double click

Hi,

I'm also a member on a soccer forum in the UK, when the page has several threads, a double click will take you back to the top of the page. They're using Invision sofware by the looks of it, not sure if you could install a piece of software here but it might be a useful little addition.

Also, I use firefox with this forum, when using IE I find it sometimes stalls, whether or not this is a browser issue or my Pentium 75, 128 meg of RAM and 2.5 Gig HDD PC thats the problem....

Cheers

Heeey!

I've been lurking for a while, and decided to finally join, I'm hoping you don't bite..! Puns aside, I'm a poor student from the UK and I was introduced to The Walking Dead by a friend of mine early last year. Read up to issue 90 since then and thoroughly enjoyed both season of the TV show as well.

I never really know what to put in these introductions, so I guess I'll leave and have a roam around the forum.

Live Leak the new realty news station?

Personally liveleak fulfills my daily kick of real news, some if not all of us watch the news, in print, online form for some type of informative pleasure voyeur kick. With the main stream media you can view some pretty tame scenes of say a riot or a brief firefight. With liveleak you are virtually taken to the battle field, or the scene of the latest suicide attack, all recorded by folk on the scene with the ir mobile phones or HD resolution new crews.
Last night I watched a Chinese lady go to a restaurant with her friends and eat a huge toad, the toad was first disemboweled and cut in half. The next scene showed it blinking sitting disemboweled in its own soup whilst this young lady ate him.
I've also seen electrocutions, suicides, massacres, bomb blasts, the aftermath of bomb blasts, cows getting run over by a huge truck, massive car crashed, children being shot dead in their mothers arms. We watch the walking dead and revel in the scenes of death, what are we?
Isnt this what we want to see every night? Isn't this why the news is heavily censored to save us from these "real" scenes. is death real?
Why is war glorified and romantisiced?
What happens to us when we die? This is a thought that has been heavy on my mind since I was 13 and realised that the universe is infinite.

Are we really alive?Or is this a state of illusion or a between state?

Pointless Acts of Stupidity

Nobody's perfect - yeah, yeah, yeah... we all know that, and we're all just a bunch of silly goofs making silly, goofy decisions on a daily basis. TWD is far and away no exception, and what better group of haphazard dimwits is there to represent our random, silly behavior than Rick, Shane, Lori, Glenn, T-Dog and crew? Now, I truly believe the windows to a man's heart is through his eyes. Looking a man (or woman) in those eyes reveals his/her character, personality, motives, and soul -- his/her heart. I also truly believe looking into the eyes of many of TWD's survivors will reveal a truly disturbing happening. Something so gutwrenching and mindboggling is going on inside those eyes and deep down in that soul that you would wonder how they've made it this far by all the silly, pointless acts of stupidity that they've made.

Looking past Rick's front of a calm, cool, collected, tough bastard who's willing to do whatever it takes to protect his family, or Lori's intense disciplinary actions that are truly warranted of Mom of the Year nominations, or Glenn's courageous willingness to risk his pizza delivering future in order to attain condoms, lotions, and birth control pills, or T-Dog's heroic stance in the face of danger refraining from unleashing his demonic potential and heavenly voice reveals an absolutely, positively, disturbing, sickening image. It reveals...

	Spoiler

Honestly.

It's that bad. I truly feel sorry for them and the mind has been blown as to how they've made it this far and to the "safety" of a prison. God help them that dancing like this will be able to unlock their cell once they accidentally lock themselves inside...

Anyway, the reason for all this nonsense. The show is filled to the brim with questionable scenes and moments, and acting and choices the characters make. Yes it's a show and all these "idiotic, random, pointless" acts of stupidity are written in for a reason, but look past that, and point out which moment or scene you felt was truly pointless and stupid that led to events that just wasn't necessary.

I can think of 3 big ones and they're all in season 2.

- Glenn risking his life for NOTHING as he's lowered into the well to "retrieve" Well Walker.

- Rick risking himself, Glenn, and Hershel in order to save Randall -- someone who -- just moments before -- was trying to kill them. You gotta think about the repercussions this could've had if someone (or all of them) died as a result of trying to rescue a lost cause, as well as the consequences of this decision that followed (Dale's death, Shane's death, loyalty & trust broken)

- Lori. Lori, Lori, Lori... you go after Hershel who already has Rick tracking him down. You really think the rescue party needs rescuing as well? And you really think you're going to make a difference all by your lonesome? And you're telling me that even though there's not another soul on the road for miles who can drive a car, you somehow manage to totally wipeout thus endangering not only yourself, but your unborn child as well? Rick can drive for miles without looking at the road, and Glenn can zigzag all over the road "like Asians do" while they drive, yet you can't even go a mile before going all Death Race?

So there's 3 fairly big scenarios of pointless acts of stupidity that I want to try and get a discussion going about. Which of the 3 is the more pointless? Which had the most repercussions for their actions, and which could have or did have the most consequences? Perhaps I'm missing a moment that you think is stupid enough or pointless enough to be mentioned as well - throw it in the mix.

So whacha think? Glenn and his well walker, Rick helping Randall, or Lori being Lori?

Discuss!... please?

Other uses for everyday stuff

Hi,

As we tend to live in a throwaway society, stuff we might otherwise chuck out can have one or more uses when things get hairy.

A couple of examples, the bottle tops off Pepsi / coke bottles (or any soft drink) can double up as good, if somewhat slightly toxic firelighters. Discarded rope can be used for numerous things, not least as a wick to direct rainfall into a container, but also as a source of firelighter after being soaked in kerosene.
Speaking of used bottles, rinsed out they're obviosly good for water storage (short term), but you can cut them in half and use them as a funnel.
Back in the days of 35mm film (before digital cameras came along) the old plastic film tubes made excellent waterproof match containers - probably not much use nowadays but it might be worth using old tupperware storage to keep your matches / emergency lighters etc clean and dry.

Please add your own, unfortunately my imagination and memory are hazy at the moment cos I've only had 2 hours sleep (Tex Jr not very well )
