Kirkman has shown us the soft side of Dwight that is why there is so much discussion about him. He probably has the most development as of late. So we have this mysterious guy with his face half chewed up and he kills Abe. That got our attention for sure. Then he gets his dick chomped by the Euge. I couldn't help but wonder if his dick was completely bitten off or not. He is shown to be a shitty battle commander and then get's captured. He then allows himself to be followed, captures Jesus but he get's away and doesn't tell Negan about it. He beats up Carl even Negan thinks he was being excessive. He even get's his own love story out of it. What other villian so far has that? I'm sure I missed a few events there, but what I'm saying is that he is one of the most fleshed out villans so far. And yes IMO he is still considered a bad guy even though he is trying to team up with Rick. This is how Rick sees it. I don't think he will get killed off right away. I think Kirkman has something special to do with Dwight. It is too predictable that Negan finds out he is a traitor and knifes him in 111 or 112. I could see the downfall of Negan eventually and Dwight stabs Rick in the Back to take the lead over the saviors. But in the end I think Dwight's stupidity will be his downfall. Don't trust this fool

1.Dexter threatens to kill them first and kick them out of the prison effectively killing them = self defense
2.Nick threatened kill Rick first to take over ASZ/ beats Glen, holds him at gun point / points gun at heath = self defense
3.Rick killed Ethan after he stabbed Gregory a few feet from him = protecting someone/self defense
4. Saviors tried to extort them first ( see pages posted above)
5. Rick killed Martinez to stop him from reveling the location of the prison to the Governor = protecting people/self defense
6. Pete Anderson was a child beater and fist fought with Rick only to pull a knife killing Regina Monroe and killing him with Douglas`s approval = protecting someone/self defense

So IMO Rick dont fit the bill.

Yeah it's open to opinions, my overall point is you accept and understand the awful things Rick does because he's the hero, BUT MURDERING PEOPLE TO GET YOUR WAY ISN'T SELF DEFENSE.

Dwight is a better character than the majority of characters in the series right now. So what if he killed Abraham. Abraham wasn't the first big death and he won't be the last. And who was that other guy that smashed the asian kids head two issues later and gave Dwight the orders to go kill people? OH RIGHT I remember now Negan. I don't see nearly as much bitching about Negan as I do about Dwight, which frankly makes absolutely no fucking sense.

Thats probably because the post says what do you think about Dwight, not what do you think about Negan

But it isn't to get his own way...He is doing that to protect his people
All the points PT listed were situations where Rick was helping others rather than just himself

True, Rick was helping his people. but the same could be said for Dwight with his actions. I am simply trying to point out that Rick is not benevolent, he's flawed just like Dwight, we just find his actions more justifiable because we've been in his camp the whole series. Dwight attacked Alexandria most likely through orders from Negan after 3 of his people had been killed and the rest were offered Rick's "deal". He kicks Carl once which is probably a good idea rather than allowing him to pick the gun back up and continue firing, yes he would have hit him more but Negan stopped him. Rick's first murder was Dexter, they locked him up unrighteously after moving in to the prison that the prisoners had been in for months. Dexter didn't want to be controlled by a group of people with weapons. He got a hold of some himself and demanded they leave. We're routing for Rick and his people's safety but that was not self defense, it was a hostile take over. I also still believe that shooting a man held down on the ground with no weapons (Pete Andersen) cannot possibly be considered self defense, it was revenge plain and simple.

The same could not be said for Dwight and the Saviors they are a ruthless group of killers terrorizing and strong arming several community's of people. Dwight knows this and still goes along with it and they would have attacked ASZ one way or another( Jesus mentions it was only a matter of time till they found them).
Rick is a flawed leader we all know this that is one of the main reasons we all love the guy , but they have never gone out seeking to take over or to terrorize innocent people.
Rick always regretted killing Dexter and realizes it was a early mistake he made , but he felt the need of the people out weighed any reservations Dexter(they let them out of the cells) had about not being in control. You could call them locking them up unrighteous but one of them did end up killing the twins so its debatable that it was wrong to do that.
Dexter also forced Rick to make the decision to kill him its not like Rick planned to do it.
Rick took some pleasure from killing Pete for sure but he did not intend to murder him. He just wanted to scare the shit out of him so he would stop beating his child. Pete kills Regina Monroe in front of everyone including her husband and child , Rick does not pull the trigger until the man(Douglas) in charge of ASZ gives him the ok to do it.
The only time Rick has shown any kind of behavior like the Saviors is when he said he would just take ASZ by force but quickly changes his mind.

No one bitches about Negan because there is no question at the moment that he won't join Ricks group.

Around issue 103 and 104 Dwight captured Jesus, figured out Rick sent him, and was going to hand his ass to Negan before Jesus escaped. Now in 108 Dwight has a change of heart? Sure Negan screwed his world over in a literal sense, but he may side with his tormentor and rat out everyone's plan. I like the complexity of Dwight's character, like the comic version of a Merle type.

Imagine a group of a hundred motorcycles driving down a freeway. Eventually, they hit a junction. One road goes northwest and the other goes northeast. So one guy, we'll call him S, says, "Let's go northwest!" A mile past the intersection, a semi careens into the group and kills ninety of them. Ten are wounded, but they survive and keep going. Eventually, they hit 10,000 miles. S suddenly has his consciousness thrown into his past body right before the junction. Now, he says, "Let's go northeast!" All 100 bikers survive. Happily ever after, right? But what about the ten, no nine, who went northwest and survived? What happens to the reality they were living? Does it just disappear now that S has changed the past? It's not like only bad things happened on that 10,000 mile journey. Maybe one of them fell in love with a gas station attendant and got her pregnant or maybe one adopted a homeless kid that joined the adventure. That 10,000 mile journey would be full of stories. Romances, farewells, friendships...the loss of those ninety lives is horrible and unfortunate, but what would rewriting their history mean? The nine who survived lived full lives and did the best they could with the hand they were dealt. How could it be right to just erase all that? Isn't that worth something? Is there a point to a world where everything is happy? Are people who struggle for a better life just idiots? Being human is about fighting even when it seems hopeless and finding happiness in a world that hates it. Are you saying that's worthless?

I think he's cool.

The design overall is nice (i have an thing for burnscarred characters for some reason), and i do like his character. The fact that he uses an crossbow is also very neat (it's an cool weapon.) He is more grey than white and black, and those are the type of characters i like.

I think Dwight's character is interesting, I want to see him go off on Negan for stealing his girl. And I believe he can find redemption even though he killed Abe, he plans on helping Rick and co take down Negan and he can be there inside man. Every character has done something unspeakable, as we all know. Rather than killing him off I'd like to see him try to become a changed man.

I'm curious to know how he ended up with Negan and crew.....I need more data before I can conclude whether I like him or not. Something that strikes me about him is that he's the only Savior we've seen any real emotion from. I get the impression he might be the sort of character that made a poor choice or two that ended up snowballing into a disaster out of his control, and now he wants to do what he can to stop it. Or he may have been forced into doing Negan's bidding or be killed. Or he may be an endlessly devious shithead who's actually double-crossing Rick with a fake betrayal. He's definitely interesting.

I feel like I need more data on most of the characters. Most are underdeveloped but have potential.
