Where did Ben get shot?

Merle had his sights trained on the Governor, and Ben walked into the line of fire at the last second. There was virtually no reaction to it from the Woodbury crew.

Ok, I knew what was going to happen. But it was so much more horrifying than I thought. I think it was Daryl's reaction that killed it--I thought he might be cold and just shoot him but he really needed and loved his big brother. I think Daryl really thought his brother and him would be a family again and it wouldn't be the abusive family of the past.

Nothing on Andrea? TG now bites off peoples fingers? This does not bode well for Andrea. :srug:

Last scene where Daryl had to see his brother like that, really hard to watch IMO. I can understand Daryl pushing Merle away, not wanting it to be true. Finally having to end the "life" of his brothers animated corpse. :(

Merle may have been an asshat but he was still Daryl's brother. I look at it as "well hes my brother I can call him what I like, but I'll defend him against others." :2206_mourning_over_dead_friend:

Great episode

But

This show has no interesting characters left. I don't even care who ends up dying in the finale as long as the governor dies.

Rating this episode as fair. Some pretty good moments but seeing as the bulk of this episode was about Merle and even though walker!Merle and Daryl's scene broke my heart at the end, it just seemed a bit anti-climatic in a way.

Thoughts...

-I would have never thought Rick would take the idea of giving over Michonne so far knowing how the Gov is. It's been said plenty of times in the show and they have seen first hand the Gov does not play fair or show mercy. Why would Rick think the Gov would make good on his promise? It didn't seem like the Gov shook Rick up much at all in their meeting. Rick seemed to hold is on pretty well, but he must have really gotten to him if he went this far and defied the logic right in front of him. Of course if he never took it this far neither would Merle... so there ya go I guess.

-I love Carol shes so confident. I hope she survives the finale.

-Merle has a point with the Maggie and Glenn comparison to Michonne. I'm also surprised Daryl is so compliant about Rick giving the Gov Michonne. Of course he said Rick made the right decision when he decided not to do it but he was ready to stand behind him regardless. Not much difference from Merle doing the Gov's dirty work.

-Hershel spouting the bible is now getting cliche. Once or twice and its powerful for the scene but they are playing that card too much.

-I like that they got rid of Lori's white dress, a lot more powerful when she's seen in plain clothes.

-Still confused as to why Merle took Michonne. I'm not understanding why he cares about the approval of the prison group all of a sudden? I'm not mad that they humanized Merle but they did it all in one episode, its a little unbelievable he would change so fast. I wish they would have started breaking his shell a bit earlier, he's had plenty a lecture since in the prison but this is the first time something got to him.

-Lol Glenn is horrible at asking people to marry him. Although it was a lot less cheesy than I expected. I felt most of the Glenn/Maggie scenes lately have been irrelevant but this was actually sweet. Makes me wonder if both of them will survive the finale since their relationship is getting so much attention lately.

-I wonder if Michonne believes Merle that Rick and the rest wanted to hand her over to the Gov? She didn't seem too surprised or hurt by it like she thought it was a trick of Merle's. If she still holds a grudge against Andrea and forgives Rick with no question that would be ridiculous. I'd be surprised she went back but then she doesn't have anywhere else to go. I guess we will see next episode what happens.

-Heartbreaking scene with Daryl. It almost makes Merle's death worth it but I can't help but feel its all a bit anti-climatic. I guess I thought Merle's death would be more meaningful and epic, others may disagree though.

OHH, sorry! Haha. I misread your post. I think he was shot in the shoulder? I'm not 100% sure either since the blood splattered on his chin.

No worries. Yeah that's what was weird to me it looked like he was shot in the arm or shoulder. Did he die then and there? Or did he try to wiggle away from Merle and got eaten

He was saving her from Rick's moronic decision at that point. Remember Merle was the one who told Hershel that the Governor would have killed the group regardless, so I highly doubt he intended to deliver Michonne. Even if he did, it didn't take much for him to think of a better alternative.

I think this was one of the better written episodes this year. The dialogue was just amazing. And I actually cared what happened to Merle and even teared up when he was beat up, killed and then killed again.

Where did Ben get shot?

He was shot in the head. They showed it in the Memoriam on the TD.

Which makes sense or he would have been a walker. I have to watch it again but I think that is who Merle was eating.

I think Merle was going to get Michonne to help him. I was thinking while the two were driving about the handover. How would he expect to hand her to the gov when Merle was wanted about as bad as her?The gov would have took full advantage and nabbed them both. I guess he thought he could do as well by himself and let Ninja girl go back to th prison.

If I was her I am not sure how good I would feel about Rick. I might have went somewhere else.

I think Carol was right, Merle was gonna be a late bloomer. I was really starting to like him. Poor Darryl. I liked Rick's democracy speech

Glenn and Maggie "proposal" thing was pretty boring.

Why does it take so long for Michonne to talk? Darryl asked if she killed his brother and she just looked OMG she looks so silly.

Rooker and the Gov look very handsome on Talking Dead

I wonder if Daryl is going to hold a grudge against Rick now, since he was the one who asked Merle to do the "dirty deed" for him?

The final scene rates up there with Sophia walking out of the barn. You knew Merle was dead, but having Daryl find him as a Walker eating flesh, made it that more dramatic and somewhat sorrowful.

When thinking about the show, I often review which main characters have lost someone significant in their lives. This was Daryl's moment.

Hershel, Maggie, and the other daughter lost family members.
Rick and Karl lost Shane and Lori.
Carol lost her husband and Sophia.
Andrea lost her sister, and Dale to a certain extent.
Glenn lost Dale.

It was Daryl's turn.

She shook her head no when he asked, so she didn't just stare at him.
