dont get me wrong...love the show..but found some apparent flaws in the zombie idea. Just thought it'd be fun to see the ideas people come up with to "plug" the gaps in believability a it were. First off....when you die you immediately "turn".. ( I.E. SHANE ) and zombies dont eat each other..why then in one episode when two members of the group stumbled on a dude who had hung himself...turned into a walker but the "geeks" had eaten all the flesh off his legs as he dangled helplessly from the noose.?
Another apparent flaw...Rick was in law enforcement. Surely he knew the surrounding area very well. Why then did he act surprised when the group "stumbled" on to the prison. He acted as if he didnt know it existed...but surely he would have known about its existence.
Love to get all your thoughts fellow "deadheads".

Not sure if this was ever referenced in the show (I think it was IIRC) but in the book Rick mentions that even though he was a cop there was never much action and that he never really had to use his gun, things like that. That it was a pretty quiet town. So that could explain why he was surprised to find a prison, if there were never any criminals to put away. He probably just never had to visit it.
Or if he did know about it, his surprise could've come from the reaction of "oh god, this is it. We've found a place we can be safe in".
