I wish I could see any sort of happy outcome for her, but short of a 10 year leap, I see her dying as a catalyst for something to snap inside of Rick or Carl.

Angel: I stopped Acathla. That saved the world.

Spike: Buffy ran you through with a sword.

Angel: Yeah, but I made her do it. Signaled her with my eyes.

Spike: She killed you. I helped her. That one counts as mine.

You can see a woman holding a baby when the Woodburians are getting off the bus. It's probably the same baby, is my guess.

SNIPPED...

So, now we have two babies. Are they going to kill both babies? I must say that I really don't see that happening. Does anyone else see TPTB killing both babies off? If they only kill one, which will get killed and which will die? I suspect if only one is killed that it wouldn't be Judith since she is a part of the core group, but even if she is the other child poses the same problems that Judith does.

ETA: Also, I don't like the impact killing Judith off would have on Carol. Carol is the sole surviving female member of the Atlanta camp and she is one of Judith's primary care givers. (Beth being the other.) I don't think it will take long for Carol to have motherly instincts/feelings for Judith, if it hasn't started already. I would hate for Carol to lose another "daughter."

I think Carol has turned into a stronger woman. I think she has a bond with Judith but I think Beth is closer to Judith's mother than Carol is . If Judith does die I hope it doesn't send Carol to a bad place .

I think the more likely thing to happen is Judith's death will certainly have an effect on Beth and Carl more than it would take a toll on Carol. Carol has had more loss than maybe anyone , if anyone has yet to deal with loss I'd be looking straight at Beth and Maggie , specifically Beth. We know its quite possible Judith will die along with Herschel , so I wonder how that will affect her .

As for carol (again) i wouldn't worry too much about her and dealing with death :) she's well adapted

Lots of very interesting points expressed here regarding whether or not the show benefits with Judith. Kids do add another dimension to the story. If the ZA was real, chances are there would still be a number of little ones to protect. However, an inopportune tantrum could easily ignite a walker feeding frenzy. Make that times two if there is a second baby coming in with the Woodburians. But, realistically, the show can't stay at the prison forever. So either our group leaves the Woodburians at the prison and moves on, or they all go and take the children with them. Of course, in the latter case, the adolescent mortality rate is going to skyrocket. And I can't imagine wanting to sit through that.

Judith did die, zombie babies are just a little hard to detect right away. They still crave milk, and cry a lot. They are more lurkers than roamers,, by the way.

One of two things is going to happen to Judith. She'll be with a group of people hiding from a herd and she starts crying, so someone "stops" her from crying to save the group. Or meets the same fate as she did in the comic.

At this point (especially taking the S4 time-jump into consideration) I'd love it if Judith survived the majority of the series and we got to see a child actually growing up in an apocalypse, from birth to adult (we got only half this process with Carl). There are so many possibilities now that they can take with Judith.

Who am I kidding though, they'll probably just end up killing her in the S4 finale for the sake of it.

Children born after the onset of the ZA may be immune or hold the cure. With that at stake, the survivors have to take a different stance to protecting Judith and any other babies.

Also, I have been thinking about the prison. There has to be some interior rooms where any cries would be muffled if heard at all--maybe some administrative offices, the infirmary, or solitary might work. With the arrival of the WB group, they have to clear more of the prison. The smart thing to do would be to create a nursery in these interior rooms. In solitary, there may even be a confined courtyard, like the one Andrew ran into, where the children could play outside in relative safety once they secured the area.

Some may say well 200 years ago women did fine, but who in that group knows what women did 200 years ago to accommodate a baby’s needs?

The babies and mothers died a lot.....the stats I'm finding on the 'net don't appear "fine" according to modern standards and expectations.....the infant mortality rate, and chances of death in childbirth was MUCH higher. Antibiotics and tranfusions have helped us improve those chances significantly, so even the ZA, people might still be better off now......not as many doctors, but the knowledge is still there for anyone who cares to learn.

most prisons should have a 'hole' or 'shoe' where the misbehaving resident is sent for solitary, the room itself could vary from being soundproof (cushioned floor, walls) to being in such a remote location any noise wouldn't travel, much if at all. I could see the scenario where a desperate person tries to quiet down the baby and it goes to far, I remember seeing something familiar happening in a WWII film focusing on people escaping the Nazis.

I could see that scenario too if a herd came through. That is why I am saying if we can see it coming, plan for it. Just like they developed the plan for cutting off limbs if someone has been bitten on them, they could devise a plan that if a herd, or similar threat approached the prison to have any non-fightering adults (elderly, pregnant women, etc.) take the small children into the interior of the prison where any sounds they might make would have less of a chance of creating a problem.

While I am thinking about plans for protection against babies making sounds, we could also devise a few for being on the road. We aren't limited to just plans for the prison. For instance, many cars shield sounds both ways. A mini-van with tinted windows sounds like an option here when on the road--not to mention cars allow for a get away.

Yes, a crying baby is a threat, but mostly if you are trying to hide. Then, maybe hiding isn't the best option when babies are in the mix. If they have lookouts at the prison, I can't imagine not having looking outs on the road where even more dangers exist. T-Dog was the lookout in the first scene of the S3 premiere. In this scene, everyone was quiet, but they didn't stay and try to hide. They left and using vehicles that can make much more noise than a crying baby--Daryl's (Merle's) bike, anyone? My point is that noise wasn't an issue because they ran.

This whole post has me thinking so much about plans to protect the baby that I am going to start a new thread to discuss it. I am sure others with different perspectives will have different ideas and I am interested in hearing them. If we can plan by rebuilding fences and planting crops, why can't we plan to protect our young? Especially, when they may be our future, not just in the obvious "next generation" way, but in holding the cure? We could be risking always living like this if we don't.

Also, if they don't hold the cure, who will protect you when you are old, hurt, or otherwise, can't protect yourself? To me, the thought of killing off the young is selfish. I also believe that watching them devise and implement various plans could be interesting.

Di anyone watch this short film before? I've been quite unhappy with keeping Judith as a character, however after watching this video I'm not so sure. It might just work...

Have they defined the time jump yet, or is it still just speculation based on the title? I know there will be one, but I am curious as to how long it actually will be.

Some one posted that video in the off topic section a while back. It's definitely worth a watch. Good stuff.

You'd have to go to the Spoiler Forum to get answers, if there is one. :P

I personally don't think that keeping Judith alive will alter anything.
But I really don't care if she lives or dies... Not to sound like a freak, I mean for the stories sake.

PS: Woodbury woman with a baby solves some technical issues. If she can wet-nurse Judy Ass Kicker then the group don't need to go for baby food.

You're all got solid, responsible points. Honestly though, I want her to live atleast until season five. It'd be interesting to see alittle girl survive in this world. Also, I wanna hear her first words! :P

I know for a fact that there was a baby in Woodbury and I also remember hearing the governor telling andrea about a new baby coming, if I'm not mistaken. I'm in the process of watching season 3 again, so I'll be on the lookout for it.

We have a solution to the problem with Judith. I the episode "Walk With Me", one of the Woodburians mentioned someone was "about to pop" which would up their population to 74. She can be a wet-nurse to Judith which would minimize formula runs.

I think that Judith has the potential to show us what growing up without memories of "normal" life is really like. Carl grew up without Zombies walking around, but now lives in a za.... Judith will be the only one in the group that has never known a world without Zombies. Rather interesting dynamic once she gets older... If she gets older

Those are my thoughts exactly, I think her character will only get more interesting as she gets older. Imagine what it's like to actually grow up in a zombie apocalypse.

Thanks.. And seriously, she will be one cold hearted zombie killer. If you think Carl is cold, she will have zero remorse
