Carol after her daughter is zombified. The Guv after Woodbury is destroyed and his zombie daughter destroyed. Andrea after her sister, then Dale dies. I didn't really take to Andrea. I felt any person of integrity would have killed the Gov, even if they were sleeping with him. It was partially on her that som many dies from the Gov's actions. I have more than a few things that kind of irked me about the way the show has gone and who survived, but all in all the WD is still one of the best all around shows on TV.

Yes, he was shot. He was about to be killed by the Guv's crew when Lizzie shot them.

Well, now I'm not sure whether he was actually shot or not. I just re-watched that scene. It did look like he was sprayed with gunfire when he was lying in the garden, but when he stood up, he seemed to be okay.

There is a slight wound here.
