Frontiers was amazing you don't know what your missing.

i really liked frontiers.  i don't make noises at movies very often, but there was one part (involving a table saw) where i was going "argggh argggh arggh".  but in a good way.:)

i saw the devil is really good too.

you liked open water?  (well yeah or you wouldn't have said so haha).  it made me mad.  see, because i'm a dumbass and when it said, "based on true events," of course i thought, "well they must have lived because otherwise how could they know the story?"  hahahaha  i wouldn't call that horror necessarily, drama i guess.

i haven't read the entire thread but i haven't seen inside or frontiers on any lists.  i haven't even seen high tension with its huge gaping plot wound.  i have to put inside at the top of my list because it's the only movie where i ever shut my eyes and was unable to watch the end.  i rewatched it three times but i just couldn't do it.  it also has the money shot of horror movies.  i won't spoil it if you haven't seen it because the surprise of it isn't inconsequential.  if you have seen it, you know what i'm talking about.  and it has beatrice dalle, arguably the scariest female villain of all time.

it seems like lately some of the best horror has been french.  even though i didn't especially care for the remakes of the hills have eyes, aja is a very gory director.

i couldn't get my hands on an uncut version of murder set pieces, and i wasn't about to buy it.  i also am not going to watch slaughtered vomit dolls, but aside from those, i can't think of any horror movies i haven't seen.  i don't usually make lists because it would kind of be like asking an 800 lb. person, "what are your favorite foods?" (all of them)

Oh yes! INSIDE is one of my top favorites. Do check out PREY and Eden Lake. The French sure do know horror.(Unrated)

I enjoyed Open Water for the simple fact it was shot without anything fancy and the sharks were real (handled by wranglers below) and the fact that it was dark and intense not knowing when or if the sharks were going to take a bite of the two drifters. Its loosely based off the events of two lost scuba divers, Tom and Eileen Lonergan, who were left behind on the boat in the 1990s due to an inacurate count of people on board the boat.

Just watched Attack the Block last night. I absolutely recommend this movie. Its from the producers of Shaun of the Dead (Nick Frost is in it) and it was much fun. Dark humor and intense with characters you will not like at first - but by the end you'll be rooting for them
as they have totally grown on you. =)

The creatures were cool, too and very little CG was used during the entire film.

Well, I finally got around to really watching The Human Centipede 2. I really enjoyed the first one but part 2 was probably the grossest movie I have ever seen. Not just the gore but the main character is naaaaasty as all fuck - so its a combination of things. Excuse my language but - OMG, SICK. I usually never have to watch a movie through my fingers but I did for several parts of this movie. And like I already said - the main character is the grossest, nastiest little fat man-midget I've ever seen and he just seriously made me feel ill. I really have to wonder how the acting/casting call for THAT part was described . Id love to know. Totally freakin SICK. And I am not easily squeemish. Thank goodness it was in B&W or I may seriously have thrown up on my couch.

That being said the director Tom Sixx REALLY pushes the limits in this film. the cinematography of the film is actually quite well done and thouroughly twisted and creepy. very dark atmosphere which just adds to the creepfest. It deserves a higher rating than its been given and I think hard core horror fans will give it such. Just remember - once you watch it you cant unwatch it!!

HEY GUYS, ANY OTHER TWILIGHT FANS???

Just kidding, I'd rather walk into TWD universe Atlanta and lie down in the street shooting loud-ass cap guns than read/watch that tripe.

Anyone seen Iron sky?

Iron Sky

About Nazis hiding for 70 years on the moon. Check out the MILF Sarah Palin lookalike at 0:40.....

One of those movies where you leave your brain at the entrance to the cinema I think.

D'you know Tex, I wouldn't mind seeing it, probably for one of those drunken Friday nights where you've had too many sherries and you can't be bothered going out.

I can't believe I never saw this topic before.  I didn't read the entire thing, but so many good movies are mentioned throughout this.  The recommendations for Frontiers has convinced me to finally blow the dust off of it (it's been in my netflix queue for a solid year) and give it a watch.  I saw the Devil was fantastic.  Liked The Devil's Backbone too -- del Toro is a fantastic visual director, and should dip into horror more often because he uses imagery so well. I'm a bit of a horror geek, but I tend to like campy old flicks.  Evil Dead, old Romero, 80's slashers.  As much as I love zombie gore, I really dislike a lot of the tortureporn that gets produced today.  Another complaint I have with more recent horror is that they somehow decided startling people was the same as scaring them.  I love to be unnerved, haunted.  And yeah, the surprise every once in a while that gets your blood pumping can be awesome, but so many directors boil their movie down to jump-scares that it makes me want to scream.  In anger, not fright.

Just saw a movie the other night - LOVED it.

Stake Land. Was a great little (local to my area) low budget indie film. Like the Walking Dead (Which is why netflix reccomended the movie to me) it focused more on characterization rather then the gore and the apocalypse. Acting was great, the atmosphere of the film was great (especially for me seeing the run down areas not far from me) and the main characters are really likable. Actually one of the best movies Ive watched all year.

Anyways if you love post-apocalyptic movies then you will want to check this one out for sure.

I just recently watched The Horde (which was foreign) so I've had my share of sub-titled movies to last me the next 6 months or so. It wasn't a bad movie, just some of the moments, the way the infected acted, and of course, the dialogue, had me  3/4th's of the time.

The Horde struck me as more 28 days. The subtitles get old quick.

I enjoyed Stake Land quite a lot when I watched it.

I watched The Dead today.  Basically zombies in Africa.  It's rated fresh on Rottentomatoes, which was why I decided to give it a whirl, but it didn't really do much for me.  Lethargic zombies, so-so acting, stuff that doesn't make sense (Like why the hell there are so many zombies but so few houses and villages).  If you love your zeds at all cost, it's slightly above-average for a zombie flick. You can do better, though, IMO.
