she's making the good choice .. i hope at some point in the season, the surviving kids get some sort of gun training like carl had b/c otherwise your pretty much just rasing a "meatshield" = something that's just a added layer of protection, a defenseless kid will more than likely get bitten before oneself would ..... if those kids go without any sort of training they won't survive to adulthood
i hated the fact that rick was so far gone that he took carl's gun, i was like he might as well just put a dinner bell around his neck

First, welcome back!
Secondly, I beg to differ about it being so easy to hide his involvement. It seems that everyone knows Rick's stance. Rick may have also asked the others to tell him if they see Carl disobeying. If so, someone might have told even if Rick didn't ask specifically about that incident.
Thanks! Cant stay away for too long
That is true. Although my point (poorly made haha) was more that Carl seems to be eager to please his dad rather than nervous about getting into trouble. Kind of like a little kid that discloses everything to their parents and cant keep a secret from them. If this were a previous season he would have not disclosed that information. If someone told on Carl his defense would have been it was a life/death kind of scenario, so it would have been something easily forgiven as it had been in the past. That is why I doubted Maggie or Michonne would even bring it up because its not like Carl had the gun on him to begin with, he simply reacted to the danger and ran to get it. So in a sense he was not actively disobeying Rick, he was just doing something that needed to be done in the moment. However the fact that he did supply that information is a bit telling to me that Carl feels some sort of guilt about his dad's breakdown since he is kind of walking on eggshells with him and trying really hard to be obedient (however its still clear he feels some need to contribute).
As far as the Carol scenario, I don't think Carl's involvement would have been known if he hadn't have told Rick. If Carl didn't tell and kept his distance from the scenario then whoever found out would have no evidence of his knowledge. Carol herself wouldn't tell Rick that Carl knew as it would look bad on her if she knowingly undermined Rick to tell his own son not to disclose information to him.
